Saw them in the mid eighties at Elmendorf Airforce base NCO Club. There were about twenty people in the audience. It was awesome. They did all their hits, took a break and came back and sang them all again.
Apparently he's had four hip-replacement surgeries and he had to sit out some dates either last summer or the summer before. And he had to sit on the drum riser when he did make it. He still looks cool. He looks like he's doing better than he was when I saw him.
@taximan55 Incorrect. I was in the sound booth at a Roots show in Columbus Ga. about 10 years ago. The entire performance minus lead vocals was pre-recorded. I have a copy of the DAT that we burned before the show. Only the lead vocals were live. The keyboards weren't even turned on. As soon as the show was over, their "handler" was at the booth to collect the DAT.
Fake band, fake show. Makes you wonder how long they've been pulling this scam.
the drummer needs to get smaller cymbals or stop bashing the crap out of the ones he has, it'c called dynamics

I saw Rob many years ago at a small concert in an old converted school auditorium. Man, it was great. He will be sorely missed by so many.

He looked so good for his age and all he had been through. He was so special to me. Its making me very sad that Rob is no longer with us.

R.I.P. Rob Grill. Your music and spirit lives on.
It's a sad time for rock and roll, as we lost a legend yesterday, Rob Grill, bassist for The Grass Roots. He was a great performer.
