O MY WORD! FUN TIMES AT THE CRICKETER (?) PUB IN STOCKWELL LONDON (if my memoriy serves me well). I used to avoid steel drums till I heard this band. Bless you.
Saw them several times in London in the early 80s. There were a few must-see funk bands like Morrissey Mullen and these guys. Richard Bailey (famous for his playing on Jeff Beck's Blow by Blow) was the drummer. Bass player was Kuma Harada. Wish I still this album. It was a quality pressing too.
OMG, thanks jazzyman for posting that killer!! I still got in on cassette as reminder of the warm spring of1981, since that year i'm humming and singing that song at least once a week or more, especially when I'm in a good mood.
thanx for the word soulboy1977 i will tune in to RV this sunday wonder what happened to greg edwards ....... hey remember froggy mixes he was the first dj to feature mega mixes on commercial radio.
What can I say. This reminds me of young hedonistic days in boarding school, in an affluent leafy suburb of North London, with privilege, youthful excess, and a glassful of innocence! Brilliant!!!
wow i think i first heard this on the Greg Edwards radio show they called it jazz funk ' fusion then i waited months before my order came from the record shop wow its all coming back to me now on those days we had only a few radio stations playing dance music or soul music, i remember pointing my f.m arial to london to pick up sunrise and capitol or radio london and DJ robbie vincent oh deep joy thank you .
