Anyone could make storyboards you don't really require artists. Describing emotions with words is sometimes much better for actors than just drawing it for them cause it adds more of improvising for them and sometimes they are expressed much better than by professional drawings. Alot of comic artists from marvel made these storyboards for the movie x-men and they still do for other films like spider man, fantastic 4, iron man ect.
Sorry for too much info I hope this answered your question
@Kasen717 It depends you'll have to add several things too a storyboard for example estimate how long each drawing is in seconds when its actually filmed, what kind of light is used when this is shot (dime, warm or cold light), how many of the cast will be in it ect. For a 90 minute movie I'd say it would take approximately 500 or 1000 drawings more/less. Stephen Spielberg made his storyboards by drawing the characters as stickfigures, wrote cast names below and the emotions on their faces.

also in x-men 1 there should be a young cyclops who fire a hole in there school and a young storm who accidentaly make a hail storm in africa because the kids are teasing her...in the end only the young magneto is retained beacause og budgetary issue...
@xamlake The only reason why they put Magneto's scene in was because they wanted to show were his hatred for humans came from, but I fear they're putting way too much emphasis on him. If they really wanted to show both sides of the argument they would have shown both Xavier and Magneto's past childhood. While Magneto has seen the worst side in humans, Xavier has only seen the good. True, it was revisited in First Class, but the scene was more for Mystique. That's just me.
Damn, I see why it was deleted!

How long does it take to do a storyboard for a 90 minute movie? And how many drawings and artists does it require?
