This is a neat song. I can't say Andy Summers is THE greatest guitarist, but... What I consider the mark of a great guitar player is how they can bond what they compose into a song to make it unique to that song, and no other. When you hear the first few bars, you know immediately what song it is. He does a great job. Songs like "Mississippi Queen," "Gimmie Three Steps," "Layla," and others have the same trait. That's why Vai, Malmsteen, Satriani, and Wylde never have huge hits. They don't bond.
@ledzeppelinfan9393 Alex Lifeson is my number one influence for rhythm playing. No one else can make bizzare off-the-wall chord patterns sound as good as he does.
@ledzeppelinfan9393 Please don't put Andy Summers in the same class as Alex Lifeson, Lifeson is so much better, so much more creative, talented and innovative. Lifeson can throw a brilliant guitar track over anything Geddy Lee and his bass and keyboards throw at him, and can shred with the best of them with blistering speed.
@Blackshayde Dude, we'll put him in whatever category we want to. Nobody cares what you think. The fact of the matter is that both Andy Summers and Alex Lifeson are excellent guitarists. You, on the other hand are a petulant narrow minded fool with no knowledge of music.
@Blackshayde We'll put Andy in any category we want. Fact remains, he and Alex Lifeson are both equally great guitarists. It's obvious that your knowledge of music is extremely limited.
This is amazing. There was no-one cooler than Andy, especially witht his tele and fancy bomber jackets.. I always wanted to be him when I was about 5. Nothing much has changed.
Great idea this andy summers cam, he's the only one worth watching anyway.
So ... in the West a man who has tamped down his primal urges too long is about to snap ... and in Scotland a society which has tamped down primal urges too long is about to meet a primal symbol which will no longer be denied? And these events are linked at the level of the collective unconscious and have a non-causal but still meaningful relationship? Yes?
So many good aspects of the police. Andy's high pitched, atmospheric guitar playing is so signature. Stewart's tightly pitched drum heads as well. Not to mention Sting can slam the bass.
Glad I didn't spend the cash for the reunion concert....all the songs sounded like they were on sleeping pills.
If in Music TV stations jazz was more popular, and young people could watch not only lady ga ga, Andy Summers wouldn't be so underrated musician... Sad but true.
I went to the recent reunion tour.... the effects were not there! This is Summers at his peak if you ask me...Big thank you for posting this....been waiting for it! :)
I liked so much how Andy plays the guitar and his master for using effects. Amazing!

Did he actually smile at the audience on 2:00? Not much body language form him except showing his knee to Copeland :-D
The guitar action is so different to the tabs I have found on internet...fascinating chords.

Andy, Sting & Stewart, the best trio ever? Wish they would make new music together, bet it would still knock any of todays bands out of the park.
