  • 57,089 viewers watched you damage your lens.

  • Nice friend at $100 is more like a gift.

  • Very annoying! No talking skills! And get a better camera!!!

  • I treat my camera just as bad as this kid. So the fuck what!

  • u need to review handling equipment 101!!! dang!!

  • Would this work on a canon rebel t3?

  • When you put a lens on or anything you should face the camera mount down to prevent dust from falling into the sensor :)

  • oh my god i cringed watching this ....do not touch the element so much.

  • can I ask you a ? When I am shooting, it always zooms back to macro instead of infinity why would it do that? Thanks,,,,

  • its a ok lens i still have the one that came with my 7d but it gets alot of dust in it from the zoom so its not a good beach/rain or snow lens and it has lens creep so your gonna get dust in the lens and its a 3.5 to 5.6 so if your at 24mm at 3.5 and zoom out its gonna change to 4 or 5.6. just some things to keep in mind before you spend $400 on this lens. but i have got some great bokah the AF if ok and its full time manuel focus its a much better choice for full frame.

  • HANDS TOO CLOSE TO THE REAR ELEMENT !! :O

  • holy shit!!! be more gentle with your equipment! damn! photography is an expensive passion, job, or hobby and you just handle your stuff like its cheap. awwwww this video bothered me so much.

  • Eww, just give that lens to me and i'll take care, really really take care of it..

  • hi,

Is the AF noise noticeable when shooting video with this lens ??!!

    cheers,

  • @euyoooo It's completely silent in mine.

  • @PhotoTeen

    thanks

  • FOr a moment there I thought you were carrying a Rubic's Cube.

  • how is it in dark light conditions i use a 50mm 1.8 mostly i wanted to get a hold of a 28mmf/1.8 but im really thinking this lens for now what do you think or anyone thinks i should get first

  • I am entering Fashion Photography, I want to do it for a living and now i'm changing equipment. I am on a low budget and I would like to know opinion on the utilities for this lenses with my future 5D. I used to shot with a 400D and 2 lenses (a canon 18-55 and a sigma 70-300) that need replacement because they have no stability. May I ask for your advice? Thank you so much!

  • the intire Body is metal? isnt the outer material Plastic?

  • I love how you put your fingers all over the lens opening... you must be a pro.

  • Does it make the camera top heavy?

  • What lens would you recommend for capturing/recording snowboarding/skateboarding?

  • this lens is what im raffling LOL

  • Are you rotating the lens while in autofocus? And I see you said you use your equipment to the limits, but why limit your equipment by rubbing your hands all over the element? I don't think you have a clue what you're doing!

  • Did he slide his finger over the glass at :23? Yikes!

  • Hi there, I heard your getting a 50D, i have one but without the battery grip, and just wondering on your 30D with the battery grip whats the balance like of the camera with that lens? (As I assume you haven't got the battery grip for the 50D) but then again maybe you have :]

  • the lens itself is loose and falls in and out of zoom by its own weight, but i thinks this is a fault of all this models, but great lens as i have mine too

  • no zoom creep for this one right?

  • you could use a macro extension tube to get closer than 1.5 feet for macro shots :)

  • what a great bargain!!!

  • when i saw you touch the rear element i literally cringed

  • Can you switch those any harder man?

  • Ouch! that poor lens!

  • can i put a full frame lens like this on a APS-C sensor camera like my 450d/XSi ?

also i want to rent or buy and return a 15mm fisheye for a 2 week trip..but its 650$!! do u kno anywhere cheap to rent? 10$ day? how is renting? i live in Southern California.

and stop crying over the way he handles HIS OWN FUCKING LENS you idiots damn

  • Just a tip, when you're buying accessories, don't buy directly from Canon if possible, that saves you a good amount of money for the same item from some where else.

  • great review. and don't listen to people telling you how to handle your own gear. i don't know why people care so much, b/c it's you who have to clean up the smudges anyway. (i don't touch the glass precisely for that reason, but that's just me.) keep up the good work.

  • does this camera work with full frame sensor cameras?

  • $100? you've got good friends! lol

  • who wants to buy this lens from me?

  • clutching at straws commenting on the lens cap? :P

  • Never mind the rear element moving for dust reasons, your grubby hands and leaving the lens without a cover on is a far greater risk.

  • I wish I could hit you for man handling that damn lens.

  • its called full frame buddy!

  • Learn to properly handle a lens, kid. Good lens though.

  • I just bought this lens at a swap meet (came with hood!) so far so good. I like. There is dust inside the front lens. I can not see it on the final images because it is beyond the focal range but still, it should not be there. Any ideas how to get it? Any internet search just winds up with the standard outer cleaning. If you know where to point me I would greatly appreciate.

  • i just subscribed. what do you use to clean your lens from fingerprints the actual lens not the filter. thanks

  • i have a question is it normal if the focus ring keeps on rotating after it passes the macro

  • @3guys1girlandfetus Yea. its fine. mine does that and I think its just because the ring doesn't have a stopper inside after any given point. Its also probably because its a manual focus override.

  • I'm gonna have to agree with most of these guys that you are a reckless jackass with photo equipment. Careless is probably an understatement. But in all fairness, it is after all your equipment, and I can see the point you make about not being a freak about it. You reall should up your handling skills, though.

  • @PhotoTeen A few dings and rub marks on a camera and lens body is acceptable but to deliberately put your dirty greasy fingers on the front or rear lens is criminal.

  • @PhotoTeen your a moron, and obviously the 60 or so people that have put thumbs up on the two comments agree, thats a terrible attitude to take towards camera equiptment, if you dont appreciate it, sell it on ebay for like $300d and get a crappy $60 18-55mm EF-S canon kit lens, the grease on your fingers eats through the anti-reflective coating.

  • @PhotoTeen you're a spoiled fool.

  • i agree with you the only bad thing is it dont come with a lens hood i also had to shell out 30.00 bucks for one over all great walk around lens.

  • Wow, you're pretty rough. I'm not gonna let you handle my SLR... Nice lens though. I might buy it.

  • what good is lens hood for?

  • @StevenRHaz Helps with glare.

  • $100? You have really good friend

  • on a camera like 450D what will be the focal length?

  • How do you know the front element isn't metal? it's probably just transparent aluminum!(jk)

  • Quit touching the element!!!! Damn!

  • i know right? i cringe everytime he touches the rear element, i dont mind the fromt element as much but it still grinds my gears

  • @myself71594 agree with this too..dude needs to quick rushing through everything and touching the elements.

  • @myself71594 was what I was thinking. Maul marks all over it and he sticks it straight on the 30 lol

  • EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM or EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

  • i can understand f/3.5 or f/5.6 but what does f/3.5-5.6 mean.

  • f/3.5-5.6 means that the aperture can be set at 3.5 at 28mm and 5.6 at 135mm

  • it means .............

when your lens at 28mm the maximum aparture is F3.5

and when your lens at 135mm the max A is F5.6

same theory applies to most of the zoom lens

    thanks you

  • its the size of the mount, also

  • hi do you think this lens is good for fashion photography and portrait photography and if there are any other lenses which would suit me better than this lens could you please recommend that would a great help

  • This lens would be alright.

The Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L USM is probably your BEST bet though.

  • It depends on how much of a person you're showing.

If you want the whole person standing, you can use a 50-70mm lens. If they sit down, a 70-105mm works great.

Get 105mm lenses "the perfect portrait lens."

If you want a tight head shot, you have to do it from too close for comfort with a 50mm lens, making a 50mm lens a poor choice for head shots. When you're only a foot or two away, noses grow and ears disappear.

  • No offenses, it is lens. Not len :)

I am very glad to hear that you've purchased this lens, it will bring a very diverse array of photographic possibilities near to your horizon. I will not post an example photos video, however, there is a link to my flickr account here on my channel profile with plenty of shots form it!

    Thanks!

  • well done, Great review of this len

I am really looking forward to seeing you a second video about the usage of this len!

after a while of use of this len, you must have some (either good and bad) experience about this len! and I would like to see you to comment the build quality and image quality (some internal factors etc...)

it would be great if you can post some example picture on here. but anyway, I have purchased my own 28-135mm len just because I have seen this video and

  • Hey,great videos ... you just said u used it in a wedding...I also wanna earn a little bit so how did u get our first photography assignment? I have clicked around 7 -8k photos...please give some tips or suggestions .thnk you.

  • You've got to get niticed by other local photographers, and try to shoot with them. Its basically an apprenticeship.

  • I got this lens and I really hate it !!! it's heavy with low quilty and not good for the macro I wud give it 2 out of 10 ;p

  • to be honest. it is not the lens it is you who use the lens I used it for professional use sometime it work fine !

  • I know but I'm talking about things which I can't control like the colors they look kinda faded ! btw I used the 50mm for the same object at the same time and it looked more colorful than the 28-135mm but, as you said sometimes the 28-135 works fine .. not always.

  • wat's the cheapest canon lens you recomend?

  • @chingvang559 50mm f1.8

  • Canon 50mm f/1.8

    its only $100

its made of plastic so the build quality isnt very good but the image quality is amazing.

But I would only get it if you like to do portraits or need a lens that you can use indoors.

  • thank you, but I'm looking for an all in one lens with wide angle, zoom, low light. because i plan to take it camping which uses it all.

But i know the 18-200mm doesn't have as good of a bokeh and the f/1.8

  • @chingvang559 Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 Mk II for $100.

Best lens for beginning photographers. In fact, I have that lens and the one in this video, and I highly recommend them both (but please handle your lenses gentler than this video!)

  • how many times did you put your finger on the back lens??? thanks for the review..

  • you are very rough with it....but to all those people saying things like "omg ur so spoilt ur dad buys u all this shit get over urself"

dont be so stuck up... leave the guy alone

  • If you really work for your gear, then why is it that it is handled so rough? I work hard and save my money, and when I purchase anything, I baby it. Lenses are finely tuned machines, not paperweights, please respect the tools of the trade and treat them with respect, otherwise, keep up the photography, its good to get into it young.

  • Don't worry Daddy will buy him a new lens.

  • "Daddy" doen't buy any of my equipment.

I do. I do because I actually work.

  • I'm sure you bought all of your equipment. You've been working hard since you were 9 years old. How long have you been working part time?

  • your pretty rough with your equipment

  • I feel SO bad for your equipment! You touched the rear element like 4 times,... and you are worried about dust?! I hope you take better care of your new lenses. Ok review though... And canon only supplies the hood with L-series lenses, don't like it, switch to nikon LOL.

  • No offense, but I think they're fine. I don't exactly live my life caring about my finger touching the rear element or me leaving a lens cap off...

  • omfg, kids!!!!!! UR SCRATCHING THE SHIZZNIT OUTTA THAT LENS!

  • dude be careful with ur equipment treat it with repsect, u sound kinda spoilt as well dude, just a teen with 'daddy's' money thinking he's a pro photographer.

  • Take care man! It's CANON:D

  • Not a bad review, you throw around this equipment like a mechanic does a wrench...not the same thing, bud

  • your a careless jerk be careful with that we have the same lens tsk

  • are you using a filter there?

  • Yes, a Canon 72mm UV HAZE sharp cut.

  • man take care of your gear

  • be more carefull witch your equipament

  • @guisantosrs agreed, glad im not alone on this thought haha.

  • The body is actually made of plastic. The mount is the only part made of metal. I also have this lens. I couldn't live without it.

  • me too!

  • dude learn how to take care of your equipment by not throwing things around before you start making reviews. it hurts to see stuff like that get thrown around :(

  • You bought it for 100?! I'm jealous.

  • just got it for my birthday, it is heavy.

    i love it thoe

  • Great lens !!

  • how is this compared to the 24-105L lens ?

i know i'm comparing it to L lens, but what i'm interested in is price and value for what i pay for

  • It is, somewhat, comparable to the Canon 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM. However, Canon's best lens, FOR THE MONEY...is probably the Canon 28-135mm IS USM or the Canon 17-85mm IS USM.

  • KOKOKOKOK is its just me or did he touch the glass part where where the cam mount is. dude u have to be more careful with this stuff if your gonna sell it off and if u dont have the 50D yet i recomment it, its fast and has alot of good functions and everything.

  • I have exactly the very same impression, he is touching the back glass, just insane!

I can´t believe such a degree of negligent handling of slr equipment in general!

  • im a nikon user but i still watched this

  • I feel the zoom ring to be a tad loose... Lens creep is evident.

  • dude hold on on the tammy 70 - 200. get your self a canon L man.. you wont be sorry believe me... even if you gotta get the f4. the tammy's soft the canon 70 - 200 f4 is the sharpest thing known to man in that focal range. if its a budget constraint then i understand but hey.. there's always ebay.

  • Yea, now my update is just going full blown canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM new.

  • im savin for that too, im buying it from B&H photo. it's like 1,488 with tax but they have free shipping. I cant wait to get it.

  • Ultrasonic zoom lens?!?!?!?!

C'mon dude, you have got 30D, battery grip and even original Canon protector, the thing you need to work on really is how to take care of your photographic equipments.

  • I am absolutly depressed, after having to see you throwing your filters on your bed like a phisbe and scratching the lens cap onto your Canon filter, I am depressed. I just fell sorry for the lens.

  • Well, let me just tell ya, lens cruelty is not in my vocabulary. Lens caps and filters don't matters long as you have a blower and can still take good pictures. Also, I'm sorry that you're depressed, maybe you should go to the Psychologist? No, I'm just kidding. But, seriously dude, calm down. Just lens caps and filters. It's not like I threw my lenses across the room :)

  • Remember, they are photographic equipment and can cause serious problem with just a tiny crack or a tiny scratch. Yours is Canon filter and it cost about 7 times as much as Hoya's, and I don't even want to think about throwing my filters on my bed..... Think about it dude.

  • throwing it on a bed isnt gonna scratch anything, unless you've got something else on your bed besides blankets. Idk bout you but my bed is soft. if he threw it on the floor or something then I'd worry. At least he's not like some people who do reviews who leave their sensors wide open to dust while they worry about protecting the lcd screen on the back.

  • OK, I know your bed is soft.

But you know what's on your bed? Bed sheet? Blanket? They are full of dust, and coated glass are DUST-STICKING. And truely I'm not working with my camera on a bed.

  • if it's dust you're worried about then there's dust everywhere!! you could set it on a table and get dust on it. doesnt matter where you place it there's gonna be dust.

  • Well, I do take care of it all, I just don't worry too much about filters, and lens caps. Those cheep filters are made to be scratched.

  • Also Lenses are not as damageable as everybody thinks, you spend that much money for a reason

  • how much is that lens now

  • Used - $300

New - $400-450 depending upon merchant

  • im considering this lens... its looks really nice and has a good versatile range.. how ever is there any lens creep?

  • Some do complain of lens creep.

However, I have NEVER had a problem with it. I also highly recomend this lens. P.S. - I don't remember if I said anything about the creep in the video, but ignore it :)

  • of course the front element isnt metal there supposed to be glass.....

and cry me a river about the lens hood if you shoot canon you should know only L's come with hoods

  • Well, I bought the hood, and I must apologize for the element mishap.

    I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

  • woo

  • I use this lens on my full frame ElanII. Has great range. IS comes in handy sometimes. haven't had too many problems with the zoom creep though.

  • I have this lens, the zoom creep is so damn annoying.

  • OMG do NOT touch the inner elements and be sure to put the caps back on

    idiot

  • I`m glad you made this review of this lens becouse is same lens it came with my canon 50d

    thank you phototeen.

  • 25 percent less quality? Many of Tamron's pro series lens are very VERY nice (although I agree the Canon L series are also very nice, but the materials of the L lenses and Tamron's pro grade are made from different materials) And yes, most of the tamoron lenses are cheaper because they spend less money advertising and because Canon actually makes their lenses expensive because of the Canon name.

  • Hi I saw your video of the 28-135mm I.S. lens.

I have this lens and bought it second hand but paid a little bit more than you did but it was in very good condition. I did have the EOS 20D have use it in a wedding. The camera and lens were good to use at that event. I now have the EOS 1D mark III with the 24-105mm f4 I.S.. I love the 28-135mm I.S. lens and it is in good condition. I wish you the best. miike111 from Australia

  • One hundred dollars seems like a real steal compared to the Nikon AF-S DX 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6, which goes for at least $200 used on eBay, and is just a few milimeters wider than the Canon you reviewed. Maybe that's a testament to the quality of Nikon glass. (Disclosure: I shoot with a Nikon D40, and I actually end up using the side pinch more, although the 52mm cap for my kit 18-55mm lens has both options).

Also, the Nikon has a smaller filter thread, which means slightly cheaper filters.

  • Well, that would be a testament, however, please note that the canon version does have built in lens stabilization and is 5mm's larger in the front. The canon also has a focussing window :)

  • of course, im watchin ;)
