  • luther is a king of ballad

  • Look at all them colors in the audience! WOW!

  • Oprah wet her panties.

  • AMAZING

  • Oprah has fine taste in music. She digs the Wynans too. I'm not religious but the Wynans are da bomb too. Luther-greatest male R&B vocalist that has lived so far. Unparalleled technique, sense of time, and feel. Even the greats say similar stuff. The way he transitions from note to note is artful.

  • the one in blue doesnt do it for me!!

  • thats literally my grandma at 0:26 to 0:30

  • i dont think anyone on this planet could watch that and not be mesmorised by luther his voice his looks his charisma hes unreal

  • How could you not be moved, when you hear this man sing. Priceless. What a treasure.

  • Wow, those ladies were U-GA-LEE!!! Luther is the greatest anyway, it takes fortitude to perform for them.

  • i remember this actual day, my mom always tuned in to watch oprah and we were living in canada and i remember so vividely when he sang this song and afther in the end of the show he sand the song "STOP TO LOVE" and Oprah was blushing and my mom was blushing and i remember cos she wore this red suit and i just saw this and i melted. Is there anyway you have the full legnth tape of this actual show where he sang it???? i love lutherrrrrrrrr

  • They have never come any better than Luther. Period. I count my lucky stars that I got to see him play live. Thanks go to mom and dad for taking me!

  • I knw that somewhere in the world, the "Fat vs.skinny Luther" is going on. So, I'm going to add a bit to that argument now. This was very nice, and Skinny Luther did a very good job here, but Fat Luther sounds better singing this song to me. Fat Luther sounds more passionate singing it, and he hits all the vocal cues (or whatever he's suppose to be hitting) in it as well. Now, these are just my thoughts on the matter, so don't get too mad at me:)

  • LUTHER THE KING OF R AND B, FOREVER!!!!

  • How old was oprah back then DAMN SHE looked good & hot

  • Absolutely AWESOME....God you took Luther Vandross, too soon, I'm having a really hard time with that..I'm sure most would agree.

  • @shamaryaJohnson God gave this man a gift and it is desperately needed "Here and Now"...Just listened to him sing "Superstar" and now I'm missing Karen Carpenter...They could have made some great music together...Luther was the best male vocalist / songwriter ever IMHO.

  • @shamaryaJohnson Is that what you say when children die? Just curious, which god?

  • @shamaryaJohnson If he/she/it's all powerful and all knowing, it's responsible for everything but again, which god?

  • To label Luther Vandross 'talented' is very misleading, Luther was more than 'talented', he was truly 'gifted', a first class act by every conceivable measure, a singers singer, IMHO the best singer of his generation, and more importantly, one of the greatest singers to walk on planet earth!

  • @magnnum100 yes he was . I still miss him.

  • Nothing but fat black women in the audience melting over a gay man. Just like a Terry McMillan novel. what a shock

  • oprah your horns are showing

  • No one comes close. The best ever.PERIOD.

  • @ stankfunkmusic by any chance would you happen to know where I can find his full interview, when he was on here? you always seem to have the BETTER QUALITY none skipping versions of all the luther vandross(can you tell i'm bitter about some of the mess I've been finding on here? lol) videos on you tube, so I figured you'd be the one to ask. :)

  • @MrGclef1183 Let me go through my tapes to make sure I have the entire show. I think I do, but I'm not sure. I know I have a majority of it because before getting interviewed Oprah said his voice was shot. Once I check, I'll let you know.

  • @stankfunkmusic any old footage you have i would love a link to, i know he was on oprah loads of times, and arsenio, we never got these shows then in ireland :)

  • @stankfunkmusic i remember this actual day, my mom always tuned in to watch oprah and we were living in canada and i remember so vividely when he sang this song and afther in the end of the show he sand the song "STOP TO LOVE" and Oprah was blushing and my mom was blushing and i remember cos she wore this red suit and i just saw this and i melted.
