  • Superb vid. Thanks!

  • nice vid mate thanks

  • Wow, amazing video.

I agree about your view on bench shooting and punching holes in the ozone lol

  • it saddens me to see only less then 5000 people have viewed this. This is the best video on firearms ive ever seen on youtube. its made me such a better shooter. the elbow holding closer to ur body trick really helped me get a better stance and holding the firearm tighter when shotgunning and i can shoot heavy load BB shot all day now without bruising.

Thankyou alot for such an amazing video, i constantly try to get all my shooting friends to watch this.

Keep up the good work !

  • I'll try some of this stuff next time Greyson and I take his .300 Win Mag to the range!

  • Excellent ! ☺

  • I'm a fairly new shooter. I've been shooting a Ruger MkIII for almost two years. That's my experience. However I just bought my 1st .308 rifle. I can't afford a scope yet because I want to buy a real nice one.

All that said, I must thank you for perhaps one of the best instructional videos I've seen on YouTube. You are a natural teacher Sir. The explanation of MOA was clearer than any I've ever seen before.

Cool doesn't put holes in the black, cool doesn't put meat in the freezer.

    Awesome.

  • Just excellent. I learned from my dad, who was the best offhand shot I've ever known. He taught me one shot at a time, week after week, when I was seven years old, using a Winchester single shot .22 target rifle at an indoor range. After a year, I got to go hunting with him. I'm going to try your sling technique, which is opposite of mine. It looks much more convenient for quick shots, and I've never seen it before. Great work. I love to watch a pro in action.

  • @RoscoesRiffs

That sling trick is something I picked up from my Dad.

He hunted all his life but I'm sure it was something he got from basic training in WWII.

It works really well. He could snap an M1 carbine to that position from having the rifle slung over his shoulder faster then I could get the colt out of a snapped holster and into battery.

That's part of why I moved to long guns.

  • Awesome videos you have. You have very straightforward and simple logic rants as well.

    PS very nice shots

  • this is one of the best shootin videos I've ever seen. keep putting your stuff out there, you rule.

  • I came across your video looking for shooting tips. I was amazed at the quality of info in this Video, dont usaully get this kind of good info on Youtube, all the visuals certainly helped explaining things, it will definatly help to make me a better shooter. fantastic work mate, keep it up!

  • this video is outstanding

  • good job man

  • great vid keep them comming

  • I have to say that this is the BEST youtube instructional video I've ever seen. Someone explaining something without ego, bravado, and standing on the soap box. I'm a teacher myself and I strive to bring that forward to my flight students . The calm voice, the preparedness, and the professionalism - both in personalization and production - come forward to giving the viewer something they'll understand, and more importantly, remember. Kudos to you sir, and thank you.

  • Great job!! Good, solid no bulls**t video that everyone should watch!!

  • Wow! Really Really good video.

  • hey what's ur opinion of nutnfancy (hes another gun nut here on youtube) i really think ur a great rescource for someone thinking of buying a firearm one day (me) to get an expert opinion.

also im thinking of getting a 1911 as my first firearm whats ur opinion on that design of pistol?

  • Nutnfancy's vids are informative, but I question how much his son is actually learning about shooting when he's got the boy shooting with a scope and sandbags at targets 20 yards away.

The 1911 is an excellent gun and you've got a lot of choices and options,

(but stay away from the Norenco, they're junk)

It's sort of a lot of gun to learn on, but it was the first handgun I ever shot.

You might want to consider taking a training course from a certified instructor.

  • ya kinda have to take the course i live in canada, but its no biggie. i get alot of people saying that i should start with a .22 but ive fired those before and i want something that actually feels like im firing it. thanks for the advice ill keep it in mind. (ive also heard taurus are junk too...)

  • I had a .357 Taurus. It wasn't a bad gun, strictly meat and potatoes.

Shop smart and you'll get back what ever you paid for it.

Revolvers are a bit easier to learn on, they're very reliable and predictable

There's no reason to start with a 22

Get a full sized 1911 steel frame. (not alloy)

Don't get anything fancy and be sure it will accept stock Colt parts. (don't take the salesman's word for it)

You can buy all sorts of options and upgrades and swap barrels to shoot different calibers later.

  • thanks man i was thinking about a colt 1911 anyways (might aswell stick to the guys who made it first right) something close to the origional circa ww2 pistol design mayby put a beavertail on it later. any thoughts on that?

  • They're not easy to find, but they are out there.

It's one of those things, you can upgrade it a little at a time but still have a functional firearm thru the whole process.

Check out "Wilson's Combat" They're fantastic to to business with.

I'm just not sure what can and can't be shipped from the US to Canada.

  • thanks for the advice man appreciate it. i think if i have a firearm shipped from a dealer in the states to a dealer in canada its legal

  • Nutnfancy's videos are 5th rate. I don't think the guy has many friends.

Normal for Army Officers. He is playing Rambo but bows out before the real fun gets started. Watch his survival stuff. It is just enough to leave you wondering about his real intentions and knowledge.

I love your videos. They are done in the Standard of the Military's NCO core. Task, Conditions and Standard.

You tell us what you are going to tell us. Do it. Then you tell us what you told us. Easy instruction principal.

  • ...and the crying about getting one of his clips used on TV is getting old (so long as we're bashing him)

I only watched the vids of his that came up linked to mine, I've only seen a couple.

I'm a target shooter trying to make the world a safer place.

I've never been in the military,

    but thanks.

  • Marcucco You Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak the Truth. Lets keep it real.

Your mission is proper. Speak the truth and give proper guidence. If someone knows a bit more. Give them the room to help the effort.

Its about putting lead on target so it does not cost toooooo much. These days. Ammo is getting crazy expensive. So make it count.

    Peace brother...

  • LOL

    Peace bro.

  • Dido Brother.

  • lol well shit i learned something . great video .

    thank you

  • I guess it was worth my time then. Thanks

  • Marcucco what is the longest distance you can shoot a .22 lr, and 22mag, form distances that can be effective for hunting, and just to being able to hit the target at center. I would normally google this but to many answers form too many sites visited, I ask you because you seem to have a lot of experience in shooting.

  • Very good Video, and it just came out just in time before hunting season. I got got my first .22 rifle, a .marlin glenfield 25. Very old gun made back in the 80s got it for 50 bucks, but had to order an new clip, sense the old one was missing a special seat that held the shell upward, or at the right angle to load in the round, it kept jamming. Now it loads and unloads just fine.

  • Nice tips, some of those were completely new to me. I have something to investigate now with my tools. Thanks for he effort in this video, it must have taken an enormous amount of time.

  • Do you have any tips for a 4x scope.. to help zero it in? with a .177 cal pellet gun.

  • Hey Marcucco, Great video! I tried your suggested method for sighting-in a scope. I actually got the scope on my rifle(Rossi Trail Boss w/ 22 LR barrel) to be pretty much pin point accurate at 20 yards. It's alittle off at 50+ yards but still usable. Thanks for making the awesome videos!

On a side note; Is it safe to use .22 short or .17 HM2 in a .22LR break action rifle? They both seem to work but the .22 short is semi inaccurate and the .17 seems to be very inaccurate after 20 yards.

  • Don't shoot .17 ammo in a .22!!!

The .17 round has a much smaller diameter then the .22.

The bullet isn't sealing the barrel so the gasses are escaping around it.

The riffling in the barrel can't put any spin on the bullet so accuracy is going to be terrible.

.... and there's a chance a .17 bullet could get wedged in the barrel, causing the gun to explode the next time it's fired.

  • Get a .22 cal bronze bore brush and clean the barrel well.

The 22 shorts should be accurate out to 25 yards

    (if there's no wind)

It may be that there's lead and copper built up in the barrel from those .17 flopping around in it.

You might want to try different brands of ammo as well.

Some are more accurate then others.

I've found Wolf Target Match to be very accurate.

  • Yet another great video Marcucco. I enjoyed the added effects such as the sights on the target and what not. Like you mentioned, really basic, but none-the-less a very well thought out and put together video! Now on the 75 yards the max effected range of the .22lr, on game yes, however i've been pushing my new .22 to 175 meters on a 4.5" steel circle, and that's fun! Of course, i'm new school, I use scopes, I haven't forgotten how to use open sights though.

  • At 175 meters, I'd need a scope too.

That 100 yd steel target that turns up in a lot of my vids is 1 foot across.

I'm not anti-scope, honest. About half my collection is scoped. But I believe you should be able to put one in the kill zone off hand (with open sights) if you want to call your self a marksman.

There's far too many nit-wits out there that think because they can hit a target firing from a rest, they're great shots.

And all of these clowns just happen to have scopes in their rifles.

  • I agree with you completely. I need a 1ft steel target for my longer range stuff, it's a lot easier to see what effect a certain wind condition has whenever you have a black spot on a target to reference the hit. 4.5" target like I have it hard to determine where a miss went. Everyone should be able to shoot offhand, as most hunting will be done with offhand shots. The 3 deer that I have shot in my life have all been offhand, and one was a headshot. (head was all she showed me) at 80 meters.

  • Sweet

  • You should read a book called Point of Impact by Stephen Hunter. I think you'll like it.

  • Or just watch Shooter its made from that book.

  • it's nothing like it. the movie is so much worse then the book believe me, read the book you'll love it =]

  • I'll see if I can find a copy.

99% of the stuff I ever saw as a movie was better as a book.

  • well, I'm off to the range now. thanks for the pointers!

  • Spend some money on a good scope and the paralex wont move like that.

  • It's less pronounced in high end scopes,

but ALL scopes have a parallax error to some extent.

That's why I strongly recommended a cheek rest.

it will eliminate parallax error in any scope and improve your skills with any sighting system.

  • $700 leupold VX3 on a $1000 Remington sendero with about 10 cents worth of foam and black tape as my cheek rest haha works perfect. It was that or spend another 400 bucks on a stock. My 10/22 has a raised cheek peice my new ar-15 has one my .204 has one THEY DO WORK.

    Love your videos man.

  • great stuff. thanks again!

  • enjoyed all 8 mins very good video

  • Once again solid tips, no fluff and well thought out!

  • All ways good videos

  • Awesome video once again. Keep up the good work. It's good to see solid instruction in a high quality.

  • You just liked it because there's bottles of Guinness Extra Stout in the background.

  • My KIND OF DRINK YOU ROCK

  • another very good vid....keep em comin..

  • Outstanding as always, sir you deserve your own channel, better yet your own show.

Please teach us morons how to use a pistol. Please...

  • I'm just not a pistol kind-a guy.

The only handgun I own is that 1911 and what did I do?

I turned it into a carbine (see gun porn 3, the Mech-Tech)

My brother is a certified pistol instructor.

Maybe I can get him to quit making the cooking videos long enough for us to collaborate

  • very good videos as always. i know this one just came out but i am waiting on the next

  • I love your your videos. im just starting to get into shooting. i don't want to be one of the fools with a high power rifle that thinks he a good shit because he on some steady brick table with a bi pod. i took what you said and ran with it. I can hit 1 one inch group with a .22 at 60+ yards. I was thinking about buying a .22, what would recommend?

  • get yourself a 10-22, they are great shooters, alot of fun and when your ready to upgrade...their are many aftermarket barrel makers, trigger, stock etc...i have a volquartsen superlight and it can shoot ragged holes at 50 yards and hold less then half inch with sk match 22 ammo...for years i was always a bolt gun fan, that being said the smiles one gets from a semi are hard to remove from ones face....get a 10-22

  • I have ordered a winchester wildcat. its a nice reasonably priced bolt action and it comes with one five round and three ten round magazines.

i like the extra mags. its got decent open sights and seems to be pretty well put together. as for grouping i cant tell you personally yet. but youtube has several videos of wildcats you can look at. I find bolt actions are preferable to semi autos for learning to shoot, you spend more time on each shot making sure it is going where you want it.
