at 1:30 the space shuttle starts to arc forward. They go backwards, the opposite way from the fuel tank and its in orbit in 1:30 minutes. It takes 8:30 to climb to orbit. meh pretty good

Is it reall necessary to use the flaps like that when you're orbittin in space ? I thought they mainly used the small thrusters at the nose and on the rear to change direction and angle and not in combination, as there is no flow of air anyway, pls correct me if Im wrong.

two: Currently I would believe that flaps would be necessary until on approach beecause the aircraft was made through quatum physics and not aerodynamically.

not a fuel leak guys, hot gases from the right booster "I think" burned a way one of the feed lines from the tank, which caused the tank to rupture and break away during ascent, and because of the stress at those speeds, it caused the shuttle to break up, more so than explode, thats why they had to self detonate the boosters, and thats why it is believed that at least three of the Astronauts survived the breakup based on evidence of the investigation

The O ring seal was not complete because abnormally cold temperatures in Florida froze the thing and it didn't reseal properly after thawing. Challenger broke apart due to high stress, it didn't so much "explode."

Ah yeah, one of two things happened (I can't remember which is correct and I'm too lazy to look it up):

1.) Tank ruptures and explodes, forcing the shuttle backwards and aerodynamic stresses tore it apart

2.) Tank ruptures, forcing the shuttle backwards and to break apart, tank explodes

Those scenarios are pretty much the same, but there's an order difference =)

its called orbiter look it up on google but if you really want to actually spend some money on a hands on game i recommend a game called Space Shuttle Mission, it teaches you just about everything there is to do in a real shuttle mission. But, cost maybe high.

Technically you couldn't with a Space Shuttle. Direct Ascent requires massive thrust, something along the lines of the Nova Rocket.
