  • my favorite part is the "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE!!!" part!!!

  • cute he's conducting....

  • BRAPPPP PULL DAT UP! REEEEELOAD

nah seriously tho, this is gay

  • Did anyone else hear Foxy Lady by Hendrix around 3:10?

  • this is terrible

  • "Value judgements are not in the nature of this work as regards either composition, performance, or listening - the idea of relation being absent, anything may happen." haha, pwned.

  • airpower

  • daft punk was the best part 4:55

  • I live for this.

  • Now I see why Harry Partch loathed John Cage. His work is ridiculous, just "random nonsense".

  • @TheReasonableLogic Harry Partch was an extreme eclectic just like John Cage.. Partch went for complexity and and Cage went for simplicity. Where Partch made 43-note octaves and invented new instruments, Cage just embraced natural sound as part of music.

  • John Cage, un emerito coglione che fortunatamente ha scelto il silenzio per esprimersi.

  • This is silly. Why does there have to be a conductor?

  • @PorroFirst In chance music, the conductor indicates when parts are to be played or in this case, radios to be turned on and off or station changes.

  • great video, but this is wack)

  • I'm glad that performing music no longer requires years of practice nor any talent -- just a few radios and some fingers to turn the knobs.

  • 3:42 wooooooooooooo beatles ;)

who incidentally achieved infinitely more than the layabout who composed this

  • somewhere John Cage is laughing

  • whoooo woulda thought.

this guy was genius, managed to write music that has music that wasn't even written yet, IN it..always renewing music.

    LOL..not

    @ 5:00 i hear Daft Punk

    :)

    "interpenetration."

    HAHAHA

"...for once anything happens, it authentically is."

    DEEP

  • whoooo woulda thought.

  • @JPaxton1616 You are a cunt. A dumb cunt. Grow the fuck up or get the fuck out. If you want to attack the music of an artist I happen to be very fond of, please have the decency to use proper fucking grammar. And spelling.

AND FUCKING PUNCTUATION. Please, my good sir, you only have to type ! once.

What the fuck, your comment doesn't even make sense.

  • I have to do a presentation on Cage in class, people are going to think i am nuts!

  • What if one of the radio stations started playing Imaginary Landscape #4 during this performance?

  • @UnoAcoustic very nice question xD

  • @UnoAcoustic , Then the radio would implode.

  • @UnoAcoustic Cageception O.O

  • @UnoAcousticw You'd get Imaginary Landscape No. 4 in Imaginary Landscape No. 4, or as I like to call it, Number-four-ception.

  • it played 'single ladies' by beyonce :)

  • I love the concept but did not like the final product. I don't want to get into an argument with you guys, but, what am I missing that I probably should be looking for

  • @SuperPigeonMaster

I think this kind of tracks are not made to be listened but understood (in order to use it in less "extreme" ways). I agree what you say !

  • alcuni se la ridono :)

  • A truly timeless piece of music. Well, as long as there are radios.

  • genius lol

  • How much money did cage make from this?

  • @ChaosDynamics Cage rarely made any money from his work. Most of his life was spent in poverty: He made lists in his appointment books that detailed what he was able to buy: he said later, "I wanted to make poverty elegant."

  • Did anyone else hear "Better sex in just a day?"

  • wow i didnt know Charles MAnson was in that class!!

  • Now you see on one hand that was awful but then you loo kat what Cage wants to do and you realsie WHY and but you dont like it. I like his philosophy but i dont particularly like the outcome.

  • Is this piece based on rhythm to put the radio's? As I see the sheet-music pages are turned very fast...

  • that's what's so special about the piece of music

  • that hip hop bit at 3:58 was brilliant.

  • only if they used more radios and if they were louder, i would like it more

  • @Sercan1995 cage specifically wanted 12 radios for 24 people, but i'm sure you can make an arrangement :)

  • Huh. Interesting how no matter matter how much time passes, the questions Cage brought up about the musical experience never seem to get less relevant.

  • Yeah, but they don't get more relevant either. They're kind of just...there.

  • @dominonermandi

What's totally irrelevant just can't get more irrelevant.

Cage made music that is interesting to read about rather than listen to.

  • Was this original Piece performed by Mr. Cage 1951?

  • reminds me of "revolution number 9" by the beatles ;oP

  • I can't live without my radio
