  • Seguin who?

  • dude had ball cancer give him credit

  • Great goal but Toronto SUCKS!!!!

  • i started watching this and saw saying out loud "He's gone..He's gone...he aint there not more..him too he went to Calgary...him too!"

    HAHAHAHA LOL

    Go leafs go!

  • @MaffyMoose worst sentences ever! i really hope english is your third language

  • how the hell did that go in ?????

  • Correct me if i'm wrong but if Kessel was here the whole season wouldn't he be on pace for more? Even if not, his points are HARDLY different from last year.

Theres no way you can say that Kessel needs a playmaking centre either. If you see most of his goals its just skate over the line and get the snipeshow started. Don't get me wrong, a playmaking centre would be a benefit but he is fine without one

  • hope Nazem Kadri is the centre that can set up Kessel next seson

  • @disturbed1078 Bozak over Kadri for now atleast. Bozak is the better playmaker and is more ready for the job and Kadri still has stuff to work on.

  • just imagine how good he'll be once the leafs get a passing center guy got 40+ with marc savard in boston burke needs to get him a center

  • Another thing....We (I included) keep saying that Kessel needs a good centre to feed him the puck.

Well....correct me if I'm wrong....but wasn't Kessel on Team USA?

Can't get much better than that.

Yet he was still only able to get 2 points.

  • So you're implying that if Kessel gets a playmaking centre then he'll get less points than he is now? makes sense.

  • @evh5150316 Except the opposing teams in the Olympics are a lot better than those he faces in the NHL, plus he gets less ice-time. I think most players score less in the Olympics than in the NHL.

  • @evh5150316 ...yes u can...its called canada

  • I like how this all started when I and other stated a FACT.

Kessel has no dangling abilities. All he has is a quick shot because of the flex of his stick. But a GOOD shot nonetheless.

    You Leaf fans are unbelievable.

  • @evh5150316 He has a ton of skill... its just hard to show that skill when he's triple teamed every time he touches the puck.

  • This ANOTHER thing I don't understand when I hear announcers say it.

I've heard that he's DOUBLE TEAMED and TRIPLE TEAMED (sometimes).

Well...that means...if he's triple teamed....there are 4 OPEN Toronto players only being defended by 2 opposing players.

This isn't that hard to figure out. And I have yet to see Kessel be triple teamed...EVER. Never happens. In fact I've never seen ANY player get triple teamed.

Kessel isn't the second coming of Bobby Orr or Mario Lemiuex.

  • You are a fucking clown. "You Leaf fans". Since you aren't a fucking Leafs fan you don't watch him at all, or either you're a butt sore Boston fan.

Shut the fuck up, you're a clueless moron.

  • I have no choice but to watch him since that's pretty much all they play is Sauga.

    I'm a Habs fan dude.

I think you're missing the part when I said: Kessel is going to be GREAT for the Leafs. He is a talented player.

Unfortunately, he has NOBODY feeding him the puck like a Savard, that's all.

But "You Leaf Fans" hear what you want to hear. I listent to the FAN and AM640, I hear you guys call in. You're passionate, I respect that. But when passion borders on stupidity...thats bad..

  • Unforunatley, I have to agree with the habs fan. Kessel is awesome with the leafs but he needs a good center if you want him to put up his Boston numbers +

  • He put up 36 in Boston.. right now he has 29 after missing over 10 games in the beginning of the season + training camp. I'm pretty sure he'll have no problem putting up his Boston numbers, although he does need a #1 centre if he wants a chance at 45-50 (which he is capable of).. Hopefully the guy is Bozak, it sure looks like it atm.

  • toronto sucks!

  • True, but players who can fly and shoot like him usually don't need to dangle.

  • agreed. his strength is his positional sense in the offensive zone-he can take the puck and find space... unfortunately lately hes getting double-coverage with no1 else in the blue and white to take advantage of the mismatch... ne hate directed at him should be placed on burkie... too much hype when weakness around him makes him too easy to smother. he needs some1 to play with

  • fyi.. 'agreed' is @ Noofy...

  • @evh5150316

i agree he can't dangle for shit he always tries to curve it to the inside like he does

succesfully on this goal but he fails constantly.

regardless the boy knows how to shoot.

and now with big PHANEUF lurking around kessel will have a lil more room to work and hopefully there'll be more moves to find someone to play with kess.

  • exactly and you dont need to dangle if u can shoot...

  • @95TMLFAN True but if you're not going to dangle than you need somebody feeding you the puck.

And Toronto doesn't have that guy yet.

Kessel had Savard in Boston. Nobody is even CLOSE to Savard on Toronto.

  • If he played the whole year then he'd be on pace to score 36 goals. Pretty sure he doesn't need Savard.

  • LOL. On Pace? Yeah just like when Jiri Tlusty was on pace to score 160 goals after scoring 2 in his first game.

Or Fabian Brunnstrom was on pace to score 240 goals after getting a hat trick in his first game.

No doubt Kessel is a natural scorer and he will help the Leafs.

I never said he SUCKED ONCE. I just said he doesn't dangle or have superior stick handling skills.

Neither does Cammalleri on the Habs. He is a SHOOTER. But I'd put Cammer over Kess anyday of the week. :D

  • ...Except Kessel has played 48 games this season and the players your comparing him to were just after playing there first NHL games.

    fail

  • The fact you used the word FAIL.

    Makes you a fag.

  • The fact that you just said the exact same thing makes you a fag as well.

    a/s/l ?

  • Ya, because Kessel has only played 1 game this year.

    sickest faggot

  • Take it easy. Phil will be carrying the Cup next season.

What Cup still needs to be determined.

  • wow that was so fuckin witty and funny

  • @evh5150316 would you still put cammer over Kessel? lolll

  • @evh5150316 i remember my first beer,

  • Lol? Kessel has sick hands, anyone who doesn't realize this is a moron.

  • He doesn't have sick hands.

You know who has sick hands? Datsyuk. Y'know who has sick hands? Alex Kovalev. You know who has sick hands? Rick Nash.

Kessel uses a 70 flex stick which gives him a super quick release plus he is a GREAT shooter. BUT....

He can't deke anybody out. His move is trying to circle into the slot to snap off a shot.

You don't need amazing hands to do that.

I don't know why people don't like hearing the truth. Watch the games. He doesn't dangle.

  • I watch Phil Kessel play all the time. He has excellent hands and if you can't realize this your hopeless.

  • @MichaelN97

its true but it always works lol, plus he has a great shot. what else do you want.

  • @komot, more moves :P

  • WOOOOOOOO PHIL THE THRILLLLL !

  • Finally Toronto has a young skilled sniper!

  • 40:00

  • The reason Lucic is a more valuable player than Kessel is because there is NO ONE LIKE LUCIC. Nowhere in the league will you find a player who is as young as 21 years old, who is such a hard hitter, so tough, and strikes fear into the enemy like Lucic. He is one of if no the hardest hitters in the league along the boards and will fight anyone. There are plenty of young 30 goal scorers around the league like Kessel... Loui Eriksson, Pat Kane, Zach Parise, Jeff Carter. There is no one like Lucic

  • LOL LAUGHABLE LAUGHABLE. There is no one who can hit hard? Are you fucking kidding me? Show me Looch vs Belak, Looch vs laraque, looch vs brashear or lucic vs boogaard or even lucic vs orr? Exactly he isn't even a fucking top heavyweight. There are TONS of people who can check, are you kidding me? Check the AHL.

    Lucic = 5 points 2 goals 3 assists.

Kessel = 10 goals, 5 assists after starting his season late with injury.

Kessel can WIN games BY HIMSELF, lucic can check, ig fucking deal.

  • @sh1yne- EXACTLY!

  • Everyone of those guys you named are in there 30s. lucic is 21. Its scary to think of what he'll be able to do when hes in his prime

  • Yeah Lucic isn't that impressive I don't get it.

  • try watching him play

  • a physical threat is important, sure. when a guy like Lucic is on the ice, members of the opposing team are going to be a little more tentative out of fear of getting run over. similarly, when a guy like Phil Kessel is on the ice, members of the opposing team are going to feel pretty uneasy about making even the slightest mistake because they know there's a guy out there who will almost doubtlessly capitalize. neither is "more valuable" than the other - any winning team is going to need both.

  • phil kessel is so fast and good with the puck and the way he tapes is stick is beast i do it like that all the time like that now makes it feel so much better with the grip of the tape =]

  • crosby who?

  • HOLY MACKINAW!

  • More of this and less of fights and chicken shit checks from behind and in the boards, plz.

  • Kessel>Lucic If anyone disagrees they're clearly retarded.

  • How's Lucic working out for you, Boston? That was the dumbest trade ever to receive positive reviews from most clueless pundits.

  • @ranndino hows sitting in the bottom of the conference working out for you? it must be nice for kessel to watch his former team rest in 3rd in the conference and 1st in their division

  • Relax. You had your chance at a cup and now it's gone.

    I'd be pretty upset too.

  • You're right we had a chance. We came up short, but at least we had a chance.

  • ................And you lost in the second round

  • at least we made it...unlike the leafs

  • Since when was the goal making it to the second round? pretty sad goal.

  • You made it just as far as the Leafs congratulations. You didn't win a cup.

  • do you know what the bruins and leafs have in common? they havent won a cup in over 35 years. way to go

  • Actually sitting at the top of the Conference is working out for me just fine (I'm a Caps fan). Your "Jump to Conclusions" mat is in the mail.

  • Lucic is great, everyone here in Boston loves him. Anyways, how can you talk shit about a player who has been injured for damn near the whole season?

  • I wasn't talking shit. I was just stating objective truth. Kessel is a far better player than Lucic. And I know that everyone in Boston sucks Lucic's cock. That was part of my point, which you obviously missed.

  • I didn't miss anything. I chose not to continue reading after your first stupid sentence.

  • It wasn't a stupid sentence at all. You just like to think that because you don't wanna face reality. Bruins scoring troubles can be directly traced to trading their best goal scorer. I predicted that this will happen at the time of the trade while most pundits thought that Marco Sturm was somehow gonna fill Phil's skates.

  • Comment removed

  • You can't compare the two. They have 2 completely different playing styles. I am by no means saying that Kessel isn't a talented player, but you can't say he is better than Lucic. Yes Kessel is a better goal scorer, but in physical strength he can't compare. Kessel is a 1 zone player, at least he was when he played for Boston. Might be different in Toronto but as a Bruin he did not play defense. You never saw him on the PK. Kessel's focus was only on goal scoring.

  • I totally agree with you that they're totally different kinds of players. My point was that in terms of salary and whom to keep you can indeed compare them. The point was that as good as Lucic is at what he does overall he's a much less valuable player than Kessel simply because it is extremely difficult to find good, consistent goal scorers and the last time I checked the team that scores more goals wins the game.

  • What in the fuck? Are you mentally fucking retarded? "but you can't say he is better than Lucic"

You weren't talking about Kessel right?

  • Kessel is better than Lucic.

Adding Kessel to a team immediately makes them dangerous whenever he is on the ice.

Kessel is a game changer, Lucic is not. Although he can throw some good hits and score Kessel is a "wow" player Lucic isn't.

  • Kessel is not a game changer. He is not dominant. He is a good, not great player. Lucic IS a game changer. When he is on the ice, every is automatically more intimidated always has him on their mind. Lucic is more valuable than Kessel.

  • You could say the same about how many defenseman in the league, just on the Leafs alone, Komisarek, Finger and Exelby are all big hitters, woop big deal. Checking doesn't make a big difference when it comes to putting up goals, which is what a winger is supposed to do, sure he's scrappy and makes you keep your head up, but he's NOT a top flight enforcer, so that diminishes his value IMMENSELY.

Watching him cower from Laraque is classic.

  • and my comment about the standings wasn't directed towards you it was directed towards vaneKfan2k. The Caps are no doubt insane this year and will make the playoffs.

  • @ tinytownfilms C'mon man. Your comment was clearly directed at me. I know that the way Youtube does comments it's sometimes difficult to tell who's replying to what, but they've recently added something that is similar to twitter to help with that and your comment clearly starts with @ranndino.

  • what a kessel run

  • he did it in less than 12 par secs i do beleive

  • Awesome! kessel rock!

  • franchise

  • Great goal! Kessel is awesome - go leafs!
