it might infect by fungus with the injury skin where no longer protected. better quarantine with a clean clinic tank with 0.3% salt and enough oxygen. Clear all the gravel in the main tank (im pretty sure there's lots of "shit" in the gravels that contaminate the water quality. ). I keep all my GF in a clear tank so that i can be sure there are nothing stuck in the base.
Finally I found out what my fish has!! YES. But O no at the same time. Now I can figure out a way to treat it. I have been searching for about a month for another fish with these bumps and white marks. I was figuring it was tumors.
Freezing is a very harsh way to "put down" a fish. Their cells freeze causing ice crystals and basically explode. I know it is a recomended euthinazia method, but it is a horrible death. In the future you should put them in a bowl and add some clove oil. It works as a sedative and puts them to sleep then add enough to over dose them.
I am sorry you lost your fish, but happy the others have gotten a larger tank. I have never heard of the disease you mention though.
my black moore goldfish recently developed a spot on its head thats about as big around as a small pea
on the first day it was a darker shade of white but now its gotten even whiter and im wondering if it could be ich on its head? is it possible for ich to even form a spot on its head like that?
i dont think its that hole in head disease thing cuz its not indented at all or anything
that happend to mine and it killed all the fish i was on holiday with automatic feeder and when i came back 1 fish had it like yours i took it out i bought treatment so it was ok i left it out if tank for long time and all the others died for some reson they had no missinh skails nothing
Oh my goodness you guys! You're all wrong! First of all, that goldfish DOES have an internal parasite, which you can treat with medicated food. His organs are NOT eating themselves, it's the parasites living inside of him, that's why he has the stringy white and clear poo. Also, as you can tell from the lesions and floating things on his body, those are anchor worms, which are easy to treat with Jungle Parasite clear. You should've quarantined him, Those disease are highly contagious
this is called anchor worm. it is very rare in goldfish aquariums and is highly contagious. it is brought in by another fish, and you should do a search on the topic for your tank is more than likely still infested
Ok well, first thing would be to buy treatment, second is to move the fish into another tank so it doesnt spread to the others, third your over feeding.
OMG, why are you putting him in a tank with the other fish. It could be contagious! Always isolate the diseased fish from the rest. After the fish die, clean the tank with hot water before using it to raise other fish.
ohhh that looks nasty well take him out of the tank for a start to help prevent the disease from spreading but sorry i have no idea what could have happend here go to the nearest pet shop and ask :)
hey my white calico fantail has a black line on his body both sides same place as the otherone is something wrong with him or is it his gut hes eating and everything moves and swims
i have a little koi and its been acting really weird is like its completly off balance and he lays at the bottom of the tank and he swims side ways is it swim bladder? if so what do i have to do i have him in a hospitle tank feeding him some peas and i read a book and it told me to put some salt in it it said you can use table salt so i put a little of that in i hope he gets better ???
I actually did go to the pet store. the guy gave me a strong medicine for ick but it wasnt ick. it turns out it was microbacteriousus(im not sure if thats spelled correctly). the medicine for that is 200 dollars and its not even guarenteed to work. thats 200 for a 1 dollar fish
its called ick and he should be treated immediatley if you see this on your fish. OR a white filmy color. Go to your pet store and get treatment A.S.A.P. Ask for assistance chosing out your medicine at the store if needed.
i hAve 9 goldfish, now only 4 `em left coz` of the diseases called fungus, but now my 4goldfish seems pretty healthy, they swim very smooth and theyre so active but 2 of them still got a fungus and scales missing but im medicating them rytnow by puting anti bacterial and salt, etc. i wish they r still alive tommrw. hehe =]
I took care of him very well. I changed the water every week and put a whole crap load of stuff in the water to treat him. I also bought him from a low quality pet shop. When he died I burried him. He lived for a year.

Most of my fish had dieases,
Most common one i kept gettin was called fin rot.
And maybe sometimes swim bladder infection
Buhh as my dad says,
"you looked after them, you gave them i longer life than they probably would have got at the shop!"
Did you use any treatments or anythink?
