I agree orbs are some form of light energy coming from the Earth. It is more common during the winter months. Cameras with flash next to lens gets them more too. I live near Pea Ridge Civil War Battlefield and I get them also.
I have been investigating for about 5 years..went to gettysburg 2 times...unfortunatly I didnt get any solid evidence..I did get a few orbs in some pictures on the battlefield...I will say..that you get a really heavy feeling there..you feel as though there are people all around you...

2 all those that dont think ghosts r real, they r. I've seen them. on the night my grandfather died he came 2 me & stood @ the end of my bed & told me he was fine now, no more pain. the next morning my dad called me & told me he had passed away i asked what time & dad told me. it was the same time I saw him in my room that night. ever sense then I have seen & heard things in this world that u wouldnt beleave. keep your mind open 2 things u dont understand & maybe u will see 2.
These pictures are poignant thanks for posting. I am a Brit who is becoming increasingly interested in researching the Civil War. I can't understand why people have to launch into insults. my mom and me work for a ghostly images in gettysburg. and those of you who think ghost are not real then how do you expalne this! in the wheat filed there are 20 people standing around and the mist rolls out as always and a huge green ball of fire come out at you. and dont say oh its the devil or demons becuse it is not nor is it fake because i have pictures.
I was there about three weekends agao, July 2010, and saw bright flashes of light coming from the tree line just below Devils Den. It looked like someone was in the treeline with a flash camera. I actually captured one on video which I posted on my channel I hope to return soon.
@veekeeper25 There are two videos on the tube by a guy name TCBallinger. They were taken at Gettysburg. He's getting a lot of head from commenters calling the video a complete fake. I myself have some doubts about the confederate ghostly imiges he recorded but both of his video do capture the bright flashes of lighst that I saw and recorded. I absolutely believe there is paranormal activity at Gettysburg and I belive my video proves it.

There are indeed stories of ghosts & strange occurrences at Waterloo, Verdun, Stalingrad, Auschwitz, Grey Friars Cemetry & the Covenanters' Prison in Britain, etc. All places where there was carnage & extreme emotion.
The wife and I went on a private small ghost tour with another couple back in early June. When we were standing near the water at the far end of Sachs Bridge all of the cameras(two digi cameras and a camcorder...all with fully-charged batteries) died at the exact same time. At that moment our guide said something bumped against her leg. I have no idea if she was telling the truth since I can't honestly say that I sensed anything at the time but I know what I saw. It was kinda wild.
this last weekend, I went on a ghost walk and we took my little 12 week old puppy there. my dog was shaking the whole time but i kept my mouth shut as not to interrupt the tour guide. He said that we were going to the most haunted stream in Gettysburg. He said that the paranormal was only experienced by the young and innocent. As soon as we got down there My mom and I both were nauseous and my dog, Katie was barking at nothing. I could show you some pics of a ton of orbs and a gore-filled stream
I got back from there yesterday my freind got an orb on a street bench on his camera and a freinds mother got this light flourecent green liquid on these stairs and it wasn't there when she took the picture
People just don't believe in things that can't be explained. I believe in what some of you are saying about orbs etc. I went to the Carnton Plantation where the battle of Franklin, in Tennessee was fought. I took pictures with my digital camera on a clear cold night. I had orbs in the pictures so thick that one would think a child was blowing beautiful bubbles.
There is definately something going on on those Battlefields where so many men lost their lives. This home "Carnton" was once used as a hospital during the battle of Franklin, many men died inside this home as well as outside on the grounds. It is said to be the most haunted home in Tennessee. Just off the back of his home is a Confederate private cemetery on the McGavock property, It is the only one of it's kind. I believe!
all of these pics are orbs, and all ghost experts (like me) know that orbs are 95% bugs, rain, snow, or dust. However there is this a 5% chance that orbs are really balls of spirit energy.
I was walking in the wooded area next to Sachs Bridge and got a very sudden chill, one of those deep chills that makes you shake. I wanted to get in the car and get the heck out of there. I found it very strange.
Sachs Bridge is said to be haunted by a malevolent ghost of an eldery man. I grew up In Gettysburg and as a teen we used to go out to that bridge quite a bit....it is a creepy place at twilight/evening...there is definitely something out there...
orbs are not ghosts, they are proved to be dust or bugs, even taps says so and throws that away as non evidence. you had flash on and your lights flashed on mosquitos
Now remember it was like 90plus degrees that day, and of course it was in July. I'm telling you that if I, along with everyone else did not feel it, no one would believe me. My friend we were standing on the skirmish line in the woods at the exact minute when the 123rd NY skirmishers would have been engaged. Everything in the woods got still. Completely still and the temperature dropped ALOT. I'm from Vermont and I know when there's a temp. drop. It got cold and we all just looked at each other.
We went to Culp's Hill on the exact date of the anniversary of when the 123rd NY was engaged on Culp's Hill. The 123rd was a regiment that we portrayed at different times. Now you have to realize that I was with guys who are so knowledgeable about the battle, that they even know of specific trees, rocks, landmarks, etc that were mentioned in different soldier's diaries. Yeah, that knowledgeable. We were standing forward of what remains of the earthworks and were on the actual skirmish line -
playing tricks, wishful thinking, overzealousness, etc. I'm just an ordinary guy who was a big Civ War buff at one time and like I said was a re-enactor. But let me tell you that I, myself, while with my re-enacting group experienced something kind of like "odd" one evening while visiting the Culp's Hill part of the field. Like they've said in documentaries there was a lot of deep, deep emotion, anguish, and pain expended on that field. Thousands of men. Yes, my friend. Something's up there.
I can't really tell you where it could be looked at, even though I'm sure someone could help. However, I just want to tell you first off, I'm a former Civil War re-enactor. I've studied the battle over and over and have taken part in the annual re-enactment. Just smile and realize that you actually probably do have something authentic there. I would never be one to admit such a thing, but yeah my friend there is something going on at that park. Some would tell you that it's your mind -
Dude ive been to gettysburg like 5 times ive seen shit too orbs are nothing i have full body pictures and video tapes you get something more than orbs to impress me
the music is from the soundtrack of the movie "Gettysburg", it is called Killer Angels. If you get the chance to view the movie please do so, you will be very moved.
My understanding is that the little orbs in photos are dust which light bounces off of when one uses his camera flash. That being said, large orbs have been witnessed which clearly are not dust - what they are...completely up to you guys.
We were just at Gettysburg on Monday. Little Round Top and the Devils Den are 2 incredible places. I think, when one lets themselves go with their imagination, you can feel your emotions run wild. Gettysburg is one place you HAVE to do this at to get the feeling of what went on there. As far as dirt on the lens,,, everyone has their own opinion. I took some pictures (wish I would have taken more). I got one that has 10 orbs on it. The next pic has none.
Orbs really don't give any evidence of it being somewhat of a ghost, and I believe in ghosts. And to people who are always anticipating or are anxious to see a ghost.. please bring logic into your mind .
Then what are orbs? If not evidence of a spiritual presence? If the conditions are right, dry, clear, no smoking etc. etc. I myself have capped orbs in some of my digital photos under the "right" conditions at family gatherings they are around certain people in the family, I feel they are evidence of a presence given the correct circumstances. Please bring logic to your mind? That is a strange statement.
I see by an earlier post you made that I don't think you really believe in ghosts, I just don't understand why people who don't believe bother to come to these sites. And I also can tell that you are not an authority on orbs as spirit presences. I tried to explain to you my experiences with orbs but you refuse to have an open mind. Also your posts don't make a lot of sense.
I've had my experiences, so of course I believe in ghosts but i'm not just going to say "I saw an orb, it's definately a ghost". And for one, i'm not trying to say what you saw on your pic, wasn't a ghost.. it could be anything.
to my fallen confederate brothers...i salute you, to the fallen federals...i salute you...i thank you for your honor and bravery, for without it this country would be nothing
There is something about Gettysburg that brings people back over and over.
No one can fully understand just what it is that draws us. But the history, honor, bravery and just wonderful town and people are some of the reasons i keep going back.
On a recent trip to Gettysburg my wife and I had several personal experiences....Anyone would be a idot if they didn't believe that Gettysburg was haunted
I just got back from gettysburg and got "orbs" on my camera also but I didnt feel anything. Its strange,, I also get orbs in places that are not haunted like my recently biuld house or at Disney world. It would seem that this is a very common occourance that maybe could be explained by the fact that a camera is not an infalible device. But saying that orbs are "ghost", in the hope of afterlife is much more fun and easier. Im with you!
i just went to gettysburg last month!!i thought i saw a ghost in my parents room but in the morning i found out it was a lamp shade!!stupid me!!!!!!!!!!
Those do appear to be orbs. Although the little bright lights are fire flies. We constantly have to enhance and screen all our photos to debunk the dust and water vapor from real orbs. But they do look genuine as I viewed them quickly.
I'm surprised people are allowed over there at night... I'd have thought the cops wouldn't want people roaming around the park after dark. Personally, I'd be scared of being mugged... I suppose I'm just a citygirl like that!
Sorry to say, but, those looked like bug and dust orbs.
MeXMac10, it's people like you that end up believing ghosts, because for some odd reason it seems that when ghosts might know they are dead.. they know what others think.
This is the comment in which you imply that you don't believe in ghosts and I never said that all orbs are the presence of a spirit, I know some are just dust or other lens obstructions I also know when it is a greater possibility that it is a spirit presence. And again your posts sometimes are not easy too understand your wording is strange.
omg i went to gettysburg for a trip anbd i swear[along with my roommates] there were ghosts in the hotel....our door opened in ther middle of the night, and it was locked!
I was just at gettysburg over the weekend and when I was a piketts charge no ghost really said anything. But when we were at spangler spring we did hear alot of ghost and when we were leaving the ghost hunter asked do u want to say anything else to us?And the ghost said with a scary tone GET OUT!
Ok once i was at the field were pickett made his charge and i was joshing with my and i was running then i got close to a fence and i herd a loud BOOm knocked me dead on my feet i dont no what happened
there may not be a ghost, but the video is very pretty, i have been to Devils Den i love it there and just looking aroung Ghettysburg! its truly and amazing spot, but sad!
I didn't see anything. AT ALL. No 'orbs', no apparitions, no nothing. Oh wait, it's the 'feeling' you got there that meant it was haunted. Of course. Forget the fact that it was nighttime, you were probably tired, and darkness always freaks you out when you think you're gonna see a 'ghost'. Maybe you should stop being so gullible to what T.V. tries to make you believe, because you know what, unless you show me actual evidence, ghosts aren't real.
i was there for the 145th gettysburg reenactment. Let me just tell you, when i went, i went to see picketscharge on the same day it happended, at the same place and the same hour. I got a shiver down my back and thoiugh ui heard a faint roar and boom. It will make you cry.
i would love to go to gettysburg. I would love to fly over to america from England and just tour around loads of battlefields. One day i will do it :) i dont really believe in ghosts but some vids on youtube and photo's ive seen og gettysburg ghosts have actually got me thinking. the music is from the film gettysburg. Just love it.
im going to gettysburg in late august, im bringing my girlfriend, i know she will be bored, so im thinking about doing the ghost tour, something to at least freak her out, cause im big on the battles and locations and all that good stuff and i know she wont be but never done the ghost tour, can anyone give me any info on it, when is the best time to go? i would think pretty late near sunset, and do you need to book ahead of time?
they have a schedule there. i go there alot. find that place you wanna go (theres usually signs like for the candle light ghost tours) and go there to see times and costs the day before you wanna go on a tour
Try the Farnsworth House on Baltimore Street. I just went there last week. You can do different kinds of "ghost" stuff. I went in the cellar of the house to listen to stories then went on a ghost walk where a guide takes you around and tells you more stories. Nothing seemingly creepy happened, but it was interesting and the guides were very cool. You can get tickets in the bookstore by the Farnsworth House the day of (or at least I did).
go to the ghost tour thats in the jenny wade house. they give you time to take pictures and they are very imformitive about the history of the ghosts and other siting. p.s take a pictures of the windos of the jenny wade house you might get a face in the window. i did.
I live on hamiltons crossing here In Fredericksburg Va. (battle of fredericksburg )I lived in my house for 18 years I live alone stuff gets moved around I hear people walking upstairs my girlfriend use too live with me she gets freaked out ..She saw a ghost image of a small boy walking down the stairs and a ghost image of a man few times I hear it she see it..
o shut up! u go to gettysburg and u get orbs dont act all special and pretend they arnt orbs u know ther there and everyone hu looks at ur photos and knows wat one looks like they knows ther ther! i can show every picture i took in gettysburg has at least one orb in it now give the lost souls respect, we know ther ther and we want them to rest!
All the yellow ones are lightning bugs, I was just there last night and got the same effect. A lot of the orbs also could be dust or specks of pollen blowing around and reflecting your flash.
I love Gettysburg and the paranormal. It has a different feeling over it that you can't always feel in other places.
For me, when I went there for the first time, it gave me chills to think of all the men who fought and died on the ground that I stood on, and were now somewhere in the fields watching all the people from a different time come and tour the grounds. Its cool because its like you're right there from your ancestors and you cant help but think a 'thank you' when you walk around.
Many paranormal experts believe Gettysburg to be "The Most Haunted Place in America". I've made the trip to see (and feel) for myself-- and there is definitely something to it. If ghosts exist-- and I believe they do-- 50,000+ casualties in one location is undoubtedly going to leave a psychic imprint.
Thanks for sharing your photos, Peggy... and the music you chose really enhanced the over-all package. Beautiful!
Thank you so much for your comments, I appreciate hearing something positive amongst all the illiterates out there. The music is from the film Gettysburg and I felt it was very appropriate.
We never hear about the Ghosts of Hiroshima or Nagasaki, or Waterloo, or Verdun, or the Somme, or the Bulge, Stalingrad, or Normandy, or more recently Columbine, Ground Zero, Virgina Tech, the 9th Ward of N. Orleans, the Minnesota Bridge Collapse. Where are their ghosts. What is it exactly about mass casualties that has to leave a "psychic imprint." If anything the psychic imprint is, we know the history, we know the horror and carnage, we know the sacrifice. We invent ghosts
Free your mind, Neo. A "psychic imprint" is merely residual energy-- it does not necessarily denote a haunting. Nonetheless, there are accounts of paranormal activity (which cannot be readily dismissed) for virtually every location you've mentioned, not to mention an infinite number of haunted locations of no importance or significance whatsoever.
Perhaps you should do a little (or a lot of) research before you post on this topic because you're clearly out of your depth.

@veekeeper25 Jesus is coming...2000 years later...Jesus is coming...
And it will go on and on until some day in the year 2050 we humans have designed a superior artificial computer intelligence who will announce:
"It's time to wake up and stop waiting for Jesus. Your God was imaginary. I'm your first real God."
And we will realize that human innovation has gone too far and the first true God ever is our very own creation taking over control of our planet.

ForeignerPhan 2 years ago
this last weekend, I went on a ghost walk and we took my little 12 week old puppy there. my dog was shaking the whole time but i kept my mouth shut as not to interrupt the tour guide.

SoBelleofTN 2 years ago
There is definately something going on on those Battlefields where so many men lost their lives. This home "Carnton" was once used as a hospital during the battle of Franklin, many men died inside this home as well as outside on the grounds. It is said to be the most haunted home in Tennessee. Just off the back of his home is a Confederate private cemetery on the McGavock property, It is the only one of it's kind. I believe!
SoBelleofTN 2 years ago
all of these pics are orbs, and all ghost experts (like me) know that orbs are 95% bugs, rain, snow, or dust. However there is this a 5% chance that orbs are really balls of spirit energy.

I was walking in the wooded area next to Sachs Bridge and got a very sudden chill, one of those deep chills that makes you shake. I wanted to get in the car and get the heck out of there. I found it very strange.
KnightOwl2006 2 years ago
Sachs Bridge is said to be haunted by a malevolent ghost of an eldery man. I grew up In Gettysburg and as a teen we used to go out to that bridge quite a bit....it is a creepy place at twilight/evening...there is definitely something out there...

I'm from Vermont and I know when there's a temp. drop. It got cold and we all just looked at each other.
rackasaurus 2 years ago
We went to Culp's Hill on the exact date of the anniversary of when the 123rd NY was engaged on Culp's Hill. The 123rd was a regiment that we portrayed at different times. Now you have to realize that I was with guys who are so knowledgeable about the battle, that they even know of specific trees, rocks, landmarks, etc that were mentioned in different soldier's diaries. Yeah, that knowledgeable. We were standing forward of what remains of the earthworks and were on the actual skirmish line -
rackasaurus 2 years ago
playing tricks, wishful thinking, overzealousness, etc. Something's up there.
rackasaurus 2 years ago
I can't really tell you where it could be looked at, even though I'm sure someone could help. However, I just want to tell you first off, I'm a former Civil War re-enactor. I've studied the battle over and over and have taken part in the annual re-enactment. Just smile and realize that you actually probably do have something authentic there. I would never be one to admit such a thing, but yeah my friend there is something going on at that park. Some would tell you that it's your mind -

And to people who are always anticipating or are anxious to see a ghost.. please bring logic into your mind .
nevadaresident 2 years ago
Then what are orbs? If not evidence of a spiritual presence? If the conditions are right, dry, clear, no smoking etc. etc. I myself have capped orbs in some of my digital photos under the "right" conditions at family gatherings they are around certain people in the family, I feel they are evidence of a presence given the correct circumstances. Please bring logic to your mind? That is a strange statement.
YMCAinstructor 2 years ago
Orbs can be anything, what i'm trying to say is that you can't just find this sphere type of image and start saying it's a ghost.
nevadaresident 2 years ago
I see by an earlier post you made that I don't think you really believe in ghosts, I just don't understand why people who don't believe bother to come to these sites. And I also can tell that you are not an authority on orbs as spirit presences. I tried to explain to you my experiences with orbs but you refuse to have an open mind. Also your posts don't make a lot of sense.
YMCAinstructor 2 years ago
I've had my experiences, so of course I believe in ghosts but i'm not just going to say "I saw an orb, it's definately a ghost". And for one, i'm not trying to say what you saw on your pic, wasn't a ghost.. it could be anything.

TheBonnieRose 3 years ago
MeXMac10, it's people like you that end up believing ghosts, because for some odd reason it seems that when ghosts might know they are dead.. they know what others think.
nevadaresident 3 years ago
This is the comment in which you imply that you don't believe in ghosts and I never said that all orbs are the presence of a spirit, I know some are just dust or other lens obstructions I also know when it is a greater possibility that it is a spirit presence. And again your posts sometimes are not easy too understand your wording is strange.

XxGiveMeMalicexX 3 years ago 2
I went there in march, I have to say that this is one special place. It does have an eerie feeling but I love it.
I took the ghost tour, and the tour guide was great. We heard so many cool stories.
My friends and I caught a few pictures of orbs.
A magical place in my opinion.
If you are thinking about visiting gettysburg I highly suggest you do.
Superskkinnykid 3 years ago
Many paranormal experts believe Gettysburg to be "The Most Haunted Place in America". I've made the trip to see (and feel) for myself-- and there is definitely something to it. If ghosts exist-- and I believe they do-- 50,000+ casualties in one location is undoubtedly going to leave a psychic imprint.
Thanks for sharing your photos, Peggy... and the music you chose really enhanced the over-all package. Beautiful!
CityofDreadfulDelite 3 years ago

TigerRifle1 2 years ago
Free your mind, Neo. A "psychic imprint" is merely residual energy-- it does not necessarily denote a haunting. Nonetheless, there are accounts of paranormal activity (which cannot be readily dismissed) for virtually every location you've mentioned, not to mention an infinite number of haunted locations of no importance or significance whatsoever.
Perhaps you should do a little (or a lot of) research before you post on this topic because you're clearly out of your depth.
