Best movie and soundtrack ever?.......maybe not BUT this final scene of JD's death and subsequent passing of his last words to Billie are in my top 10 movie scene's for sure. Brilliant performance, perfect score, amazing setting and cinematography all go into making the death of one man a truly epic and heart-breaking event.
Anyone who doesn't know 1930-40s style get out now. *waits* Tupoc and fitty cent are cowards! New scum not gangsters! John Dillinger was a Man of honor even though a outlaw.
Sad that the class of criminal nowadays is just another scumbag thug. People like John Corzine, Bernie Madoff, the Federal Reserve, and most of those in Congress. Simply cowards with no class.
depp and dillinger r amazing and this song is amazing every time im doing exercise im doing a little trampolin for 30 minutes jumping doing diffrent exercise when i just cant jump anymore i put this song on and it gives me the strenght to continue it just has so much heart in it this song is amazing
After watching the film i admired JD, not because i agreed with what he did, but because even in difficult times he had the tenacity and endurance to keep going, even when his friends turned their backs on him. He appeared to be a gentleman when with ladies and played the law or the system for a bunch of fools. Peace, out.
you knew at the moment when the 2:06 music started playing and the guy in the film said he would rather die than go to prison that johnny depp was going to die
IDK But I Think That This Particular Score And "Drive To Bohemia" IsThe Type Of Music Scores That Just Makes U Wanna Make Serious Love With Your Girl Friend Or Wife If U R Married IDK Wat Yall Think???? Or Jus Make Out WIth Her For Hours Under A Nice Big Harvest Moon

I hate people who watch movies and think, gees he wasn't such a bad guy. lol, Youre not exactly a great guy if youre pulling the shit he pulled. I hate stupid people lol, I agree with Bassically, he is only credited with killing one person, but he still killed someone, and not only that he probably killed more, and if you want to go to the entire he only killed one person bullshit, Casey Anthony only killed one person so I guess you glorify her too dumb fuck.
@JonnyLionMan he was the leader of a gang who was responsible for robbery, assault, and the murder of over 10 law enforcement officers. He got what was coming to him...a well deserved death in my book
This was a excellent movie, but they did only one thing wrong, they tried making him out to be a good guy when he really wasn't, it was the robin hood theroy back then because of the depression, the people backed them only because they felt the banks fucked them over. It was a great movie other than that fact, my grandmother who was 12 at the time said she hated the movie because they glorified him.
@Antihippie24 Dude, Dillinger was a genius. Of course they're going to glorify him. Yes, he robbed banks, but he didn't just randomly kill people, take people's money, or kidnapped anyone. Most historians believe that HE probably only killed one man. I'm sorry that your nose is so far up the governments ass to see that, but Dillinger wasn't as bad as you're making him out to be.
@ssenaMniveK lol I hope youre talking about the real JD and not Johnny Depp, lol. Just saying. He was anything but a hero and that is what youre making him out to be. Read the accounts of him breaking out of prison the two times he did. He married his 13 year old cousin when he was in the navy and went AWOL. Need we go there?
@comedystone16 haha xD you should kill a bunch of police in a shootout and then later when they see you xD you should walk in between two girls to this song lol
What many people don't understand is how tragic the story is from a broader point of view. Criminals like JD were idolized because they were men who sought to overcome the hardships of the Great Depression. They wouldn't exist if the government and economy didn't fuck up.
it's funny. both initials are JD, and both can be called Johnny.
I first heard about the movie from Mafia Wars, I'm really into mafia stuff (my dad was a sicilian mafioso) so i checked it out. one of the best ones i've seen. my favorite things are Mafia 2, Godfather (both game and movie) and Public Enemies.
I couldn't help but cry at John Dillinger's death. I know he is a criminal and I know anybody who watched this film saw it coming, but John Dillinger was insanely smart for a criminal; and this movies reminded me that criminals aren''t the sterotypes we make them out to be. Their human beings who became criminals for their own personal reasons...
you miss the exact point, alot of criminals are very smart. But John Dillinger had a heart. He wasn't a cold hearted killer. (Atleast in the movie, dont know forreal)
@SuperiorSquid its a loss on both ends I suppose? I meant criminals could be human beings for a reaoson, please excuse my vague-ness I suck at explaining things.
ha! you had zero dislikes and now you have one! haaaaa trololololololololololololololololololollololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololoolololololololololllllllllllllll
The movie itself was somewhat hollow, but the build up to this ending was just flawless. This piece of music is so full of trepidation, the tension of something not feeling right, and the sheer panic in the chaotic few last seconds of his life was very movingly captured. It is really quite lovely, heart pounding, and very climatic. It is an accurate, brilliant portrayal of the adrenaline rush from both the agents, the traitor, and Dillinger himself. Amazing piece of music here
@DarkFilmDirector you summed up my precise thoughts about this film (though I will say I didn't view it as hollow at all. I thought they made the characters very sympathetic and fleshed out. It made me feel for all of them from Dillinger to Billie to Purvis himself and all that they were involved in.) this scene was truly powerful. The music matched it's feelings perfectly and really brought the tension and chaos of emotions to the forefront of the viewers minds.
@runishi01 u probably haven't seen LEAN ON ME, because if u had, you would know that MORGAN FREEMAN is the best actor in hollywood and DENZEL WASHINGTON is next.
Know what else is a good true story ? The Killing Fields" . About how Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge started their "Year Zero" utopian society by killing 2+ million Cambodians.
Its pretty good. Not as good as Heat, but then what is? Takers was surpringly good too. Not as good as either the Town or Heat but entertaining as far as Heist films go.

Now that I think of it, who really is/was the Public Enemy? JD? Or the Banks? I vote the latter.
You see the problem is your ignorance. I can tell by your lack of reply to my original reply to you that you are just part of the herd; that you are unaware. You would be the same sheep in the street screaming out "where's my money?!" when the banking system of today collapses. Go do you research. Learn a bit. Come back. And then reply intelligently. Until then, don't reply to things you know nothing about. Now, get back in a line and follow...
@miasma1616 I don't know.... it seems like everything you just said to me could be applied exactly to you in reverse. your original message was nothing but populism, you know what that is? it's an ideal in which people follow that which is popular, making you one of the herd just the same. Also, why do I owe you any response if you show no credentials on the matter either? I haven't seen anything that gives you any sort of expertise currency other than a trite populist talking point....
@jigsaw1398 it was too much for him dillinger was right purvis was good at a distance but up close toe to toe he wasnt markm177 is right purvis commited suicide for guilt and for the death of dillinger who wasnt really a bad man
@213doper i appreciate your input. dillinger was a human being just like the rest of us. there is that sayin'-DESPERATE TIMES CALLS FOR DESPERATE MEASURES. i would've done the same thing if i was in that position too.
@jigsaw1398 dillinger robbed banks, and while some people considered him as a dangerous criminal, others called him a hero because they blamed banks of causing the great depression, making him some sort of "Robbin-hood"
@markm177 Melvin Purvis killed himself accidentally. he was cleaning his gun because it had previoulsy jammed and in the process the gun went off and it killed him
I believe this is the original piece of music that was supposed to play out the Heat credits but was replaced by moby at the last minute, you can also hear it at the end of Michael Collins - Mann eventually gave Goldenthall's piece the spotlight it deserved, GREAT TRACK.
Merry Christmas everyone, Talked with my Grandmother yesterday when she came down and we got on the topic of this movie and J.D. and she hated the movie horribly, she said they made him out to be a hero when he was a ruthless killer, I told her to counter that argument, during that time people belamed the banks and he had no chance at a future for being a ex con, so he had to do what he had to do. She still disagreed of course. Shocked it hasn't happened durin this recession.....
I love how this track just has that ominous, chilling, endless feel without having that "OMFG THIS IS TOTALLY EPIC" feel, you know? It has an emptiness that just makes the end of things so ridiculously... "endfull". I probably repeated myself, but oh well... it proves my point. Legends live forever, music made for legends that live forever belong to the sweat of the brow that composed them. So does that mean the composer lives forever, too?
Awesome film slightly innacurate on certain historical events in film. I cannot stop watching it. Sountrack words cannot describe, John Dillinger one of my top idols cowards the way they took him out. Whore and Feds. But his LEGEND will never Die. Long live his memory and his life.
when he went down he said something... just before he died... and what i think he said... was...tell billie, bye bye blackbird.. (tear rolls down cheek) ... personal goosebumps arouse. amazing ending.

You would be the same sheep in the street screaming out "where's my money?!" when the banking system of today collapses. Go do you research. Learn a bit. Come back. And then reply intelligently. Until then, don't reply to things you know nothing about. Now, get back in a line and follow...
miasma1616 11 months ago
@miasma1616 I don't know.... it seems like everything you just said to me could be applied exactly to you in reverse. your original message was nothing but populism, you know what that is? it's an ideal in which people follow that which is popular, making you one of the herd just the same. Also, why do I owe you any response if you show no credentials on the matter either? I haven't seen anything that gives you any sort of expertise currency other than a trite populist talking point....

criminal or hero? dosen't matter-dillinger left a mark in this world

This is so haunting, so stunning and so emotional. If I'm ever killed in some dramatic way, I want this played as it happens. Beautiful.
vampirekidxaimee 1 year ago 2
how ironic-in the end the great melvin purvis killed himself, because he could not live with the fact that he became what he hunted and killed
markm177 1 year ago
@markm177 what was that?
jigsaw1398 1 year ago
@jigsaw1398 the gun that was used to kill dillinger was the same gun that killed purvis, melvin purvis committed suicide because of regret
markm177 11 months ago
@markm177 why did he kill himself?
jigsaw1398 11 months ago
@jigsaw1398 guilt and regret-no matter how he looked at it, purvis was a killer. he killed pretty boy floyd and others.
markm177 11 months ago
@jigsaw1398 it was too much for him dillinger was right purvis was good at a distance but up close toe to toe he wasnt markm177 is right purvis commited suicide for guilt and for the death of dillinger who wasnt really a bad man
213doper 11 months ago
@213doper i appreciate your input. dillinger was a human being just like the rest of us. there is that sayin'-DESPERATE TIMES CALLS FOR DESPERATE MEASURES. i would've done the same thing if i was in that position too.
markm177 11 months ago
@213doper Purvis shot himself accidentally while cleaning out his gun.

@simian455 he was cleaning his gun? O_o im confused.
hurricanesofhell 8 months ago
@213doper still he was a bank robber, also how did the people find Dillinger a hero?
jigsaw1398 9 months ago
@jigsaw1398 dillinger robbed banks, and while some people considered him as a dangerous criminal, others called him a hero because they blamed banks of causing the great depression, making him some sort of "Robbin-hood"
ultrage4 8 months ago
@ultrage4 oh, I can see the like the orignal Robin hood (execpt with stealing from the rich)
jigsaw1398 8 months ago
@markm177 Melvin Purvis killed himself accidentally. he was cleaning his gun because it had previoulsy jammed and in the process the gun went off and it killed him
milestone380 11 months ago
@milestone380 purvis killed himself-even if the gun went off accidently. but he did kill himself because he had rregret-hoover used him

@Comictalent yeah the ending was great, the finishing act, but the rest of the film was a bit flat tbh
