This is what Vonage sounds like when you have problems(on the phone with them). Switch to vonage and you will get this help for real 90% of the time. Just keep calling back till you can understand 80% of what this companies phone help is saying. And call back another 50 times to get someone that speaks english well enough and can actually help solve the problem.
I am an Indian Engineer.... Let me iterate to you guys that these call center people are not technically 'Engineers'. They are just trained to do what they do. If you do a lil googling on Indian languages, you wud c that there are at least 30 major different languages in which most people know at least two( regional and National - Hindi). I was lucky enuf to get a good education and I write software for one of the companies based in US.
Maybe its because I interview people day in and day out but for the most part I can understand this gentleman...It is funny, and he should have no business doing the job he is doing...But you can make out what he says.

Don't lecture me on offshoring and the quality of Indian help desks. I'm at IT manager and have seen the degredation in service when support is off shored, I also know what it feels like to lose your job in that scenario. The indians might have a good knowledge of the theory but that are rubbish at providing support and don't stay in one job long enough to learn the infrastructure. They job hop getting better offers each time which is why is not even that much cheeper anymore.
Just before I left my job one of my Team Leaders got a call from the Indians at 3am saying there was a banking alert they didn't know what to do with. He couldn't get a VPN connection so had to cycle 6 miles into work to see what the problem was only to find is was a known event and was totally ignorable..... Don't even get me started on the language barrier. Ask yourself, who would you want providing your support?
last time i called tech support to get road runner back online......i ended up fixing it w/ msn messenger's built in tool that scans for & fixes connection probs while i was on hold w/ tech support lol

Don't lecture me on offshoring and the quality of Indian help desks. I'm at IT manager and have seen the degredation in service when support is off shored, I also know what it feels like to lose your job in that scenario. The indians might have a good knowledge of the theory but that are rubbish at providing support and don't stay in one job long enough to learn the infrastructure. They job hop getting better offers each time which is why is not even that much cheeper anymore.

Just before I left my job one of my Team Leaders got a call from the Indians at 3am saying there was a banking alert they didn't know what to do with. He couldn't get a VPN connection so had to cycle 6 miles into work to see what the problem was only to find is was a known event and was totally ignorable..... Don't even get me started on the language barrier. Ask yourself, who would you want providing your support?
