  • Oh Gosh, pretty bad.

  • Bowie's is and always will be the best, no cover can top that...

But this cover seems pretty good

  • WTF

  • Not bad. Barb's version is very elegant. It seems effortless. David's has more soul and "oomph" and the string arrangement is better.

  • hideous!

  • sounds like a Celine Dion tune. Not a fan

  • Considering Streisand is a different kind of performer this is actually pretty good.

  • Bad bad cover !!!

  • Musically it's not bad at all

  • Very interesting. Very definately a 'shadow' of Bowie's interpertation. Doesn't make it bad, just sets a greater contrast to Bowie's performance.

  • She sings it well enough but the musical arrangement is terrible, no where near as good as the one written by Bowie guitarist Mick Ronson.

  • meravigliosa fuoriclasse, splendida versione.

  • Simplemente, maravilloso video!!!! Por dios!! Adoro a esta mujer!!! Me llega hasta el alma aun sin entender las letras de sus canciones.( Mi ingles es algo básico...) Solo con su vos y su expresividad al cantar!!!

  • I like both versions. I would venture that Mr. Bowie's view of Ms. Streisand's version of his song has become more favorable over the years.

  • @romanticandperky Perhaps. No-one knows. Streisand is pretty much the anathema of Bowie, musically speaking however.

  • @romanticandperky In a 1999 show, VH1 Storytellers, he implies not.

  • STREISAND ven a México, muero por verte y escucharte, !!!!! Me encantas!

  • Barbra's version is not only more powerfully emotionally, but the arrangement and orchestration are FAR superior.

  • @edwardjames50 ahhh...it was produced by her hairstylist/boyfriend at the time Jon Peters, come on. He probably blow dried it too.

  • That poor and uneducated comment from David Bowie didn't justify anything relevant. Barbra Streisand don't have to step down to the muddy level of David Bowie. Streisand has a wide range of ethereal vocals. Streisand is classy. Bowie is nothing but trashy.

  • to quote Bowie from his 1976 Playboy interview "Bloody awful. Sorry, Barb, but it was atrocious."

  • @RX7Qball I prefer Streisand's version because when I heard Bowie's, it seemed boring! He wasn't singing, he was talking, no rhythm at all...

  • @LeandroChengoLopez

I disagree. No doubt, Barbra is a great singer, but this song doesn't work. Way more emotion when Bowie performs it.

  • Streisand used her "Martian" vocal range and emotion that gave justice to this song.

In the contrary, Bowie sounded monotone and flat.

A great song requires both vocal range and emotion!

  • @LeandroChengoLopez

She sounds like she is reading the lyrics and just learned them phonetically

  • @LeandroChengoLopez I don't think this version is as bad as some make out but your comment betrays a total lack of musical awareness. Bowie 'talked' the lyrics? You're so wrong. Sorry.

  • @RX7Qball Bowie did it better.

  • @TheAranethon agreed

  • "Bloody awful."

    -As Bowie himself put it.

  • Awful!

  • no barbra no...

  • Asked at the time what he thought of this version of his song, David Bowie replied, "Sorry Barb, it was bloody atrocious."

  • @rm009z0858 he just wasn't gay enough lol

  • OMG THIS IS AMAZING

  • I'm impressed. What a nice video, and

    original seldom seen photos/

    My Congratulations.
