some brilliant additions...notably the added 3po footage and the new shots of the death star...the only superfluous one is the torture droid "enhancement" it doesnt work for me
I was watching the blu-ray version of ANH a few days ago and I couldn't help but notice the number of errors George "Fixed" to be in line with your edit. I think that says something positive about you, personally!
Luke's lightsabre jump-cut looks better as a jump-cut, the 'smoothing' draws more attention to itself it being more 'unnatural'. At least the original jump-cut is like a human 'blink'. Smooting -like a 'zoom'- cannot be replicated by the human eye, this is why jump-cuts can work.
As I said before and hope to not say again:There originally was Star Wars music to this clip, but unfortunately youtube made me remove the music and replace it with the now banal piece of crap you so wanted removed! sorry...

I understand what you mean, but would you think of a torture droid in the prequels look like that? It'd be CG, and have ten arms constantly rotating or something. It's a light touch, and it makes it look less "cheesy sci-fi"
I dont think ANYTHING in the original SW was "cheesy." That word is overused and misused far too often. On the contrary, the original torture droid was the height of seriousness, a robot that hovers because the support bar is hidden off camera. Elegant simplicity equals realistic effect.
@SpreadingtheMuse Personally I don't think Ady's electro needle works but as a conventional syringe the original doesn't work either (for one thing how is it supposed to get into position to jab Leia and if a syringe was to be used wouldn't it be easier just to get a human to do it?). I can see why he reworked it but the final result is the only thing that doesn't fit this edit in my view.
The original needle had the advantage of being an ordinary, non-flashy non-obnoxious object. Not begging for attention, just sitting there and letting its diabolic potential use do its talking for it to play on your imagination.
I wasnt ever too worried about how the needle would get her, as it was a hovering robot after all, and you can see Vader reaching for her. But a hand-held needle wouldnt have worked, too ordinary. We need robots in sci fi, just not electro robots.
@SpreadingtheMuse The original needle's everyday nature was a bit too funky for my liking too. This is a fictional universe with laser swords and mystical energy fields and the syringe perched on the edge of a floating ball just smacks a bit too much of The French Connection (I love that film but Star Wars does the familiar with a twist).
I suggested something like a scanning laser effect (very 70's, think Alien) which could do some sort of hypnotic laser display or maybe a dart.
The problem with any FX in that scene is that the needle is a known item, we KNOW it hurts, we know its scary. That lets the scene explain itself without any corny exposition or dialogue and ruins the mood by explaining to the audience how dangerous our big flashy light is supposed to be, if only you knew what it did.
This is so much better thank you great job their was one mistake I still see but its ok its ok at 6:06 the two aliens talking they are both the same race but yet ones hands are bigger than the others I use to tell myself that ones a female and there hands a more smaller than the males more like human hands well again great job! Love it!
Thanks for that stratanica! you got that right. Yes I had to/was forced to change the music due to the Beatles like attitude of the superband MECO and they're copyright issues. The track I added is a little creepy I agree with you shadowselfballbag but it was the only track that would fit the 8 mins of the video. Please forgive me??? x
YES! FUCK YOU GEORGE LUCAS! After reading about Clone Wars I was about to hang up my star wars cap and give in to hate....but but thank teh internetz! And thank you Adywan. Now how do we go about finding this gem??
Adywans is better.

I love this music what is it? It somehow fits. Sounds like the Max Rebo Band playing a funeral dirge.

To those people complaining about the music - so what? Don't get so uptight:
you may say: "BUT OMG IT'S STARWARS IT'S GOT TO HAVE MF'ing STARWARS MUSIC !!! GAHH!"
Get over it. I happen to like this spacey serene track with the visuals. It placed the context of the visuals in a different perspective.

Putting a laser on the torture droid was a tad tacky. There's a difference between fixing an error and fixing something that wasnt broke.

You should have done a side-by-side comparison of original and new.
Would have made the comparisons stand out more.
PsychoCheese1337 2 years ago
I like 90% of these new changes, but some seemed a bit over-the-top...removing the fly? The droid tracks? Luke's macros? Those things were all fine.
But hey, I have OCD too, so I know how it is...

oh yea would be nice to sneak a clone trooper helmet into OBs pad maybe have it sitting on a bench or table.
