The very best NFS for both the media as well as certain fans was Porsche Unleashed. By far THE BEST NFS.

As for Hot Pursuit, the original from 1998 was the best of the HP trilogy. The second one was a really bad sequel for me. And the release from 2010 had so much hype and it wasn't that revolutionary. The fact the media considered it the best driving game of 2010 was BS. Better than GT5? You've got to be kidding me.

@JackBandicootsBunker But the GT series isn't fun, at least not for me. It's all track racing, no street racing or cops. Exotic Cars combined with blood-pumping cop chases make the best racing games. The Porsche unleashed has one huge downside, it's all Porsche. There isn't enough variety. I think a racing game requires three things to be considered great. 1:Cops, 2:good gameplay and 3: Lamborghinis.

@TheWatzitooya The GT series, like any other simulator saga, isn't for just everyone. You've got to love serious racing if you want to play those games. Same if you wanted to play MSR/PGR.

The exotic car + cop chase games aren't the best, they gained popularity just because of the very first NFS. But there were other formulas which I considered more influential inside the driving genre, like Test Drive (two-car showdown in TD II)

@TheWatzitooya Also, I know NFS: Porsche Unleashed has that downside, it's obvious. But it was a game that spawned a modren Porsche fanbase and apart from a racing game, it also acted like some sort of encyclopedia, which I found attractive for an NFS game.

TBH, I prefer realism, but when I want arcade racing, Test Drive does it for me. I don't understand the arousal or the excitement you get when being chased by a cop, when in most of the cases the AI of them in every game is awfully dumb.

@subtenk0 And yes, Hot Pursuit 3 is confirmed to have free roam and plus open world (freedrive) without cops to earn bounty and you can drive with one of your favorite cars freely without damaging your car at anytime. Freedriving in HP3 online will be awesome.

Actually, underground 1 and 2 were true need for speeds because it was all about the dirt racing scenes, tuning cars and racing them. It was all about boy racers at one point but it just turned into exotic, tuner and muscle cars then went onto professional racing etc. Love all of the NFS but this one is the best by far
