its quite common for the rewind spring on the pull start to fail which lets the handle eventually hit the prop. it can even happen to the most expensive units. Dont let "imasuper" tell you any different. if you can add a way to secure the pull start handle after start with a terry toolclip or something you might avoid the same thing happening in the future.
@pgpete Thanks, and yes, I will do that. Very good advice. I'll probably find a way to clip the pull start to my frame once I get airborne to prevent that from happening again. It's been 2 years and I still have yet to fix my equipment :(
I am still flying my 172cc black devel after 6 hard years of flying and now added a quad to that engine. My next engine would Truly be the 313cc enging by compact radial engines because of the exaust issues that give problems from all others. When my motor fails i will change to that motor . I could explore the 2 stroke water cooled later for some testing. Forget the rotarys.
Joe, don't let this be your last flight. I can understand your frustration, but there are ways around it. Blackhawks have mediocre reliability, but with very few safety features. If you ever have an opportunity to get a Flat Top or similar paramotor, definitely jump on it. It will be much more reliable, more powerful, quieter, and most importantly, safer.
Hey Joe, I am down here in Va beach. I actually went out to the event last year but got there late and none of the ppg guys were left. I hope you get your stuff fixed man, I'd like to fly with you sometime. Your in NoVa right?
Yes, I live near Fredericksburg. I still need to buy a new prop, pull-string, and I need to fix the pull-string engine start and that's probably it. I can'd to it because I don't have the proper tools, time, or money yet...but you can bet I'll be getting back into this as soon as I can! (hopefully this summer) Thanks for your comment :)
For me this just illustrates what a remarkable sport this is. You had several landing options when you lost your prop. The safety of flying at 22 mph and knowing that you can land in such a small area is so amazing! Thanks for sharing the video!
Even a flat top can have an object come off and go through the prop,I'm tired of people bad mouthing blackhawks! I've flown the hell out of mine with no problems. Most of have broken a prop before, get a prop and you're back in the game man!
Don't let that be your last flight fine sir. We've all had the cheap crap equipment at some point in our flying. Step up to a Flat Top, K2 paraglider and Super Mini Reserve Parachute and life is totally different. Black hawk is the cheapest stuff on the market. You get what you get. The Team Redbull Pilots all fly Flat Tops for a reason. Don't let the total garbage equipment ruin your perspective on life. Just watch my videos, this sport IS a total blast. You got screwed, move up and on
Buy a decent prop. If wood that means 4/5 layers not the cheaper 2 or 3 layers, like you had. They are weak as you now know. Best buy is a carbon Helix money well spent. Looks like you got some cleaning to do also. Good luck, get back in the sky and happy flying.
Thanks--I'll look into that. The problem was that my pull-string for my motor start came out and hit my propeller. So I need to get my prop replaced and a new pull-string. The recoil springs that retract the string of the motor isn't working either.
Where Is that place at 4:18? Is it Airport?

Great Joe! I trained with Michael @ Warrenton Air Park in 2008, maybe we can meet up there sometime and do some flying.
Once you get your motor fixed up, are we going to see a unicycle paramotor take off? It has to be done!

Funny, that's where I learned to fly PPG! But it was in 2006...
I have a spot in Fred'burg/Spotsylvania that I fly at with another guy near by... look up wavezife2 on youtube--we fly often.
Still working on that unicycle takeoff! :)
