@LiveKillers89 The thing is, even on some of the less heavy songs, if you pull Brian's guitar part out of the mix he is doing some crazy hard riffing. Listen for it and feel the underlying power of Queens delivery. What I'm saying is the ten heaviest Queen songs might not be the obvious choices.
Freddie's range at 4:09-4:10 is unbelievable. I get chills at that part and there is no one that could hit those notes like Freddie. I love Queen....they are all amazing and untouchable by today's artists.
@MAJENMOTHER You are absolutely right....he hits a D5 in a song which he is always pushing his voice to the limit...... at the boundaries of human and superhuman (Freddie) ;)
What made Queen great was their ability to write great songs in any genre from speed metal, to hard rock, to funk, to disco, to new wave...you get the idea. These guys wrote music for guys like me who are way too ADD and ecclectic musically to stick to one genre. My burned CDs are so schizophrenic it's unbelievable. It's clear these guys aren't just traditional "rockers"... they're guys that truly love MUSIC. Whenever I try to make Freddie anything else but the best front man, I slap myself.
Totally agree. But what's more important they didn't jump from genre to genre, they just used any genre they wanted to created something new, but always in their own style. And that the sign of their greatness!
True. The director of Highlander didn't like it because he wasn't a fan of heavy metal but I think it's a song which proves why Queen could never be so easily dismissed by heavy rock fans.
and as for a kind of magic i do prefer the highlander version only slightly though i just think it sounds more magical to my ears than the common rock version
funnily enough queen hated this song and the producer did they said it was too heavy.
personally its one of my favourites i think this song has queen written all over it when i listen to this song it makes me feel good about myself love freddie's voice he can do anything opera heavy metal punk rock pop he is the man love you freddie wish you weren't taken from us miss you
not keen on queen+paul rodgers i only listen to queen with freddie singing they should of got gary mullen instead of paul rodgers i think gary has a better voice but i suppose queen didn't want someone who acts and can just about sing like freddie so there ya go old school queen forever for me

May I recommend the book 'A Concise Guide To Eighties' Music' by Karl Vorderman. The author is a big fan of this track.
