Karen is nº 6. She deserves Nº 1!!!

  • R.I.P. KAREN!!! 2-4-2010

  • gorgeous. a real tear jerker.

  • Hands down, my favorite of all the songs Karen and Richard recorded. It goes straight to the heart.

  • Priceless!!We love the Carpenters.

  • Wow!! how beautiful... miss her so much.. Beautiful music to the ears. Richard on the piano made her music special to, as well as the arangements of Burt Bacharachs music. BUT HER VOICE WOW!

  • I miss you Karen. No one who sang ever touched my heart and my soul so deeply and so often as you. You were a wonderful gift to all of us. Thank you.....

  • I love that you used your vinyl copy for the audio portion of this video. It makes this even more special and heartfelt to me. This is really very lovely. Thank you for doing this.

  • Perfect song to add toward your old family photo and transfer to CD

  • Karen had one of the most beautiful voices of all time-many people today don't recognize her immense talent. May she rest in peace.

  • Those of us who enjoy real music can appreciate the splendor of her voice, like someone said: heaven has a new angel!

  • Sometmes, not often enough, we relfect upon the good things and those thoughts always center around those we love, and I think about those people, who mean so much to me, and for so many years have made me, so very happy, and I count the times I have for gotten to say, thank you, and just how much I love them.

  • No words can explain enough the magnificent of their music, this is for you, Karen, we all love you , always!

  • Wow..What a beautiful thing to say,,,We all love them and miss them dearly...

  • yes,we do!

Love Karen and rest in peace, your were an angel....

  • This has been viewed by so many, yet so few comments. I guess it's hard to find the words that can truely express the magnitude of our loss the day Karen left us.

  • Richards phenomenal piano work is really expressed in this song. this shows a tremendous amount of depth and emotion in his ability. that cannot be taught, that is a part of who he is.

    fabulous! Thanks

  • beautiful x

  • I sang this song at my junior high graduation in 1983. I know. so what.

She was such a sweet person with an uncomum voice.

    God bless her soul.

  • God,,I miss her....The best Female singer..EVER!!!!!!!! I grew up hearing her lovely voice on the radio,,so spoiled was I...

  • This song is so beautiful,,It brings tears to my eyes........The words are true, and from the heart.....

  • Love them, and many people in Serbia

have loved Karen. I put The Carpenters in

the same category as Elvis, ABBA, Simon+Gar.

Nat King Cole, Boney M,... whenever I hear

todays music, I just feel like smashing

their tape or CD it annoys me so much.

Why is todays music so irritating and angry?

    Merry Christmas.

  • I totally agree with you...

  • she was an angel.

  • Is an Angel,.. looking over us from heaven!

  • I agree.

    Cheers from Spain.

  • perfect....

  • I love you Karen.. thanks trichoone

  • Karen Carpenter is the best female vocalist I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot, I'm an old timer compared to these YouTube kiddos. No one can touch KC, no one is even close. This song is really beautiful. Richard's piano intro is just wonderful.

  • I agree she was one of the best in her time no one could touch her. thank you

  • Simply the best. Period.

  • I wish this song were longer, but it's great overall.... nice...

  • Poor Karen its so sad that she died , she was far to young , she had a beautiful voice .

  • lovely song as always karens voice was divine

  • she was in a class of her own .

  • truely x

  • she was in the top of the class, she was the best

  • So nice... *sigh*

  • My soul has been different since the first time I really listened to the lyrics of this incredible piece over 20 years ago. It's a rich feeling, full of regret and unspeakable joy as I recall with agony and ecstacy the people who have filled my life with such love, most of whom are gone now. I am reminded of my best friend, who died at 29 two days after I last saw him. I didn't say to him, "I love you", and I'll never have the chance again. I'll say it now, Jason. I love you. Forever.

  • richard piano playing is beautiful

    karen voice is beautiful.

everyime i hear this beautiful song it brings a warm feeling to my heart.

it brings tears to my eyes. we love you karen.

  • Music by the late great Henry Mancini and the words by his daughter Felice, that she wrote as a poem to her parents and Mancini but those lyrics to music. Awesome and powerful!

  • obrigado por existir ...

  • I am different person after listening to this song, a better person; how can I not be.....Richard's piano work is astonishing, this is magic, PURE MAGIC!!!!

  • at :45, this is a photo that Karen enjoyed taking. There are a few with her teasing and making fun at the camera. That was Karen's essence and soul shining through. Karen in a lot of ways never lost or even moved on from the fragile innocence and pure fun of being a pre-teen and that suited her just fine. Unfortunately, the real world was waiting. A shame. Alot of photos were for the business, but once in a while the management let one showing the real Karen get published and I'm glad for that.

  • This is one of a series of photos taken by Annie Leibovitz for the "Rolling Stone" cover of July 4, 1976. In most of the ones I've seen, Karen is clowning for the camera with that floppy hat. I'd like a chance to see all of them; they're the cutist ones of her that exist, as far as I'm concerned....

  • i'll keep an eye out for that mag on ebay and see what i come up with, thanks for knowing that info, that helps a ton to be able to find it.

    James

  • I looked on ebay, i typed in carpenters rolling stone, they have one for 10 bucks and one for 20 bucks.

  • The beauty of this song for me is that its the same music (basically) twice played. once as an instrumental and once vocalized.

I believe this is a Henri Mancini piece. Beautifully interpreted by Richard.

  • The best

  • One of the best still.. beautiful music, beautiful voice, beautiful heart....

  • being selfish as I am, more than anything I miss the music we never heard as a result of here affliction...

  • In the 2002 BBC documentary, "Close to You: (etc.)" Richard Carpenter says that when she died, looking at the grand scheme of things, they were just getting started....

  • It's beautiful that anyone can feel this way.

  • I Still Love You KAREN!

  • your welcome she was a great singer .

  • Only the best can make you feei itxxxxxxxxx

  • @trichoone YES SHE WAS THE BEST OF THE BEST

  • thank you for posting. I miss her so much.

  • Unforgettable, that's what she is.

  • Dear Trichoone, My gratitude to you for selecting this song as your tribute to Karen.Thru'the years I have been priviledged sing/playtheirsongs.There is no voice like Karen.Could you help me find:'It's Gone'-from her latter solo album-lyrics:"There's no Song for the sadness,No Poetry for the pain,No color for the stain where the Tears have fallen.."

    -pennymusicMAma

  • What a beautiful song! I'm such a fan of the lovely Karen Carpenter and know most of her songs by heart. It was such a treat to hear something I never heard before. I wish she were still with us!
