  • i work 16s i bet u the maintainers are like fuck!!! dont bring that shit back. epu fired and the engine guys are bout to get htere peepee smacked lol. badass pilot though

  • Now that's a lawn dart driver.

  • I think when you have done gliding before you're familiar with it whenever these sort of things happen

  • Good job, Darth Vader.

  • very very very nice landing

  • One of the most impressive feats of aviating I've ever seen.

  • i maintain 16's that was bad ass but i know the maintainers were pissed they were prob like man he shouldve punched lol, new engine, and epu fun for E&E and crew chiefs. great pilot!!!

  • that is a great supportive guy there.

  • Back to private days! Nice landing Mr. Pilot!! That things glide ratio is probably terrible!!! 10,000 feet per mile?! lol

  • graycloud, I dont think so, look at his Heading/AS. He's roughly 3-4NM west of Rwy 10. Lucky he didn't drop it on Towne South church.

  • Keep that up son and they'll make an astronaut outa you yet! Great job!

  • Wonder where those drop tanks ended up. Might have killed a civilian to save the viper dude. wtf.

  • @birdpic1 I imagine the tanks went in the drink. He was over the water off coast of N.C.

  • Wow!Dead stick in something with a glide ratio of a brick. Impressive pilot.

  • wow, hydrazine is in rocket fuel, isn't it?

what type of jet fuel do F-16s use?

  • @applepan100 Jet-A (Kerosene, just like any jet aircraft)

  • @applepan100 JP-8, standard since 96, hydrazine is used in the EPU. Graycloud, civilian aircraft use Jet-A but not military fighters, they use JP-8.

  • Lets see, controller didn't know how much fuel or souls aboard, fine handling by the FAA. But then the crew kinda forgot to mention the EPU till the end.

  • @KatsToy pretty sure its all gravy, they prolly had previous contact/2ndary contact indicating mil bird in area. since its an f-16 it isn't too hard to figure out how many people are on board. agree with the fuel and epu call though. kinda critical and there was time on atc's end to roll trucks before he even lined up.

  • Any landing you can walk away from, is a good landing... This is exceptional, landing dead-stick after burn-out. Bravo.

  • What an amazing feat of Airmanship! No wonder Capt. Rose won the Kolligan Trophy! Way to go, Air Force! BTW, did one of your drop tanks really end up in a shirt on some surprised lady's clothesline? LOL!

  • btw he also won a Distinguished Flying Cross for this too....

  • I just read about this... (which is why I'm here....)

But the article said he dropped his reserve tanks in a big back yard of a house intentionally trying missing the houses around it. And so he did.

    yay for him....

  • @patton303 Let me guess....Air and Space mag?

  • I think you're right sir... : )

  • That's where I found out about it. Pretty neat story.

  • That landing would look really great on a resume for his application as a NASA Shuttle pilot...

  • @munggone "2 years ago"

    :(

  • nice job well done we all say hello from KLGB

  • Well done mate.

Great flying and landing. You could have ejected but you stuck with it, your training and expertese paid off. I'd love to buy you a drink.

  • that does bring tears to my eyes...Beautiful piloting...just beautiful, 5 stars

  • Never mind the super sonic fly-bys never mind the high tech bomb drops or the aerobatics.

THIS is why these guys are so good.
