I don't have a mother, she ran off in 1985, my dad raised me and my sister from that point on, my dad passed july 26 2003, at that point, my mom, my dad, my entire family died that day ,all at once, he was the only family I ever had, my mother lives 5 hours drive from me, but I won't go see her because I don't have feelings for someone that I don't know, all the christmas's and birthday's, no response.
I listen to this song for my dad, the love I feel for him is enough for my entire family!!!
@keigger1 like you i grew up without a mother ,she left when i was 5and a half years old .i never saw her again until i was 36 and then i took my sons to meet her .she liked that but never kept any contact up unless i started it .my dad raised two girls and i think did a good job . he always said he would never ever be in the same room as her and meant it .she passed away three years ago and sadly my dad passed a few months after her .so chin up someone out here knows exactly how you feel.

@keigger1 I'm so sorry that this has happened to you. Well, my mama never ran off, but she wasn't too much in my life. She was a workaholic and loved her job and co-workers more than she loved me or my dad. So, I too, was very close to my dad. My dad died in 2003 also (April 1, 2003). I still miss him everyday. My mom are getting along now, but I let her be and she let's me be too. So, I know how you feel, really I do. God bless you & I wish you lots of luck in your life...

I think I am fortunate that my mom left when I was 12, instead of being there but not THERE. I lost my mom Easter Sunday-2011. Her birthday is July 22. On the way to bring her flowers,this song popped into my head(my dad used to play it when i was a kid). I pulled over to the side of the road and cried. It was the perfect song for the day.

I lost my mama August 11, 2009 in a car accident and when her birthday comes I like to listen to this song. I'm 17 years old I still wish she was still here she was only 36 years old when she died. Always be thankful for the mother you have you never know when the last time you will get to see her.

I often have bought roses for my mama, yellow ones. Her favorites. I loved to see her smile when she got them. In just two weeks I will be giving my mother roses again. Thank you so much, I cry each time I hear this. My Mom passed in '05 it wasn't her birthday but Christmas.....I always took my Mom Christmas shopping and brought her whatever she wanted. I was too late to take her Christmas shopping and I will never forgive myself for waiting too long. Instead of Christmas shopping I attending her funeral.
