This is AVP kinda a reboot of the series, even though it takes place "after" the original games the people at rebellion and Sega says it has no direct connection to the other AVP games. They said this game takes place 30 years after Aliens 3 (The movie) and focuses more as a continuation of the alien and predator movies, so while yes this is techinically the third AVP game (not counting requiem for the psp and the original one by Atari) this game will be rebooting the franchise makng it just AVP
