R.E.M. is a great band just the way they are, they don't need to pound on the drums or go into extreme guitar solos like other bands, they are a calm band and still better than all those ones that do pound on their drums and go into those extreme guitar solos and try to show off. R.E.M are simulataneously well mannered gentlemen, apparent innocents, and ultra modern, clever rock stars- that is part of their brilliant genius, a mix that so very few have achieved, let alone with their longevity and progression of album themes. New Test Leper is a beautiful song and this album, recorded at studio soundchecks, has all the lyrical and intrumental mystery you could want in an R.E.M album.

It is a disgrace that co called 'DJs' will only play a handful of R.E.M.'s best known hits, as good as they are, when R.E.M. have got one the largest numbers of memorable songs of any band. 'New Adventures' really is a pleasure, partly a consolidation of the style of all their Warner Bros albums and partly new ideas. This song is also on a Christmas single, but even more acoustic. That version was the first version I´ve heard of this song, and I got a bit sad that they changed it when it came on the album. It´s an awesome song, but try listen to the christmas single version and you will melt!!!
