I can see why he got rid of the spiders they are as so unbelievably dumb! exhibit a: 4:34-4:53 no wonder bowie says that his only true collaborator was Eno.
Jeez where did they get these studio musicians from to make their comments and give their 'insights'. I've seen them on another music video like this making the same 'I know it all' type of comments, of which many are full of holes and possibly sh*t too. They remind me of that saying about empty vessels.
"A load of old nobodies in baseball caps telling you what the records sound like.
Uhm, two of those "nobodies" just happens to be the Spiders From Mars bass player and drummer. You know the same guys who actually played on the music in this video. Jeez
Ritchie Blackmore compared to Mick Ronson? This guy's off his head. Ronson was a genius! Albums like Ziggy Stardust or Lou Reed's Transformer owe everything to 'Rono', not just the guitars, but piano, backing vocals, production, arrangements (including strings).Just think of Lou Reed's Perfect Day or Satellite Of Love, or solos like Moonage Daydream! He also covered Lucio Battisti, the best Italian Rock artist, on Slaughter On 10th Avenue (Music Is Lethal; with Bowie's English lyrics). A GENIUS!
@MrLeagueOJustice Blackmore is a totally different 'kettle of fish' he shouldn't even be brought up here. Blackmore is incredibly fantastic and I love his playing...but the only guitar player I wanna hear about being great on a Bowie comments page is Ronson!!!
Does that fat Scottish bloke have anything truly complimentary to say? He makes them all sound like little kids that have tried their hardest to get by and only just made it....Bowie could barely play piano, Ronson wasn't great but it sounded okay in the end....blabla...
@MacAggy: Good point. I only realized recently the whole point of the group was to be as way out and weird looking as possible. I grew up in the eighties (I'm 38) and the Spiders didn't seem all that weird to my generation, but they must have shocked people in the early 70's. Now that I think about it, your comment makes perfect sense. Cheers.
love yea ronson!!

@tomthefunky Those are sideburns and they just added more strangeness to The Spiders From Mars. To me it wouldn't have been the same without them.

That's perfectly normal. I mean, with boys that hot, girls don't stand a chance.
