The consumption of cow, or any other animal for that matter, is different from eating Guinea Pigs, thus making them not hypocrites. Meat is meat. If you consume meat, you need a source (animals). You have many to choose from including rabbit and Guinea Pigs. In some areas of the world their meat source could be anything like cat, dog, rat, pig, etc. What the source is is determined by if it is edible and if you want to kill it. In the USA people are very detached from where their food comes from. Go watch how cows pigs and chickens go from farm to table. For a small family, Guinea pig is more economical than say a cow.

When an animal lives with us we determine the time of it's birth and the time of it's death, and in between we have a responsibility to it's welfare. These guinea pigs obviously have a decent life, while they are alive. Much better than sad battery chickens or CAFO cattle or pigs.
The self-sustainable system is very humane and responsible.

Each time a guine gets pregnant she has a 20% chance of dying so the second time she reproduces she has a 40% chance of dyin cows and chickens dont. THIS IS SICK

Putting guinea pigs in wire cages over a pond is bad for them, guinea pigs are prone to bumblefoot and other nasty infections when housed on wire flooring and It will cause lots of pain for them. I like the fact that your trying to live sustainably and I agree, more people should but I just dont think using guinea pigs as a food source and keeping them like that is a good idea.

I love guinea pig's meat. Its the most healthy meat in the world. You should go to Peru and try it. They have more than 25 dishes made of guinea pig meat. I try it at the international food festival that is called "MISTURA" and took place every second week of September in Lima, Peru and everything is cheap for tourists (Y) $4 dollars each dish of the best restaurants.

When an animal lives with us we determine the time of it's birth and the time of it's death, and in between we have a responsibility to it's welfare. These guinea pigs obviously have a decent life, while they are alive. Much better than sad battery chickens or CAFO cattle or pigs.
The self-sustainable system is very humane and responsible.
People who don't want to eat them because they're "cute" are just prejudiced hypocrites with their head in the sand, unless they are fully vegan.

This is sickening. I almost puked watching this. It's wrong. And i get when people say you've eaten chicken and cow.., but those animals are more reproductive. Each time a guine gets pregnant she has a 20% chance of dying so the second time she reproduces she has a 40% chance of dyin cows and chickens dont. THIS IS SICK

Hey killing humans is just a cultural difference! mmm,that first bite. Soo tasty, its just a emotional issue. Other than that, human's are just so tastey! Yummmy, humans!!! Way cheaper too, just grab a sucker off the street and walla. You don't even have to raise the suckers, way more meat too. Everything tastes like chicken, Guinea pig, snake, rabbits, cats, dogs, and humans!!! I wonder what else I could kill?

I couldn't imagine eating a guinea pig. I mean like they are so cute. I have one which is so adorable and loves to cuddle. I don't hate any one who would like to try it it's just that I would never even think of cooking my sweet pet. Even if she died I would give her a proper burial like I did with my other guinea pig who died.

Gah...I dont agree with this, but then again I dont agree with using animals as a food source at all.
Putting guinea pigs in wire cages over a pond is bad for them, guinea pigs are prone to bumblefoot and other nasty infections when housed on wire flooring and It will cause lots of pain for them. I like the fact that your trying to live sustainably and I agree, more people should but I just dont think using guinea pigs as a food source and keeping them like that is a good idea.

I tried grasshoppers in Thailand with no preconception, and they were genuinely good. no joke. I would eat one right now.

@chelseaxx29 Who decides which animals are pets and which are food? Why is it okay to eat a chicken or cow but not a guniea pig? Believe me, you would find the idea of eating a hamburger repulsive if you raised a pet calf yourself. They are all animals and there is no rule that says that you can eat once animal and not another. There are just many different cultures. In India cows are sacred. Do you think that people that eat at MacDonalds are horrible?

Culturaly in Aus eating lamb is normal and theyre not considered a childs pet.
NO Im not embarrassed by my meat eating. Aus is known for it's lamb, mutton and beef and it's apart of our culture to eat them. Im a proud Aussie! I just think these lunatics make the rest of us look bad! I'm not saying a Lambs arent cute, my girlfriend loves them, Im saying you should get out of my face and realise that a little lamb is going to be killed and sold to a supermarket whether YOU eat it or not.

Besides I think that you can tell from the accents in the clip that neither of these people were born in Australia and as a multi-cultural country we should repect other cultures as long as they do not break our laws. It's not like they are trying to eat some poor kids guinea pig, they are raising these animals for food exactly like the baby lambs you buy at the supermarket were.

Guinea pigs are an ancient food, and food was pre-Inca cultures in Peru, with the arrival of the Spanish (settlers) guinea pigs leave the old world (Europe), and that's where they are considered as pets. So it's not bad to eat guinea pigs.
Currently in South America are bred on farms (Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and producing countries), are food for thousands of families.

@FTMMatthew Do you check if your vegetables have been grown without the use of fertalizers that may be derived from animals or animal by-products? I also wonder why is it okay to kill a plant to eat but not an animal, after all they are all living creatures. I'm a vegetarian and I try to grow as much of my own produce as possible and one thing I have learnt is that death is an inevitable part of life, not something we can prevent. The key is to provide a quality of life to all living beings.

I love guinea pig's meat. Its the most healthy meat in the world. You should go to Peru and try it. They have more than 25 dishes made of guinea pig meat. I try it at the international food festival that is called "MISTURA" and took place every second week of September in Lima, Peru and everything is cheap for tourists (Y) $4 dollars each dish of the best restaurants.

Cows, chickens and pigs are all babies too at some point before you eat them. Where is your sympathy for them? People eat lamb and the word lamb means baby sheep. Are you upset when people eat lamb? Anthonypadilla8 in case you haven't noticed the USA is only one of many countries. There is a whole world out there full of different cultures, languages and foods. In India for example cows are sacred so the thought of eating a beef burger there is repulsive. It is extremely small minded and racist to think that your cultural practices are 'right' and people who are different are 'wrong'. Why is it okay to eat a pig but not a guinea pig?
