I used to manage a factory in India- it was about the only place in the area paying well. Consequently I had great power over who I let in, often abusing it horribly in order to gain sexual favours from women.
One time I recall demanding ‘oral service’ from a girl, even though her friends said her Dad’s funeral had been earlier that week. Still I demanded the full price of admission- though visibly upset, she went down on her knees before me; it was as if her tears lubricated my vile lust.
wait... so now its BAD to teach kids hard work?! I was 11 years old waking up at 5am everyday and busting my ass on the ranch. last time i checked, jobs are good.
Stop buying this crap and boycott these sweatshop companies. GAP knows that it has children slaving for them. Don't believe the lies.WAL-MART is another one.
@chizzy555 NOOOO!! I i would rather have an economic system where i can AFFORD TO BUY the product, regardless of the price instead of this senseless race to the bottom we have going on. falling prices should come from superior technology, innovation, and management, NOT CHEAP LABOR that only benefits a few and screws everyone else.
at the end of the day it costs 50p to make one of these items, and they sell it for 20/30 quid.so all that profit goes to the fatcats.the fatcats are NEVER gona put some of those profits into there workers wages,so the only thing they would do is put the price of products up.it happens in every store, every bank, every workplace in the world.just on different levels.the only end to this worldwide is govt enforcement on a national minimum wage worldwide.there taken advantage of unfit governments.
It isn't either the streets OR sweatshops - if children were not made to work, the work would have to be done by adults. If the adults are paid a decent wage, then they don't need the children to also work and then the children can go to school.
With education, the children can then make a better life for that generation and if their parents earn proper money, they can invest it in the community, thus enriching it.

I agree... this is a much better condition for the kids anyways. Very true that if they didn't work then they would be on the streets begging or stealing or prostituting. Besides they are dirty indian people anyways so who cares... they are the trash of the world and the world is ran by corruption anyways.
Hey kids... thats a size 13 shoe and a 32 pant... get back to work!
mrmaelis (and others), why is working in a sweatshop so much better than being on the streets? I suppose it depends on the sweatshop and the streets. Some sweatshops just pay a small amount; whereas others chain their workers up, ruin their health, don't provide any medical leave or benefits, and allow supervisors to sexually molest workers. I can guess there's a "scale of depravity" to cover the whole range of terrible working conditions faced by people in a sweatshop.
In the west; the only thing worse than a starving child is a child that works.. not to say that I wouldn't wan't to see them @ school, but rather a sweatshop then the streetz...
There are two incorrect things people are saying. First, sweatshop workers RARELY choose their job. They're promised a "good job" and end up working in a sweatshop. By the time they realize what's happening, they have no other alternatives. Second, sweatshops are better and better at extracting the most labor for the least cost; it's not like in the past; it's worse.
Whats wrong with sweatshops, back during the western Industrial Revolution, similar conditions persist in western countries. Most of the Asian countries only recently industrialized, let them develop more and it'll go away, just like it did in the west.
To the people that are comforting themselves by comparing the sweatshop to our industrial revolution OK, Weve been through that We should use our experience and avoid that thousand of lives are taken by overworking and low wages, child labour Not even a PHD economist is going to make me believe that large corporation cannot offer decent working condition that would respect humans There's a way of making $ without stealing lives of innocent children. Let's advocate for them, cause we know better.
I honestly did not know so many of these brands have sweatshops setup throughout the world. I don't like the idea of making children work in these conditions, it's just horrible.
i think most of what you say is true. BTW if people think clearly they already now that child labour is used by multinationals as GAP, nike, H&M. And its true if the children don't work in the sweatshop they mostly end up as warrior fighters, ore prostitutes. But also the truth is that children have to work in a way, to urn some money, they don't have a choice on that one, to pay of the checks because there simply to pore. i have to admit i have never seen it whit my own eyes, i just read a lot

What do-gooders tend to forget is that people CHOOSE to work in sweatshops because the alternative is worse. They go on their moral crusaded and have these places shut down - then they return to their comfortable lives and claim a "victory". As for the poor "exploited" workers, they now have no job, and the women probably turn to prositution to survive. Fuck the do-gooders.
@EvilMuppet1979 Extremely old comment, I know. But they're taking advantage of them. They could have a normal wage, but no. a few dollars a day, or something ridiculous like that... It's awful.
do u want these kids prostituting themselves and digging for scrap in toxic waste dumps or starve? As bad is it is working in a sweatshop its a dream compared to all the other alternatives available to them. thats life in the turd world
this is life in most of the world

If i were i child, i would wayyyy prefer working in a factory than resorting to prostitution.
Maybe some of you prefer to earn your living by being sex slaves, but I certainly do not.
