I think the critics had a lot to do with him no longer liking it. When it first came out he loved it just as much as the critics, who hailed it as the new Sgt. Pepper's. It was only after a few months that it started to get beat down, and I think Noel believed the critics to an extent, and dismissed the album as a heap of cocaine-addled madness. Drug use made him very unsure about this period later on, and for that this will probably never be performed before a live audience again. Sad.

yeah I totally know what you mean but they(noel:D) put lyla on stop the clocks which is an average oasis song.. Just because it was the lead single on the previous record. Im glad at least Liam likes Be Here Now. Noel must recall his terrible cocaine hangovers when he hears BHN. I personally love the album and think it's their 2nd best. And this song gives me so much hope and puts a smile to my face :)

Agreed. You can hear it in these performances - they fucking believed in these songs when they were playing them at these gigs. They (Noel especially) bought into what all the critics said about Be Here Now instead of realizing that despite what critics have said about this album, it's very good. It's embellished to a degree, but it's carefree and I really think it might be the most honest record they've made to date - even if it's not their best.

At first it received generally glowing reviews. It wasn't until a bit later people started to look down on it. Personally, it's my favorite Oasis album, coming in just slightly above Definitely Maybe and (WtS)MG? I'd go so far as to say it's one of the most brilliant albums since Sgt. Pepper's.
