  • Nice vid but nylon is a plastic. Nuts and bolts will rust and rust will harm your tank

  • when the power goes off will ur overflow box restart when it comes back on

  • @thedylanwoody Yes.

  • I love your videos and they have inspired me to make huge improvements to my 75 gallon fowlr. I already moved my GSP and am now interested in making a 'sump', i guess you could call it, out of my 30 gallon when I upgrade my freshwater to 55 gallons when I move to California. My idea was to attach the 30 to the 75 and putting smaller fish that I would not be able to keep with my lionfish and snowflake and trigger. I may keep some corals and was planing on an anemone or two. Yes, no, any ideas? ty

  • headache,,

  • how would u do this if u had a hood on the tank, because i want an eel and they are notorious escape artists.

  • where did you get the plans? thx

  • is there really a return pump..or is it just a powerhead?

  • @hawaiinino

No, its a powerful return pump. A ph wouldn't be able to send the water up fast enough.

  • your the shit man the only video of what I was looking for

  • yo i had this exact idea with using the specimen boxes man, im a bit hesitant but i think that im gonna go for it

  • dumb azz mf he didn't get nylon bolt and screw set they told him to get nylon for a reason ha ha ha. the reason is its none toxic. metal is toxic and rusts releasing toxins into the tank. dumb a holes like him will set that shit up and wonder why his fish and corals are dieing off in six months thinking it could never be the sump cos its been there ages. lol

  • @mastainventa Completely uncalled for. No one asked you. What you are saying may be right but you could say it in a civilized way.

  • dude your crackin me up in your vid...

yea i got this but it didn't fit so whatever...

    lol

  • Hi I just watched your series and you have inspired me to go down the same path. One question though, where did you buy the DIY overflow kit from. Great job and wish you and your family a happy new year.

  • I actually brought all the separate parts and put it together myself. Used an acrylic specimen box for the main overflow.

  • if you already have a 10 gallon laying around its cheaper jst to buy an overflow

  • A lot more fun building it myself.

  • True that.

wheres the sense of accomplishment in buying one?

  • damn!

    this is hella nice!

im actually trying to make one and ive been looking for vids on how to do it, and this vid helped me out a lot =D

where did you get the aquarium safe silicon? did u say home depot?

  • Yes, Home Depot. I think it was either in the glue or caulk section. I had to make a few adjustments on the design since I first built it but its going pretty good now.

  • Thanks for the suggestions. I have no sound at all coming form the overflow. I followed the directions to a tee.

  • Lol i work at the Depot!! But just an FYI i built that exact same overflow and it works great! But you should of used a bulkhead fitting for that and atleast 1'', it would;ve been more durable than the silicone, also if you incorporate a Durso Pipe into your Large box it will be 10x quieter than your current setup(trust me i know from experience)you will get some gurgling thats pretty annoying, but all in all good vid, Oh yeah dont forget the u-tube and the aqualifter!
