  • Does it works plugged in a PC?

  • @Svalfio yeah

  • @therocker33dc You're the first that give me this answer.. Something as 5/6 people told me that they doesn't work.. Are you sure?

  • @Svalfio well it worked for me

  • do these work for ps3? because they all say 360 and i really need a new pair of drums.

  • dude this video is amazing

  • 4:17 to 4:20 . U wanna bet? There's always something wrong with my Rock Band 2 drums. And you're saying you don't recomend it?

  • @neospacian1AWESOME thnx cuz I can get headphone splitters from work for free

  • 0:57, are you smoking while making a video? Lol ;)

    nice video :D

  • Does this have a headphones port? or should I just plug my headphones into the TV?

  • ah ha naughty naughty SMOKIN KILLS

    just kiddin man good work

  • hey can you plug in cybals to this? cuz i boutgh a set and did this but i was just wondering if cymbals work for it

  • No. There are no ports for the cymbal add-ons.

  • dang! i thought it would maybe work with these cuz of the headphone plugins

  • @GrundelCake run a headphone splitter at each port. then add the cymbals

  • @stratisfire If you have a rockband 2 Stockkit you can actually use the pads for teh portable set for cymbals

  • @stratisfire if you put in headphone splitters it can accept cymbals

  • @stratisfire they do just put a headphone splitter in each desired hole .then add the cymbals. you can do double bass too. kinda like ions

  • @therocker33dc lol that was a quick answer

  • @stratisfire yea but it works! try it!

  • are the good woods that much better than the mad catz portables?

  • Yes they are but you need to try them yourself to really know.

  • yes but for goodwood mods u need any rockband drum kit(RB1/RB2) i think, but portable drums can be used without any other drum kit

  • i only modded my drum kit like this because by pedal snapped and i can't get a new one, as i live in the uk. come on harmonix...

  • If you bought the portable drum kit solely for the kick pedal that comes with it....well, you didn't watch the video did you?

  • you are living in UK? there's bunch of pedals... look on ebay

  • heyi was also wondering if you can use the headphone thing for any other games

  • im buying this and im gonna put then on my real drum sept without the velcrow

  • What will you use to attach the pads?

  • i think i might get suction cups or just attach little clamps to the pads

  • Just tried this. Works perfectly.

  • Enjoy

  • good vid man and thars a great idea. i did the same thing and it works perfect.

  • Does the portable kit work with guitar hero

  • yes

  • GET A JOB AND BUY THE IONS :D jk this actually works! good job bro :P

  • the kit is 20 bucks at gamestop now, i bought one

  • Did you put the portable kit directly on the RB1 pads or did you have separation between them?

  • The only thing between the RB1 kit and the portable kit's pads are 1.) Those black coverings are silencers I bought from an online source. and 2.) the strips of velcro......that's it.

  • i just bouth a rock band 1 drum set...ppl are telling they are cheap and will break...by puttin the portable kit on will it maybe make it last longer or something??

  • By modding your RB 1 set with the portable one, you don't use the rb1 set...so yes, it lasts longer if you never use it.

  • I never heard them breaking on anyone. I've had mine for almost 4 months they still work fine.

  • fuck fuck fuck i just broke my rockband 1 set yesterday because i was pissed that it would not work i freaking it's torn in half sigh

  • That sucks, I wish I could offer better advice but you will have to buy a new set. They're only $30 or $40 I think. It could just be a fluke with your set because mine is still working excellent after 6 months of regular use.

  • what broke? One of the pads from the portable kit? If that's what broke, I can only recommend you buy a new portable kit since they don't sell individual pads. Did I answer your question?

  • Hey, i saw your vid as i was wanting a rb1 kit (cnt get rb2 :(...long story) and was thinking of doing all the mods to it, sock mod, coin mod, silencer pad etc. but the madcatz kit has made me think. how much better are they when compared to the default kit? i was thinking of doing what u did in the vid w/ a good pedal, and silencers. would the silencers effect the sensitvity? what would be best? sorry if i confused you :) Thanks

  • well, the kit comes with those rubber head drum sticks. When used with the prtbl kit, they're fairly quiet compared to other kits with wooden sticks. I would recommend you get the rb1 kit, attach the prtbl kit as I show in the video and see what you think. Also, I bought the "Rock Pedal" which is similar in price to other premium pedals----$75. It does work with this kit and combined together, enables you to play much much better.

  • If you aren't satisfied with the sound this creates, I guess you can do the sock or coin method....whatever you think will work however I haven't tried any other method besides what you see in the video.

  • I wouldn't recommend using the silencer pads though, I'm not sure how it would affect the sensitivity of the pads, I would assume it would hamper your ability to play.

  • Hi!

I watched your movie, great job with this drum kit of yours :)

Do you know if there is any way for Madcatz Portable Drum Kit to work with ps3? Please let me know!

Maybe there's a way to modify cables and adding USB plug at the end?

  • I'm sorry but I have no knowledge on how to do what you're describing. I'm only familiar with what you see in my video. Thanks for the compliment!

  • dude, with enough splitters and time u can make a ION set with these, just get 4 sets of the portable drums, PVC pipe, and and wood(lol)

  • why is not recommended for RB2 drum kit?

  • please read previous comments/replies.

  • I bought these for a friend to play RB & DTXMania on (I have the Ions). When I tested them out, I couldn't believe how responsive they were. Madcatz has really turned their reputation around.

  • if i got the ion kit id get it for the cymbals and the spaced out pads not for the response

  • when i get a chance i'll do a review for these, which should include an update to my double-bass issues. I have done some changes to the rock band drum set to make it easier. I have to agree these are perfect in sensitivity and performance. I'm still getting used to the slight rebound though.

  • since there more sensitive, are the pads quieter than stock drums w/ silencers included?

  • There aren't any "silencers" included however, if you use the rubber tip drum sticks with this kit, there is considerably less noise created than the original Rock Band drum kit used with wooden sticks.

  • So the regular kick pedal will work when plugged in to the portable drum kit?

  • 20 bucks...

  • dude.....smoking can kill you.....how can you rock out when your dead?

  • haha good point!

  • he can

  • ROFLMAO

  • i did the same thing but i made it so the square thing is in the front so i can like pause it

  • haha i just taped my portable set onto my old RB1 set. and i use a sock mod too, it quiets the sound as the sticks from the portable set box are too heavy and unreliable

  • I took the pads off the rock band 2 set. Would the portable drums fit in place of them? Like fit inside where the pads would go.

PS i already threw the old pads away or i wouldn't be asking :P

  • I don't know, I haven't tried doing that. If you threw the old pads away, by now, haven't you already tried to fit the prtbl drum pads into the kit?

  • No, I'm actually planning on picking them up tomorrow and I was asking just to make suure so I don't them and screw myself over.

    Oh well :]

  • yeah, send me a friend request...if you didn't finish the video, my Gamertag is "Grundel Cake"

I mainly prefer band quickplay but if you want to play head to head, I must inform you that I only play against humble opponents. You'll never hear me complain about losing and I don't trash talk, so I expect the same of my opponents. I'm on at random times since my work schedule bounces me around on different shifts but I'm on almost everyday.

  • yeah, it's basic......

  • do the portables work the same with the rb2 .

  • yeah, but if you have the cymbals add on, then you can't use those with the portable drum kit since they only attach to the rb2 kit.

  • you can mod them 2 work its pretty simple

  • dade plug in the crapy bass with headphone splitter and double bass aeh

  • I don't mean to be rude but your posts make no sense. What do you mean by "can I get some gameplay?" Are you asking if you want to play together? My Gamertag is listed at the end of the video. As for your second post, please clarify because I'm not going to attempt to guess.

  • dude can i get some gameplay

  • and do these have good rebound?

  • They have excellent rebound....before I started using this, I could not beat Everlong on expert. The excellent rebound enabled me to get the rhythm required for that song.

  • do u put them on the rb1 pads themselves or can u just take the pads off, take the wire out and put the velcro on the part where the pads connect to

  • I don't quite understand what you mean. I didn't remove any parts from the RB 1 kit or the portable kit. I just stuck one side of the velcro to the RB1 kit and the other velcro side to the portable kit.

  • You can pull the pads off of the drumset and there will be a wire connected to the pad and the drumset. So what I'm asking is can you take the the wire out, throw the broken pad away and just velcro the portable pads to where the old pads used to be?

  • Yeah, I don't see why not. I don't really have the technical know-how to do that without screwing something up, but I haven't tried that. Let me know if it works.

  • well i got my rb2 drumset to work so i prolly wont be doing it anytime soon but if i ever do i will tell u

  • why is it not recomended for rock band 2 kits?

  • Because I have never used a RB 2 kit. This mod is really intended for a RB 1 kit that doesn't perform to standards. However, if your RB 2 kit doesn't function correctly (i.e. sensors don't register hit) then this mod is compatable with the RB 2 kit.

  • this is a genius idea. props man

  • thank you, as you may see in the comment posted below, I am willing to concede that I'm not the FIRST person to do this but I appreciate the credit given.

  • when you said stick it to the back...where you showing the back of the portable blue pad?

  • yes that is the blue pad

  • It`s the give it all gold stars vid.

  • I see you added your portable drum kit to an older kit but your video does not show how you attached the two together. Our ideas may be similar, but our videos show two entirely different things. I don't mind if you claim this idea, however, this video and method shown are original.

  • that`s my idea.check my channel for proof

  • Are you suggesting that I stole your idea? We may have the same concept, but I made this video on my own accord, not from your video.

  • Your channel has two videos....which one are you referring to?

  • on a scale from 1 to 10, how would u rate the quietness?

  • Let me scale the other drum kits first:

    RB 1 Kit----9 (loud)

    RB 2 kit----- 5 (soft)

    Prtbl Kit---- 6

  • I guess I should elaborate. Velcro has two sides to it...the rough side and the smooth side. Put one side on your RB drum kit and the other on your portable drum kit...then the two stick together and can be removed if you plan on making your portable drum kit "portable."

The hit recognition system is flawless...not once since I've started using this have I missed a note due to hitting the pad too hard or too soft.

  • I did this exact thing, but I used double-sided tape to tape onto the existing tape on my RB1 drums. Also the pads work great, better than any kit I've played on.

  • hey, nice mod i've got this set up atm its working well.

Coupla questions, I havent bought the velcro but did you attach it to the original rb1 pad? And how do you attach it to the surface?

Also, do you know how the hit recognition system works with this kit?

Im interesting in taking out the sensors and putting them in a real drum kit.

  • I was actually thinking about doing just this. Do they last more than 1 million hits?

  • yes, I think I remember seeing a little note on the box that said it lasts over a million hits

  • Thanks for the reply. I ended up buying the Portable Rockband drum kit anyway. Even if the kick pedal isn't as good as the default one, the extreme portability of this kit definitely makes it a lot less bothersome to drag around than the official drum set. :)

  • I had a similar idea, but my idea was to move the red pad to the front-center of the kit since that seems to be the arrangement most drummers use for their snare placement.

P.S. How would you rate the bass pedal? I was thinking the portable drum kit pedal might be easier on my legs since I'm not a drummer, so my legs start aching after a few songs; that's even with me trying the "hold pedal down and lift to hit" method. :)

  • Since I prefer the original bass pedal, I would rate the portable drum kit pedal a 4/10. It lacks the 45 degree angle that I've been accustomed to. Your foot basically lays flat and the other big problem....there's nothing to prevent it from sliding around....even on carpet. So after 30 seconds or so playing any typical song on expert drums, you'll find your leg about 3 feet away in the wrong direction of your drum kit.
