  • Thanks for posting, I love this show! I just saw BOA a few weeks ago, they still put on a great show!! Go JIM DANDY!!!!

  • I wish Jim Dandy would come to MY rescue...hot stuff, and as good or better than any Allman Bros.

  • they played this at a redneck wedding i was at........not a dry eye in the house

  • this dude invented spandex......

  • awesome band!

  • D.L.R.'s hero

  • there is more white trash there then a dumpster at a paper plate factory.

  • @Scrappy1138 OMG.....I thought I heard everything...I bow to your magnificent wit!! LMFAO!

  • Ruby's got legs long as the day...im tellin ya!

  • Dazed And Confused:D

  • @iL3gitxPoptartz Poor Tom ;(

  • David Lee Roth fans must be retarded to have paid that guy hundreds of millions of dollars, while most of them have no idea that he stole his act 100% from the singer of Black Oak Arkansas. If you have never heard what David Lee Roth sounds like after you strip away all the music and isolate his voice, there are examples all over YouTube of that no talent scumbag. They make you laugh at the fools, who have worshipped Roth all these years.

  • David Lee Roth should pay a little respect to the man he stole his look from...Just a shout out every once in a while ya think

  • Ruby Starr is soooo hot! Great song too!!

  • Just thought about this group and found this. I remember seeing Black Oak with Blue Oyster Cult and Black Sabbath at UMd Cole Field House in 73 or 74. Jim Dandy had this long beard and did an electric washboard solo....classic!!! And big legged Rudy Starr........wow!!

  • Hick shit. I do wonder about the DLR connection, but only in looks. In every other way, there is no comparison. This guy is charismatic though.........after a fifth of JD and a 1/4 ounce. The musicians suck ass.

  • Grins at that rainbow in the background. It was there during Black Sabbath's set too.

  • @wc4dblues You've got to be kidding me! Black Oak had many good songs. Jim Mangrum was a showman, pure and simple. They command and deserve as much respect as the Allmans and Skynard.

  • sorry folks....................but it wasn't Skynyrd or anyone else but the Allman Brothers band and particularly Duane Allman that were the pioneers of southern rock!

  • @Laf1960 You got it. These clowns had ONE THING GOING FOR THEM... A GREAT SONG,which they barely pulled off. You can't even speak this name in the same sentence with the ALLMAN Band. IT'S THE LAW.

  • @Laf1960 Oh how little you know Allmans are the the kings .But you got many more in there Black Oak started about the same time ,Johny Winters ,Marshell Tucker ,Leon Russell , Three Dog ,Dr Hook ,The Eagles ,believe it or dont .They were Linda Ronsadts back up band but they were all( except Joe Walsh) from the south .Then they struck out on their own .Linda being from Tucson Ariz

  • Tommy Aldridge on drums.

  • I did photo shoots at several of Black Oak's concerts in the summer of 1974. I can't tell you how much rowdy, crazy fun these guys were. They were. And Jim was totally imitated a few years later by David Lee Roth. Go Jim Dandy!

  • @areubaked i wasnt born until the 80s but black oak is amazing im now 26 and because of my dad and his influence in music im tottally hooked! rock the fuck on dudes

  • robert plant was too much of a wussmier to ever mock or mimick our one and only jim dandy hillbilly boy..

  • true look of a rock star of those times, robert plant saw him & said( iwanna look like that guy jimmy) then kieth moon said ( you guys will co down like a leAd zeppelin) yeah, it was supposed 2 be spelled that way at first.....tommy

  • wino from saint vitus was there

  • Music ain't about competition... it's about the song and the moment. These guys rocked, and I was fortunate enough to see them multiple times, in my youth. Saw Ruby Starr and Grey Ghost mutliple times as well. I'm glad I grew up when I did.

  • Just saw 'em at Bike Week in Virginia Beach a couple of weeks ago. Good show and friendly guys. They signed my ex-girlfriend's Lynyrd Skynyrd jacket. They did a nice tribute to Ruby playing the ol' Grand Funk version of Heartbreaker.

  • also the anouncer says the pioneers in southern rock, ah, sorry ,that belongs to the free bird boys!

  • one of the baddest dudes in southern rock! he should of been abig star!. but crappy follow up songs & drugs ended it. this is a cover song by the way. also if he played in the south 5 years early, they would of cut his hair off!

  • I LOVE SOUTHERN ROCKIN' BLUES., BUT NEVER COULD GET INTO THIS BAND. THEY ALWAYS SEEMED TO ME LIKE A BIT OF A JOKE...

  • @MrRoxxstar I hear ya. This was their best effort, but Skynyrd and the Eagles had the corner on the C&W market

  • "take a swig from the water jug, pass it on to your neighbor and try avoiding the backwash from his bong hit"...can you see that happening today? everyone would take out their little pump bottles of hand sanitizer before touching the jug. pussies.

  • Ruby Starr was a honey. The voice, big hair, short skirt and the attitude...one tight little package.

  • Thumbs up if you know a guy named Jim Dandy. lol no shit I do.

  • this is still cool as hell!!!!!

  • This video is posted on Facebook page called "Golden Tunes - Sound of Oldies", so if you have fb account and some time, check it, i guess you will like it :) Page is for everyone who like like warm cozy sound of evergreen music.

  • Black Oak Arkansas - how cool, so few know this music. Bunch of dolts around today

  • david lee roth was a 1980s jim dandy. but JD was way cooler

  • This is as redneck as it gets!

  • I was at the California Jam. My most vivid memory? Standing in line through 4 bands waiting to get into a port-a-potty. When I finally got in - it was literally filled to the top. I cried. Seriously.

  • David Lee Roth ? Happened dude?

  • Thanks bubba, makes me feel young again.

  • david lee roth was paying attention !!

  • @mojodubb88 LOL...that ain't no lie.

  • MENNINTITES YEAH!

  • BOA Forever Commomonnn People enough with the nigs.

  • MUIINTO BOM!!!!

  • my parents friend got me hooked on jim dandy

  • This music is timeless, I so wished I would have been there..would have only been about 7yrs old..LOL...LOVE Tommy Aldridge..I met him here in Jackson, MS, when I was only 16, did not know he had been the drummer of BOA..and I did not know that he was the drummer of White Snake. Me & my first love that I married & have a handsome son by of course later, he introduced me to Tommy & Tommy asked me what song I would like to hear on the guitar & I told him Stairway to Heaven & he played & sang it.

  • that my friends is rock n roll!~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • R n R at its best !

  • Thanks so much for this video. I bet my dad I could find him any four songs he wanted on here. I lost, because I couldn't find him "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven". But I found this, which was even better, because he was actually -at- this concert. :D

  • My god!! Know i know where he stole David Lee Roth stole his act from! LOL!!!

  • My god, Ruby Starr sure is sexy, even with that crazy scare-do. Does anybody else think she looks a bit like Natasha Lyonne?

  • I saw Ruby Starr back in the 70s, just when the Grey Ghost album came out. She and BOA ruled. I live in the Memphis, TN area now and Jim Dandy lives here now. He plays a lot of outdoor festivals in the area.

  • This Band ROCKED THE SOUTH

  • I ran across this video looking for Sabbath videos. Cool band! I love discovering bands that I don't know about but should. Great footage!

  • Ruby Starr was awesome.....I don't understand why anyone would diss her and BOA. This is Rock and roll royalty.

  • Takes one to "know" one!

  • Great R&R band too often written off by lame critics.

  • THANK YOU!

  • @homemoviescolorado ...there's a reason why this band isn't remembered that much anymore.
