No idea where the responses from Glamoursfever went to, but in response, I know atrocities were committed by the Japanese (atrocities are committed by every winning nation within any war), but I think you'd be interested in a thread on the topic at the Japan Reference Forum regarding the Rape of Nanking. There are some definite holes in the numbers put forth by some people, and especially those put forth in the book titled 'The Rape of Nanking'.

What the US Military does is not classified as "defending" . There is no greater danger to world peace as America proclaims full of fear, cowardice, greed for retaliation and hatred also inhumane desire to kill.
