"Anne Rice's 'Interview with the Vampire' was the direct inspiration for this song, but there was a moonlit night in the French Quarter of New Orleans where I had the distinct impression that I was being followed" (Sting 111).
i always have loved this song & the first time i heard it, i visualized Sting in this same video doing this song the same way it is except 4 the parts that were not shown. that is creepy, yawl but yet mindblowing.
This perfect song IS NOT about a werewolf. Sting wrote this song after reading "Interview With a Vampire". Bourbon St. is a famous street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, where the first half of Anne Rice's story takes place.
If you haven't read the book yet - do so. A true masterpiece of Horror & imagination. The movie, although highly entertaining, doesn't come close.
The song is so much better than the book...the video you've put together enhances both. Thank you! Thank goodness for artist like you who will work pro bono. XOXO!
No, no, the song is for sure about a vampire, in fact it talk about Louis, one of the characters of "Interview with the Vampire", an Anne Rice's book.
The title is "The moon over Bourbon Street" just bicause Louise live in this street of New Orleans, in the book.
The howl in the end is just a little tribute and anticipation of the next book of the saga, and is about the vampire Lestat, the one that make Louis a vampire too.
PS: Sorry for my bad, bad, english, but I'm italian ;)
The lyrics to Moon Over Bourbon Street by Sting.
This is what Sting has to say in his lyrics book:
"Anne Rice's 'Interview with the Vampire' was the direct inspiration for this song, but there was a moonlit night in the French Quarter of New Orleans where I had the distinct impression that I was being followed" (Sting 111).

@gradybea It is most certainly about a Vampire. to be precise, it is about Louis, fledgeling of Lestat, Both creations of Anne Rice.

Sting himself said the song is based on the book "Interview with the Vampire". Excellent song!

Thanks for watching my video. I always thought the song was about a werewolf- at the end of the song you can hear a faint howl.
I have no idea why I made it about a vampire. Maybe because its cheaper to make someone up as a vampire than werewolf.

Actually its about a vampire. "You'll never see my face at noon, you'll only see me walking by the light of the moon"
