  • Did anyone notice that he had a little sister. Kids play through watching their parents.... He watched her take care of that baby and I am sure helped her with things when it came to the baby. And kids realize that parents pay more attention to baby because they through fits... hence him throwing fits for his mothers attention. I HATE IGNORANT IGNORANT IGNORANT people. I am sick over this. whats worse it he isnt the only baby who went throw or is going through this. My heart to you baby boy!

  • nobody cares tho if girls play with toy soldiers and legos....

  • LOL, just saw George Rekers. *shakes head. Busted.

  • Yay. Anderson Cooper.

  • Well now look what you did ?... you crazy dum nut mom..you dont have a son nomore bitch...what the hell you think you were doin.

  • fuck the mom. bitch you're supposed to love your kids no matter what.

  • Why are people surprised? THAT fact scares me more that most of us don't believe things like this go on...

  • this kind of stuff sickens me

  • And now Mr George Rekers has been exposed as a cocksucker who likes, as the phrase goes, getting his luggage lifted.

  • now take that wxperiement and diffuse it throughout society = america

  • @blackeyedpeas273 they put him in a sick environment that basically says he can't do anything he likes, if he does, they ignored him! I don't blame him for turning suicidal. RIP

  • This is so sick!!! I can't believe they hurt that boy mentally ilke that!!

  • Some people are gay some are straight some are bi get the !?@^ over it!!!

  • My cousin is gay and now I understand how awful it must be to not act the way you want to...Isn't that a bit what we all do? Act as if we're something we know we're not?

  • o look another gay person took their life and not because someone bullied them because they couldnt stand keeping it a secret from the world

  • Absolutely sickening

  • Someone should stab that asshole doctor in both his eyes with and ice pick, dowse him in gasoline and set that sadistic son of a bitch on fire!

  • Jackstone56 just said he wasn't implying it could be cured. -_____- Obviously that means he doesn't believe it can be cured. Quit coming at his head.

  • This is appalling.

And of course George Rekers, the evil mastermind behind this brainwashing, is gay himself, having been caught with a male escort in 2010.

Talk about projecting one's self-hatred onto others...

  • This is just wrong!!!! RIP K....

  • Ok, I am a right wing conservative Christain, and even I find this sickening. I mean, seriously? *If* you were to "cure" homosexuality, this is the WORST way to do it, and I say that not trying to imply that homosexuality is something to be cured.

This.... this is just wrong. Amazingly wrong. Just.... fucking sick.

  • @Jackstone56

you can't "cure" homosexuality any more than you can "cure" heterosexuality. people need to stop imposing their views on others. if someone isn't hurting anyone, for God's sake let them live their life.

  • @Jackstone56 This is sick and you can not cure a gay person. Ask any gay man when he first knew in his heart he was different and he will say almost from the time his friends looked at girls and talked about which was beautiful. It was not something he decided. No boy at that age wants to be different. They always worry if they are ok because they are smaller than friends or not as mature. You can not make another boy gay as some fear.

  • @Jackstone56 Our sexuality is determined as much by our brain as anything. All our brains begin as female until male hormones surge and change the brain. More research must be done into this area but its has already been shown in the data. It can not be nurture because boys in same family are not also gay. The only rational answer is that it begins in the womb. I believe the only choice is to accept it and live happy or live a lie and hurt yourself and others. Or suicide maybe.

  • that so called Dr. is as full of shit about his work as Al Gore is about Global Warming. Scientific Dictstorship.

  • manly tears were shed

  • George "Lift My Luggage" Rekers, eh? Doesn't he need some rent-boy to carry that biiiig cup of coffee for him?

  • I know that the parents probably realize what they did was fucked up and in retrospect feel bad, but I don't really care. In my eyes, the blame is ALL theirs. They put their son in danger when they let him get experimented on and abused him. I hope they realize the pain their sone must have went through.

  • That man shoud have any titels he have stripped from him and banned for life for practicng any type of medicn, and I realy hope that the Mom and Dad feal REALY shitty about them self.

Thise vidio clip realy pisses me off. and I am boling right now.

  • This makes me so angry.

  • That is so sad

  • Good job heteros, look what you did.

  • @papatoony They don't care you know...

  • Thanks for uploading. Religion is dumb. Who are you to deny someone's happiness? And shape their sexuality. I'm not gay but i stand up for them. Its only one life, live it how you want to. Fuck all the anti-gay asses. Just let them live their life

  • I'm straight and watched this, now I feel dead inside. Why are gay people persecuted for something natural that they cannot help, in this day and age?

  • when i was a child i prefered playing with dolls and i loved playing with peoples hair

while it wasnt exactly encouraged thank god my parents didnt put me through this horrible experience

  • What were the parents thinking? Let people be different. Let people be themselves and express who they are. There's no reason to punish anyone for being themselves.

  • This is horrible, both for the little boy as for the family now grieving. The family doesn't even sound like they really wanted it. They were worried about their son, sought professional help - and instead of actually reassuring the family their used their kid as a lab rat! It's sickening!

  • Comment removed

  • i feel.. empty.

  • this is horrible

  • Where does the mother get off blaming other people for her son's suicide?

She's the one that signed him up for the study, and actively participated in it. She even brought the "experiment" home by using the chips and beatings. She needs to accept responsibilty for her part.

  • @CynthiaSwallows While I agree with you, partially, I think a lot of parents are really pressured into this. The sister of someone I know gave birth to an intersex child and while SHE was actually really cool about it, she was pretty much bullied by doctors to have surgery done on the child. Parents often put faith in doctors - because they believe that the doctor is an expert and know what is best. Yes, she is responsible for participating, but the real horror is that this program even existed.

  • This is some really sad stuff, I see in his (Kirk's) eyes that he is seemingly very saddened and hurt, I myself can relate to sadness and depression and I feel for this dude! He probably also felt incredibly alone while living off in New Dheli alone and that probably amplified his already extremely hurt feelings. This sucks so bad, it's really not fair for him to have had to be subjected to that bulls@@@ by those quack therapists.

  • I feel ashamed as a UCLA alumni!

  • He's different, so they decide to experiment on him and beat him? These "experts" are just bigots.

  • The good doctor should be beaten every time he does something straight and after a year or two maybe he would realize that being gay is not something we can be cured of just like beating him to be gay could never make him gay.... oops he is a self hating closet case! never mind he is gay, the minute you look at him you can tell he doesnt seem so straight guess my gaydar went off!

  • This is so sad, hugs and kisses to all gay people and all who fight for equal rights for LGBT.

  • Thank you for this informative and intelligent series. I am a 30-something gay man who fights for LGBT civil rights in Chicago with a group called Gay Liberation Network. "Repartive therapy" is the darker side of living in a society that continues to socially push being straight as the most natural, normal, religious, etc.. Being straight is just one more sexuality on a much larger spectrum of healthy human sexuality that includes LGBT people.

  • This is so scary. Why the hell would you ever do something like that? I can't believe someone would do something this horrible.

  • I feel nothing but depressed after watching this...I'm a girl.

  • Who the hell cares if a person is gay or not as long as you are comfortable with your own sexual preference. You can choose to be happy till a ripe old age of 70 being gay or die at an age of 38 being tormented by others expectation.

  • Thumbs up if you think these 'scientists' should be shot.

  • He joined an institution where being gay wasn't even possible. Sound familiar? I'm looking at you Catholic church.

  • Christian ex-gay therapy: self-hatred, humiliation, shame, lies, guilt, conditional love, suppression, subjugation, and superstition.

A very powerful psychological cocktail. It'll definitely produce results. Completely different results from what they'd expect but really who can tell the difference? Expect suicide in say 30 years time.

  • This is so depressing, especially cause there are still idiotic people a.k.a homophobes who still think they're right even after watching things like this. I'm 19 & i think i might end up like Kirk T_T

  • @Sebizzar I'm the same age as you and I believe the answer to homophobia is in our generation. How many people do you know that are your age that are homophobic? I live in rural Maine and I know none. I'm confident that, by the time all the old fogies complaining about the so-called gay "agenda" have passed on, us gays will already have equal rights.

  • @Lemileant Well there's still tons of homophobic teens in my area, but yeah it's slowly getting better... i hope gay people will finally be treated equally before i die...

  • Comment removed

  • but...barbie dolls are so fun to stick into microwave ovens and perform surgery on. I dont see a problem with liking them.

  • This is so unbelievably horrible, and so so sad. He didn't take his own life they had already taken it from him a long time ago.

  • George Rekers was a founding member of the FRC (Family Research Council), but has not been with the FRC for over a decade.

In 2010 George Rekers was outed as a homosexual after he was caught with a male escort (Rekers denies it). If such is true, then that would mean that it was a homosexual who experimented on Kirk Murphy, not a true born again Christian minister. --And let's not forget Kirk's parents responsibility in it.

    Debra...

    "Informing Christians" Journalist

  • @InformingChristians

I'll go ahead and acknowledge what you say about Rekers, but to say that there aren't members who still support this method of "dealing" with homosexuality, and even perpetuate the same methods today would be a lie. One of the first articles under the issues page "Ten myths about homosexuality" still pushes this brand of therapy as a cure and then they label every story that has emerged from it as not conclusive enough to say that it is harmful. (Cont)

  • @InformingChristians

I have to say, it makes me sad to see how you blame the fact that he is a homosexual, not the fact that he was trying to enforce his version of Christian morals for the experiments. He is a self-hating gay man who feels the only way to receive God's love is by learning how to flip off the gay switch. And it makes me feel even worse that in the same sentence you manage to imply that a gay or a lesbian can't be a Christian. (cont)

  • @InformingChristians

And as for the parents, she was only trying to keep her son's safety in mind. Think about it, to a mother living in a time where having a gay child was a sign of a bad parent, seeing an ad for a new therapy that would save her son from a lifetime of abuse, discrimination, and being condemned by almost anyone at the time who called themselves Christian, would seem like the only option. So do us all a favor and "Inform Christians" that this is a problem and not a solution.

  • I don't understand why the 'masculine' toys are all to do with the army and violence.

  • @aquaticstone Because we live in a world that still believes that war is something trustworthy.

  • Comment removed

  • O what shall we do with the Rekers and his ilk?

    Roast ‘em alive, or stew them in a pot;

Fry them, boil them and make them hot!

Bake and toast ‘em, fry and roast ‘em!

    Till beards blaze, and eyes glaze;

Till hair smells and skins crack,

    Fat melts, and bones black

    In cinders lie

    Beneath the sky!

  • @123MrBee

This plea to end ignorance comes from an unexpected source.

So, let's not ignore the fact that scientific consensus considers homosexuality normal and healthy, but efforts to change sexual orientation ineffective and harmful (Kirk Murphy is a perfect example). Even Robert Spitzer, who is often quoted by the ex-gay movement, admits that "change is extremely rare".

You can't prevent homosexuality. Gays exist. The only choice here is to either make them feel miserable or welcome.

  • @BjoernarEricSven Yes, I am Catholic and all Catholic teaching is based on bringing about the fullness of truth (and getting on that journey) which means destroying ignorance. Apparently you are not well informed of the holistic teachings of the Catholic Church. Acknowledging (not suppressing) the reality of the feelings is healthy indeed! But identifying as homosexual draws a person into fulfilling their personhood by means of that identity, AS OPPOSED TO identifying as a child of God first,

  • @r300zxsupras200

It's not a decision, it's not a choice. People either are gay or they aren't. You can't prevent or encourage people to became gay.

But making them feel miserable or welcome definitely IS a choice.

  • Rekers is in the closet. A closet so deep he probably started this whole sissy boy shit so he could drool over the boys and beat off.

  • @Rockharpered

He and Nicolosi are so deep in the closet they'll probably discover Narnia.

  • You can't blame suicide on other people

  • @paulenttrust Just like you can't blame a boy for being himself.

  • The doctor is real evil. Destroy people's life just for fun. If everyone doesn't do the doctor's way, there is no way and he is a DOCTOR!!!! My goodness...

  • I feel that his mother and father should be convicted of a crime.

  • Never mind everyone definitely dies I hasn't watched part2 yet

  • I'm pretty sure everyone does but remember "I can't lift luggage"?

  • It's this stupid cunt of a mother who did this to him. No one else to blame but that STUPID CUNT of a mother.

  • @MEpianist No... EVERYONE involved in that is to blame. Starting with that con group for feeding off the mother and fathers fears. Then the father and mother for not having greater sense.

  • This really REALLY hurt me. I see a lot of myself in Kirk.

  • Fuck this "doctor." This is disgusting and this "doctor" should be burned alive.

  • I hate humans.

  • We can try our hardest to prevent people from wanting to change gays, but we should worry less about changing others, but instead concentrate on ourselves by taking precautions of this cruel anti-gay society.

But this is just my 2 cents. :(

  • I strongly believe that experiments like this shouldn’t even exist, but at the same time i do not feel that the mother has the right to blame anyone, and especially for even accusing someone of “murdering” her son. The man from UCLA did not come into their home and kidnap her son, he offered “potential” help for those who wanted it.

  • She should have been more careful, taken precaution, taken into consideration that “experiments” are not guaranteed positive, actually, they’re not guaranteed anything. The possibility that the experiment would’ve affected the boy negatively should have been taken into consideration, but hey, maybe she was blinded and desperate to have her son become “less feminine”.

  • This sickens me!

I never played with barbies or girl toys or dressed up in girl's clothing.

I had a normal childhood just like every other boy...

I played with Power Rangers and I loved and collected Hot Wheels.

It wasn't til I hit puberty that I started to like boys.

Being gay isn't a disease if it was I could use it as an excuse to take off from work or school.

    THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE IMPRISONED!

This has to be some kind of child abuse.

  • @IAMASPHYXIA

    these people should be imprisoned?

    these people make the laws.

  • @IAMASPHYXIA These people don't even understand that the two are not related. Behaviour in a 5-year old is not per definition indicative for later life. I was what they call a tomboy but you probably wouldn't say if you look at me now. I know macho boys who turned out gay, and more effeminate guys who turned out straight or bi. But in the end, people will turn out the way they're meant to turn out - you cannot change someone by "beating it out of them". That's just sickening child abuse.

  • @IAMASPHYXIA I agree the parents are nuts and George R. Also the guy who hiding in Thailand. Even straight boys will play with girls stuff. Even pick up the girls mannerisms because there trying to figure out have to relate to girls. His mother was gay and or my be parano schizophrenia. Take a good look at her skin with drawn from smoking and body or face makeup. She has al her teeth ripped out. Her hair is a wig. Sadly people will do anything for money to kids. Let kids be kids.

  • Homosexuality is NOT a disease and it doesn't need to be "cured" or "prevented". The grown-ups in his life when he was growing up are what we in the child-free community call breeders. I absolutely REFUSE to put them in the same category as parents.

  • the doctor should be imprisoned

  • @r300zxsupras200

And you make the common mistake of assuming that propagation of the species is best achieved by everyone having as many babies as possible, and the other mistake of assuming sexuality is all about reproduction, which it isn't.

  • @r300zxsupras200 Feminine behaviour isn't a 'life decision', it's merely the outcome of genetic, hormonal and environmental influence that causes someone to fulfil one side of an almost totally artificial social construct.

Homosexuality isn't a choice either, otherwise reparative therapy to treat self hating gay and bisexual people would work, ever.

  • @Hankthejollyspoon

Let me start, by thanking you for being respectful even if we disagree on this subject.

You make good, points, but I would ask, if it is not a desicion but rather something a person is born with, what about bisexual people. I have seen, people that ("it seem like) they, can choose weater to have a male or female parter. That seem to me to be a clear choice. Also, What about the man that like to dress like women, are they not gay? Again, I am only asking, I dont pretent toknow

  • @r300zxsupras200 I'm bisexual, I don't choose who I am attracted to, I'm just attracted to both, therefore it follows that on different occasions I will have partners of both genders, in theory I could just engage in relationships with one gender, but in theory people could all choose celibacy, and it's pretty widely accepted that celibacy can lead to a severely dysfunctional sexuality.

  • @r300zxsupras200 And many scientists believe that most people are functionally bisexual anyway, which is suggested by several studies and the like, type 'flexuality' into google and take the test, nearly 90% of the users reported exclusive heterosexuality as their orientation, in actuality nearly 90% were bisexual to some degree.

The second point annoys me, does a woman wearing jeans make her a lesbian? No.

  • @r300zxsupras200 Actually, dressing like women doesn't make them gay, just like being feminine doesn't make them gay, being a homosexual makes them gay, that's all.

About 90% of cross dressers are 'straight', in as much that most people are 'straight', solely due to the fact that relatively few people are exclusively homosexual.

A lesbian isn't more or less gay if she likes lip-gloss or not, Though being 'gay' might make someone more comfortable with other preferences that many disapprove of.

  • @r300zxsupras200

Even a bisexual is merely acting on his sexual orientation. He may chose between a man or a woman, but he didn't chose to be bisexual.

And, no, dressing as a woman is not necessarily an indicator that a man is gay. Some heterosexual cross-dressers consider it erotic to wear clothing of the opposite sex. This is called autogynephilia.

  • @BjoernarEricSven Well said! *claps*

  • You get what you pay for. Never let some "doctor" deal with your kids unless it is absolutely obviously needed, like extreme paranoia, suicidal behaviour or clear signs of phycotic behaviour. I guess these parents where to retarded. At least the mother got to experience pain for her actions, I hope the father did as well. As for the "doctor"; its like a parent inviting a known child molester to take care of their kids, sure he is evil, but you get what you pay for.

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT !!??!?! THEY KILLED A BEAUTIFUL SOUL and turned him into a heartless suicidal Moster is that the masculinity we want im literally crying right now and unashamed of that "feminine" emotional quality SOMEONE TELL ME THIS IS NOT REAL SOME ONE TELL ME THAT gay ppl might make them uncomfotable BUT THEY DO NOT DONOT SUPPORT THIS GENDER OPPRESSION PLEASE this is murder

  • The only reason religious people say that being gay is a "choice" is because they can' accept the fact that their "god" would make people gay. And, for the record, I am of the opinion that BOTH the "therapists" interviewed in this series are gay themselves.

  • How is the mother so okay with all this?!

  • Bummer.....

  • Crypto-gays like George Rekers are truly dangerous, and certainly make up a good proportion of the frothing, fundamentalist christian right. The bible's just a made-up book guys, get chomping on a gristle-wand it'll help detoxify your personality!

  • @123MrBee

Whoever says that being gay is the one and only identity of a homosexual? We are male or female, young or old, religious or non-religious etc.

And why should anyone pay attention to a god that condones slavery and the slaughter of dissenters?

By the way, do you eat shrimp? Because your god finds shellfish just as abominable as gays.

  • If you are speaking towards Old Test.Mosaic law, you're absent in your understanding of the transformative nature of the New Testament with regards to the Old. You are picking and choosing, which tells me you're not ready to dialogue at this time. If you want to know more, you will search. If you are content in not knowing and not understanding the Catholic faith, then there you shall rest. But in your ignorance, you have zero authority in your declaritive statements about Catholic teaching.

  • @123MrBee

True, many Christians consider the Old Testament obsolete (yet very often quote Leviticus in their condemnation of gays), but that doesn't change the fact that the god of the Old and the New Testament is still supposed to be the same entitiy. Another fact that can't be hidden is that Christianity has always either destroyed or assimilated dissenters. Just think about all the pagan customs and traditions associated with Christmas and Easter. So much for picking and choosing.

  • id love to charge all the doctors and school people that fucked with me. i'd be rich!

  • @thetruegladiator If I wasn't laughing so hard at this crass, homophobic comment, I'd be crying. Of course, you'd mark this reaction as affeminate, and discount it as "the parents fault". The cruelty you have shown to people who show "innapropriate feminine/masculine behavior" is crude, neanderthalic, and inexcusable. Good day sir.

  • Witch Doctory aka Psychology should be banned...I wouldn't use it on my dog cough Pavlov cough.

  • You can change what we do on the outside, but it won't change who we are on the inside. It is child abuse to subject a child to this behavior. Shame on these organizations such as "focus on the family" and "family research council" What sick and hateful people.

  • @thetruegladiator Did you watch and listen to this story? The accounts made by the brother and sister about what happened to the boy after therapy? The regular beatings which were prescribed as part of therapy? You feel that is "just fine"? This kid was being beaten for following his natural instincts, and if his natural instincts are to be feminine, then how can you say he was not born that way? If you believe it's OK to destroy a child like that, you are a sick person and should not have kids

  • @thetruegladiator I cannot even describe how much I hate people who think like you. I'm a woman who grew up playing with dolls and stuffed animals (stereotypical feminine activities) and I just so happen to like women. What happened there, huh? Also, how the HELL can you be so ignorant regarding his suicide? The doctors practically traumatized the guy and made him feel worthless. He didn't trust people who were supposed to be helping him and one thing lead to another...

  • @thetruegladiator

Why is it ridiculous? Because that therapy was so long ago? It was supposed to have long-lasting effects. And it did, just not the expected ones.

And what exactly is "raising him correctly to be a man" supposed to mean? Breaking him until he fits your picture?

  • "Today it would be abuse." says the mother. No, it was abuse then too! It was just abuse that she approved of.

  • Just horrible... I'm so glad that I was never put through this as a child, I feel so sorry for that guy. :(

  • @DevilWomanCake I 100% agree

  • Is it me or is there a constant high-pitched beep in the background, rather annoying.

  • Just because someone is gay doesn't mean they will wear dresses and play with dolls.

  • this is so sick. if a young boy prefers Dolls instead of Guns , it isnt an indicator for beeing gay, its just his personal preferrence. (Did so myself btw. back in my younger years).. and today, i am as male as any others, and not gay at all. (And even if, treating homosexuality as a disease is .. just sick. )

  • @xCrystaria nice alias and lavender purple profile wall my lovely german unicorn

  • There is simply no cause for this level of disgrace in humanity. Once the general population started becoming educated, attitudes like inspired by this reikers guy should have died out.

I hope one day it does.

I'm straight, and hope no one minds me saying...:

    GAY PRIDE!

  • @xCrystaria I hear that. When I was a kid I used to put on my Mom's shoes.

  • PLEASE READ!!!

  • @wspol624 yeah this was as crooked and wrong of a study that could have been imaginable. This kind of stuff happened all the time. Ever heard of Alfred Kinsey? His research is sstill the basis for so many misconceptions of reality... sign. Google him.

  • fixated characteristic of the entirity of their being. That is, Catholic love calls people to disengage from ALL sexually-centered identities, such that they may center their lived on an identity that is reflective of the wholeness of their being; as a multi-dimensional, wonderful, loving child of God. "Fullness" does not equal "less than fullness". Pro-sexual-identity advocacy groups advance that a person MUST subscribe to an identity reflective of "less than fullness". Is that Love? No.

  • I am Gay and proudly so. I am so glad my parents did not put me through this torture.

  • @dij7878 You are a beloved child of God my friend. Amen about this sort of torture. This is a tragedy.

  • i wonder if Kurt would have been gay had adults not been telling him all about it in his youth? I don't find telling a child about any form of sexuality is doing them any good. Instead, teach them how read, write, behave, and be children. My 2 cents.

  • This is *not* what modern Reparative Therapy is about:

    (1) Reparative therapy is only for volunteers; a 5-year-old boy cannot give informed consent.

    (2) Reparative therapy is "talk therapy"; punishment like beatings and electric shock have no value.

So let's not confuse "experiments" forced on children with Adults who want to change, volunteering for therapy to manage or eliminate of their same-sex impulses.

  • My oldest son played with his best friend, a girl, all the time when he was 4. They played with Polly Pockets. Great memories for later on in life right? WRONG, I graduated from West Point, am Army all the way. How could my wife and I sleep at night "knowing full well" that our child was in mortal danger...Actually HE WAS NOT, others are. My son is now 20 and is one of the most charismatic young adults I know. He is also a leader of people. Just what a proud Dad dreams of in a child!

  • Wait I thought they say people choose to be gay?

  • Reckers is a personality wrecker. I'd sue him, charge him with child abuse, put him in prison for dozens of years for his Nazi psychological experiments which are nothing less than crimes against children. So maddening that this closet gay man parades around as if he has something to offer the world, all packaged up in Reckers' own reaction formation and blatant lifelong professionally and religiously sanctioned homophobia.

  • this is what organised religion does for you

  • @nyjet2210 You are an evil creep.

  • I was in floods of tears watching this :(

  • The Catholic response is to love them. I encourage everyone to investigate that. Therapy is NOT the target nor the answer. People on all sides need to learn so much more about this topic... This is tragic, so so so tragic!

  • By "love them," may I ask about the church's definition of love? Some churches teach a philosophy of "Love the sinner, hate the sin." — an ugly sentiment that hurts, insults, and demeans gay people. "Love" with a sanctimonious qualifying clause isn't love at all.

Sexual orientation, like skin color, eye color, or left-handedness, is innate and immutable. The word "sin" has absolutely no place in the discussion.

  • @Stokernyc Love: 1) Sexual attraction is not chosen, therefore no free will is exercised, therefore, having a same-sex attraction is not sinful for the act of the will has not been engaged. As such, in no way does having a same-sex attraction separate a person from their loving Creator. That is Catholic love; to bring awareness of that reality.

  • @123MrBee Although no one chooses to become a homosexual, free will may still be exercised: an adolescent or adult can CHOOSE to embrace a "gay identity" or to get help to eliminate their same-sex impulses, i.e., reparative therapy. Also, acting on same-sex attraction DOES separate a person from God's love, just as any other sin; remember, it's "Hate the sin but love the Sinner."

  • @edpoor Hey yes I am mid-response. Getting to that stuff...

  • @Stokernyc That is, a person never ceases to be a valued and precious child of God. 2) Change therapy is not the Catholic response. "Fixing" someone or "straightening them out" is never the objective. Rather, the objective is to have ALL people come to love themselves as a precious child of God FIRST. This transformation of paradigm allows for the flourishing of the ENTIRE self, as opposed to having a person's being reduced to only a fixated segment of their personhood (sexuality).

  • @Stokernyc To LOVE someone means to love the fullness of a person (which does include an acknowledgement of the true and real, uninvited inclinations). The greatest act of love is to draw someone into an acknowledgement of who they fully are as a complete person, for in that, for in that, the fullness of their being is not reduced to anything less than what they have been created as (as a child of God). That is Catholic love, and it does not come by beating anyone over the head with a Bible.

  • @Stokernyc But rather, it comes by being there for that person, in the way that THEY need, which should be reflective of the loving example shown by Christ. The dilemma is that two unique things cannot both be "first". That is, a person cannot primarily identify as a Child of God, yet also primarily identify as ANY one of the sexually-centered identities (LGTBQ). B/c of this logical reality, a choice must be made. Catholic love is allowing people to discover this liberating + freeing choice.

  • Is the father now dead? No one forced him to participate by beating his son..

  • @nyjet2210 One need not look far to find societies monsters.

  • Monsters are real... But I wonder what is more monstrous, the alleged human who ‘treated’ Kirk, the parents who agreed to allow him to be subjected to this, or the society that permits this kind of thing to happen?

  • So. let me get this straight (no pun intended) This boy, despite being only five years old at the time so was really barely at an age to understand his own sexuality or really to even have a fully developed personality, was put through an 'experiment' to make him, for lack of a distinctly better term, Straight? Seriously?. This George Reker's is clearly an inhuman monster. Also, did they have a problem with the name Kirk? Do many people even spell Kraig like that instead of Craig?

  • @Proudtobeacommie

They probably labeled their subject "Kraig" as a way to keep his identity private.

  • @BjoernarEricSven

    That makes sense. Thanks

  • George Rekers should be put on trial for murder.

  • I say that faggot, George Rekers, should be hanged as punishment for what he did to Kirk and countless other gays. How else are we supposed to teach these assholes that their ideologies are wrong? Obviously, logic is not going through their thick skull.

  • This mother is disgusting but sadly typicle of American middle class women of her generation. .

  • ok... so now after 30 plus years they are blaming his death on the "experiment"?

    Sound fishy to me....

  • @r300zxsupras200

Why is it "fishy"? Wasn't that "therapy" supposed to effect him for more than 30plus years? Would you be satisfied if he had killed himself as a boy?
