Why would people protest against donuts...protest what? Theyre just a freakin awesome donut shop why cant people chill? Serving people good pastries doesnt hurt anyone
I've worked in a number of institutions with various problems for years. Laughter by the patients, family and the staff about mental illnesses has always been present. Stigma is not going to go away and mental illness isn't going to go away either if the stigma does. I've seen people's situation improve with humor though. And as any comedian already knows, you cannot always determine beforehand who will find what funny. Making an issue of this is skirting the issue.
Thank you for lending some actual experience to the issue. I've met the orders and helped Kip brainstorm names for the donuts a few weeks before they opened. They're good people. These people are looking for something to be offended by, and it's causing them a lot of stress.
people who don't agree with porn shops don't go to them, people who don't believe a certain movie is appropriate doesn't go to it... its fine if your against it.. don't eat there. but lay off the people who feel like having a bipolar donut. my moms bipolar and she thought it was funny...
I'm assuming you're targeting the MHT donut with these. Head trauma as a plot device or slapstick has been a staple for entertainment for a LONG time.
A burn victim is completely different from someone with head trauma.
Making fun of someone with cancer is horrible.
9/11 was a specific horrific moment in history. The holocaust is, too, but I know many Jews who make holocaust jokes.
Joking about anything offensive may not be right to some degree, but you're overreacting.
well it is affensive i mean my sister has atism r they going to make a donut called austism lik they r offensive and yes my dad is brian miller the guy leading the protest no joke so . . . =z
Your dad should have spent more time teaching you how to spell. What is affensive and atism? Also, "lik they r", shows how educated and meaningful your opinion is.
I think this shop is a great idea, if people have a problem with it they don't have to buy donuts from there.
Secondly: The shop is making fun of craziness as a general concept in a very silly fashion. The kind of jokes this shop is making have NOTHING to do autism at all. You need to have a proper discussion with your father about what he's doing and get some specific answers instead of general metaphors and attacks. How old are you?
protect individuality don't bash it ,.i bet u most of these people want more laws for ridiculous things,. they can't function properly go sedate yourself from the cruel world PROTESTERS

a good way to brake down stigmas is to make light of it.

How about we make a burn victim donut? Or a bald headed chemo-patient donut?
Or maybe a burning twin towers donut with little people jumping out?
Hey, if you're offended, that's your problem, right?
You know, I'm kinda hungry for a holocaust victim donut right now. Screw any Jewish people who might be offended, they don't have to eat it, right??
You have to draw the line somewhere. Joking about mental conditions for profit simply isn't right!

Well tell your dad that 9 out of 10 people think he's an idiot.

Well I find what you just said is offensive to me. Does that mean you should not be allowed to say it?
huckster699 2 years ago
I agree with huckster, Your dad should do something productive, rather then waste his time by harrassing a donut shop.
