I was never got minimalism until I listened to this piece.
There's something about the pulse and simplistic weaving of the chords that make this song one of the most complex and surreal experiences I have ever had with music.
As far as i know, "Kyoko's House" is one of the few books by Mishima that hasn't been translated into english yet. If I'm wrong about that, I hope somebody will correct me.
This is honestly one the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It immediately brings up some form of slow motion montage scene of random beautiful events from life. I think about the time I hung out at the bust stop with my friends in 5th grade wanting, and doing nothing special...but I haven't seen those people in in over 15 years and it makes me sad for some reason.
I saw this film documentary over 20 yrs ago+I never forgot it for its stark beauty+Phillip Glasses amazing score..I def need to buy the soundtrack now..thankyou xx
this is not a documentary. it's a feature film that combines biographical episodes of the life of mishima with renditions of central moments from several of his works of fiction, like the one this track is named after.

Thank you Philip Glass and Mishima. Long live.

@ter521fad I've looked for "Kyoko's House" in English, myself. Most likely only "Kinkakuji" (Golden Pavilion) has been translated.

@globetrekker86 And "Runaway Horses" has also been translated into English.

One of Philip Glass' best works! Thanks for posting. :) Do you know if "Mishima: Life in Four Chapters" is uploaded anywhere online?

I admire how Mishima harmonized the pen and the sword. Mostly remarkable. He proofed quite dramatically that he was not a poseur.
