  • You look retarded, no offence.

  • @QcPride It's only offensive to retarded people.

  • A technikára koncentrál? És hol a technika? ...

  • Albert, do you get tons of chicks? Just asking cuz your in incredible shape plus your a good teacher with personality.

  • If you want to learn how to throw a left hook watch videos of Felix Trinidad. Trinidad v Vargas is a good one.

  • some thing wrong in your leg

  • fuk you

  • i got aids watching this

  • keep pressing 7 8 and 9 for ultimate fist pump!!! LOLOL

  • Holy shit, I've been looking for a video about a left hook with simplicity and detail for so long, do you have any videos about doubling hooks? like left hook to the body and then left hook to the head? anyway to get speed for that?

  • I wouldn't listen to much to the youtube tough guys, it looks pretty good to me... Although Chuck Norris would kick your ass :)

  • @mikryan123 what the fuck is up with you stupid chuck norris loving faggots... As if you werent pathetic enough already... He was an AWFUL actor and an AWFUL fighter who has no credible wins under his belt at all and has done nothing impressive in the world of MA... idiots like you are the same type of retards that live in their mothers basement, with no job, no girlfriend, no friends...waste of life...hahahahaha

  • @thecrazyoftheinsane Your a douchebag. Chuck norris was the middleweight champion for 6 consecutive years. Won the Karate triple crown for most wins in a year. Probably not quite as good as your record I'm sure... Douchebag

  • man, i like this punch. Im curious though about the reach of it, which part will be hit?

  • Knees. You didn't teach them the locked elbow,90 degree hand. Your left foot while hooking should never turn more than 90 degrees inward. Yours went above which would leave your stance weak.

  • @DeathrowRecords95 Good observations. I exaggerate the pivot for my shadow routines. I do take risks and my technique is certainly not infallible, I think you should post some videos too. I think my goal is to get people to practice their boxing technique outside the box to bring some perspective to something they might be having trouble with. Often exaggerating a technique makes something click, and is not actually replicated in a real fight where efficiency and safety are key.

  • @albertpope you mean in real world, you lack space and time to perform the punch?

  • @Morphinos No, in real time the punch motion happens faster, so the pivot and the knee bending is less. In real-time, you sacrifice power for timing. Timing is more important than power.

It is best to practice techniques using the whole range of motion. This insures that you can execute techniques with a good range of motion and still be fast enough to catch the instantaneous opportunity.

But remember, often the punch that hurts the most is not powerful, just well timed.

  • @albertpope that makes sense, so timing is essential. How about efficiency and safety, i see you have mentioned these. Where do they fit in a real fight? I appreciate your answers.

  • @Morphinos The safest is to stay out of real fights. If you know how to punch hard, you will only break your hand on his face, and risk your entire boxing career. If you can't run away, then kick, elbow, head butt, and choke in a real fight. Not worth risking your hands landing a punch on a guy's forehead. Don't worry about efficiency in a real fight, if you are trained, push your opponent and he will tire first.

  • @albertpope You got a point there, safest is to stay out of fights but i like the saying Be nice and carry a big stick. Back to the hands issue, i never thought the head could inflict this much damage to the hands when punching. This insightful, thanks man.

  • @albertpope I don't agree on this one completely. There is a risk in breaking your hand in a punch without gloves, but this happens more often with boxers, because it's a fact that most of you don't know how to punch without them. No offence.

  • @albertpope You shouldn't be punching them in the forehead. Do what I do, cut about in Dianese Black Jack motorcycle gloves.

  • @albertpope I appreciate your desire to bring about a "think outside of the box" approach, this is what I have seen in your other videos where you discuss the benefits of shadow boxing over bagwork in order to train yourself to find the right angle in order to land a good solid punch. however I do feel that you pivot your front leg a little too much in order to gain power and people may feel inclined to exercise it completely as shown by you which is simply not feasible when fighting.

  • @albertpope Al you doin a good job man forget these sideline critics you are teaching the basics and what you're told is do what feels comfortable small details arent really important in a video, if you were training a student I'm sure you would teach him to throw the hook properly as you walk him thru.Nobody does anything 100% correct especially in the ring plus a fighter/trainer knows a mistake isnt a mistake if you cant make the guy pay.

  • @albertpope That actually makes a lot of sense-it reminds me of how some dynamic stretches mimic and exaggerate the movements of a particular sport, hence preparing the body/nervous system to perfrom that sport's movements. Anyway, what is a good way for a novice to practice shadow boxing, both for self-defense and fitness purposes?

  • @albertpope dont listen to bullshit man....keep doing your job....people who look for the videos obviously we know is 90 degrees position for hooks.....and you exagerate for obviously teach...!!!!no worries...thanks man.....

  • I think he has the broad-strokes right, and i like the tip about switching to become more comfortable with throwing the left, personally, but I woudn't want anyone short of training stumbling across this video and actually using this as a bounce. The exaggeration of the pivot actually looks like a courship with disaster tome.

  • Fort Greene Park. Totally understand about the style difference with the exaggerated pivot. To be honest I don't think it happens when I spar or fight, but I try to sit on my punches really hard when practicing technique, and it's a habit now. I think of throwing a left look like throwing a left cross from a southpaw stance. Weird, I know...

  • is it just me but does he put to much physical "emphasis" on the pivot. I understand how important it is to pivot and twist to generate maximum force in a punch, but i just don't like this guy's striking style. But overall, a nicely explained video

  • Nice vid. Kinda looks like there's a break in your elbow when you snap your hook though. Not sure if your doing that on purpose or not. Great way to explain the mechanics though.

  • Nice video. Is that prospect park?
