*Duck* LOL. I feel FORtunate FOR you to comment on my vids no matter when you get to them Curt:))) What I need to do is make them a little more often beFORE I FORget how.
Hey Blinky. First off, it's nice to see you. Ive missed your accent hehe. Well it was a 4 hours spent well because it's looking good :) and lmao at you repeating "did I tell you it took 4 hours?" lol! BTW I know what you mean about these types of projects. You have to assemble most by playing with different parts cos the instructions dont make sense. Im like that with Kinder Eggs ;) Good to see ya :)
Thanks Sarah:) It's great to see you around a little more these days:) I'd never even heard of Kinder Eggs till you mentioned it so I googled it. Yep I'd imagine a few of them might be hard to assemble. I saw a couple of cute YouTube vids on them just now too.
How many pieces were left over in the nut/bolt/screw bag? No man (in my experience) EVER uses ALL the bits you get with the project. Is that why the doors don't match?
I probably had about a dozen or so bits of hardware left over. I'm going to assume they weren't needed, LOL. A few people have mentioned I might be able to adjust the hinges to get the doors even. One thing I ran into was wooden dowel pins with moisture activated glue which was stressful because of thinking I wouldn't be able to dis/re-assemble if I put it together wrong.
Hopefully as long as you are not hurting everything should be good from the recent operation. Unexpected heavy lifts are the culprits to look out for. I think the spoken word will get you out of those kind of situations.
Thanks Rex:) Ya they told me not to lift more than 15 pounds. I was actually a little surprised something associated with my surgery wasn't hurting worse after I fell but thankfully it wasn't. Of course I still did have some hospital pain killers working for me.
Thanks Matthew:) I've been so busy lately I was having trouble finding the time to make vids even before being operated on. Hopefully I can get back to more of a video making routine when I'm fully recovered.
Cool cupboard! How long did it take you to put together? ;) Glad to see you're on your feet and feeling much better. The latches would be a great discussion point for some of the other threads I've been taking part in - about globalisation; and whether it's good or bad. It's certainly good for whoever's selling the things. :-)
Thanks Nathan. 4 freakin' hours!!! That's how long it took. Thanks for asking, LOL. I bet if I did a Google image search on latches that those same type would show up amongst the images. I bet there's some sort of story behind them and they have a special name or something.
Yes.. and the adjusting works too.. Had to do it on my mothers pantry door, as it happens when I was there last.. The downside to those hinges is that they need adjusting from time to time.. or at least my parents ones do.. :) I suppose they move a tiny fraction each tie you open or close the door.. :)
ugh! I would not have been able to get through that without using a few choice swear words! I put together some stuff from IKEA with basically same results!
did you say FOUR HOURS?? hahhaa
looking good Robert, glad to see you up and about and slowing down on the percocet!
Thanks Lesley:) I'm amazed they don't start packaging DVD video instructions with some of these things. It wouldn't cost them very much at all. I'm very happy to have said goodbye to the Percocets. Had I taken Percocets prior to assembling the pantry, it would have been a Picasso Pantry, LOL.
Hey I can comment again! It's taken me about 4 hours to be able to comment after the YT maintenance. That number rings a bell? Glad to hear you're doing well Robert. The place is looking wonderful, lots of natural light. Cheers, Lesley
ok Blink, I'm back. 4 hours, that would have taken me days and I eventually would have gotten soem help. lol Loews SUCKS! 218lbs! I'm glad you took care of it babydoll. Your oil guy. lol ahhhh LMAO
Thanks Furni:) I'm lucky I got all the pieces right. I figured I'd wind up turning all sorts of boards the wrong direction and everything. It was touch and go there for a while! My oil guy better be right!!!
Hey its really great you are vloging. I think that like talking to the camera is really intimidating the first couple of times, but it looks like you are doing fine! lol. But yea, dont get discouraged, and keep doin it! looking forward to seeing more. O and when ya got some time, drop by my page and say whats up and subscribe, i like meeting new people on youtube! Later!

ps. glad to know you are alive. ive seen ur other vids!
I'll bet I can guess how long it took to put that thing together.... 4 hours?? LOL good job, nice cabinet! How is the remodeling of the new house coming?
Thanks Judy:) There really wasn't all that much actual remodeling to do. Mostly just tossing out clutter from the soon to be previous owner, cleaning, and buying new furniture to hold and contain all the future clutter, LOL.
Thanks:) Hey, who knows, you might be loads faster than me. I can't imagine too many people being much slower. I was pretty pleased with the result after it was done however:)
Thanks Joyce:) Seriously there was quite a number of occasions where I thought I wasn't going to be able to put it together. Those instructions gave new meaning to the word *cryptic*.
I mean those 20"(or so ) wide shelves with 6" high legs that u put on your existing shelf, and it gives another shelf, so u don't have to make more wooden ones
Oh ok. The $99 thing was an entire shelving unit with about 6 shelves, each of which was rated to hold quite a large amount of weight. I can't remember how much, but it was pretty high. It was next to the pantry I wound up buying at Lowes.
People waste FAR too much money going to different doctors to get second opinions:) My oil guy had had hernia surgery himself a year or so ago so I figured his opinion must count for something, LOL.
You sure are looking much better, sorry to hear about your fall! Nice pantry, that will definitely come in handy! How long did it take you to put that together?
Thanks PB. I'm getting a tiny bit better every day. I'm still going to be worried about the fall I took doing damage till I go back for my regular follow up appointment next week though.
Oh! That stuff always has a million pieces. As the main furniture builder in my house, I can tell you that the hinges can be adjusted up and down, back and forth. You will probably need another set of hands to hold while you adjust...but I know you have them! If you had read the directions it would have taken 5 hours, so you got off easy...except the doors are out of whack, lol!
How many hours did it take you to build that thing, I don't believe you mentioned it in the video? I think you did a GREAT job putting it together!!! That 3/4 of an inch where it's off is the truest testament of your love for it!!! You ROCK!! ~Angie
Actually my wrist held out pretty good because the frequent bouts of head scratching kept the muscles and tendons from cramping up. I had a drill with a screwdriver bit handy but never used it because I figured I'd overtighten somthing.
4 hours! lol Well it was worth showing off. And the hinge business seems very lucrative. Hey, design you own pantry, and do an intructional video.. be the pioneer. Glad you're feeling better Blink! I know something that would look really nice on top of that pantry ; )
Thanks Pip:) Hmmm, seems like I put something on top of the pantry the other day and it disappeared. There seems to be someone else here moving my stuff around, LOL. Double hmmmmm, I think I've got a pretty good idea what you're talking about would look good up there, LOL.
Pipp Pipp Hooray.. A video is in the making, due to a VERY SPECIAL DELIVERY taking place today.. but unfortunately I can't make or post it as yet, I need to get my wife better first.. but 'you know what' arrived safe and sound today, and Bananaland has declared a public holiday, and a week of festivities.. :) HUGS, R (YOUR biggest fan)
Those are pretty much standard hinges over here and in all of Europe I would imagine!
To get the doors level requires adjusting the small screw on the hinge part that attaches to the side panels (the closest screw to the front). It moves the door (when closed) to the left or right and in conjunction with the bottom hinge (either also adjusted OR NOT as the case may be) will make them level. Maybe.
Thanks Gary! I'll give that a try in a few days after I've healed a little bit more. It never even ocurred to me the hinges had adjustments on them, Duh!
