i think Virgin is better than both of these to be honest. When Virgin get their 6 A380s in 2013 they will have a casino on each plane!! But Virgin need to get more routes opened up, for example to Seoul Incheon, Kuala Lumpur, and maybe Singapore Changi.

Virgin is a small boutique airline with around 37 aircraft. Sydney to Auckland on Emirates A380, was one of the best flights i have ever been on, even though it was only a 2.5 hour flight, the Emirates crew went above and beyond customer service excellence.
I flew Singapore airlines from Singapore to Auckland on the 747 back in 2007, i got sick on the plane, mid flight, and the crew went to every extreme to get me a doctor and to get me feeling better, i was so impressed.
BUT i cant choose I have had two positive experiences with both airlines both equal
I agree that you cannot base your judgement just on star rating, but then again, you cannot also say that Emirates is better simply because they have larger A380 orders. You have to look at everything from a large scale. Singapore Airlines obviously wins hands down. They have a professional management team, world-class culinary panel, and wonderful cabin crew hospitality and presentation. SIA is the world's most awarded airline and SkyTrax is not the only award SIA have.

@cst1908 Garuda Indonesia has indeed bad records in the past. But they are trying to get passengers' trust to fly with them again because they have been a safe airline in the past 3 years and changed the cabin interrior, added first class, adding new planes etc. They just got their 4th star recently and are allowed to fly back to Europe. They hope will get 5-star by 2014. but SIA/SQ is the best.
Emirates is quite good but it it will take lots of years until EK reaches a better status than SIA because they are simply growing much to fast. Gain experience and become famous needs essential time...
EK sucks; they have very poor service. SQ and CX are the best ways to fly. I fly frequently. I like SQ for the service, inflight entertainment, food, newspapers etc. Also, SQ pilots are more steady when they land. I once encountered a very rude Emirates steward. A huge turneoff.
I prefer SQ's seat colours than EK's crappy sad colours but i prefer EK's IFE than SQ's. I think the reason why EK aint reaching no.1 is first their cabin crew is always busy :/ they have to add more FAs on board, CX is the best in my experience but i should try SQ, i was still small when i flew with them, my parents say SQ has one of the best culinary choices on board.
There is no doubt, Singapore Airlines is definitely better than Emirates in every respect. I have flown with them both and I am saying this from experience.

@melvyn16 Well majority says SQ and CX is the best even my family, EK isn't paying much attention to their passengers; FAs always busy :( and they have a long time in replying for your requests, i've flown many times with CX even if they have crappy entertainment systems in their old A333 they still top in terms of service :P my parents says CX tops everything as well as my whole family but in terms of entertainment i think EK has better IFEs. SQ idk, i was still small when i flew with them.

I have traveled on them both, more with SQ and admire both of them. Unfortunately I've yet to experience the A380. Media wise, it seems that these 2 operators are competing head to head in the on boad service and facilities of the A380. If I am to try it for the first time, I would go with SQ first. Happy flying.
Can you explain to me how taking footrest out means you can put in more seats. Since EK removed it's footrest it has not put in more seats. And in this post I was not talking about the 777 I was talking about the A380. The A380 seats are lower than the 777 seats thus not needing the footrest. Emirates has 4 across on a 777 but the seat's width is normal for international airlines. The normal width of a 777 seat in Y-call is between 17-18.0. Ek is 17. Etihad is 3 across and its seats are 17.0

I flew Singapore airlines from Singapore to Auckland on the 747 back in 2007, i got sick on the plane, mid flight, and the crew went to every extreme to get me a doctor and to get me feeling better, i was so impressed.
BUT i cant choose I have had two positive experiences with both airlines both equal

I agree that you cannot base your judgement just on star rating, but then again, you cannot also say that Emirates is better simply because they have larger A380 orders. You have to look at everything from a large scale. Singapore Airlines obviously wins hands down. They have a professional management team, world-class culinary panel, and wonderful cabin crew hospitality and presentation. SIA is the world's most awarded airline and SkyTrax is not the only award SIA have.

Singapore not very consistent lah...you should see the plane cabin condition of the routes where it has less competition. Things are falling apart and they still charge a premium. A real disgrace !!!

B) By doing that, you're just trying to make it look like a Singaporean hate's his own airline, which is GAY.
C) How is NOT having a shower gay? You're calling 99% of A380 operators gay. Do you know how much you have to pay to take a fucking shower in a plane? Alot. THAT is gay. And doesn't make sense. Have a shower at home. You'll pay 90% less, and you won't die in turbulence.

in asia the airlines are quite good but indonesia airline such as Garuda indonesia their safetiness is not good enough and can be say 4* airlinds but if they B787 or A380 they will 5* airlines.how about if we say emirates vs singapore the result is tie they are 10* not 5* again just joke 5*

@cst1908 Garuda Indonesia has indeed bad records in the past. But they are trying to get passengers' trust to fly with them again because they have been a safe airline in the past 3 years and changed the cabin interrior, added first class, adding new planes etc. They just got their 4th star recently and are allowed to fly back to Europe. They hope will get 5-star by 2014. but SIA/SQ is the best.

EK sucks; they have very poor service. SQ and CX are the best ways to fly. I fly frequently. I like SQ for the service, inflight entertainment, food, newspapers etc. Also, SQ pilots are more steady when they land. I once encountered a very rude Emirates steward. A huge turneoff.

I prefer SQ's seat colours than EK's crappy sad colours but i prefer EK's IFE than SQ's. I think the reason why EK aint reaching no.1 is first their cabin crew is always busy :/ they have to add more FAs on board, CX is the best in my experience but i should try SQ, i was still small when i flew with them, my parents say SQ has one of the best culinary choices on board.

There is no doubt, Singapore Airlines is definitely better than Emirates in every respect. I have flown with them both and I am saying this from experience.

SQ wins on everything except facilities such as bars and shower. :) but seats and services, food, SQ is still on the top. But comparing economy class seats on board A380, Qantas is the best.
But yea I agreed that SQ wins for over all experience.

2. malaysia airlines A380? maybe in 20 years. SQ scrapped B744s for short hauls, and replaced them with B772ERs. They are discarding the 777s to replace with newer A333s. Malaysia airlines is still using what? B737? is it 1982?

@melvyn16 Well majority says SQ and CX is the best even my family, EK isn't paying much attention to their passengers; FAs always busy :( and they have a long time in replying for your requests, i've flown many times with CX even if they have crappy entertainment systems in their old A333 they still top in terms of service :P my parents says CX tops everything as well as my whole family but in terms of entertainment i think EK has better IFEs. SQ idk, i was still small when i flew with them.

Nobody has commented on the fact that on Emirates Airbus 380 First Class passengers have inflight showers and spas while both First and Business Class passengers have inflight bars.

I have traveled on them both, more with SQ and admire both of them. Unfortunately I've yet to experience the A380. Media wise, it seems that these 2 operators are competing head to head in the on boad service and facilities of the A380. If I am to try it for the first time, I would go with SQ first. Happy flying.

Can you explain to me how taking footrest out means you can put in more seats. Since EK removed it's footrest it has not put in more seats. And in this post I was not talking about the 777 I was talking about the A380. The A380 seats are lower than the 777 seats thus not needing the footrest. Emirates has 4 across on a 777 but the seat's width is normal for international airlines. The normal width of a 777 seat in Y-call is between 17-18.0. Ek is 17. Etihad is 3 across and its seats are 17.0
