I only bench 300, and Im a decent sized boy (6'4'' and 255), but constantly go against people bigger and stronger than me. One boy benched pressed 450 but I handled him pretty good and that does not make sense. I guess it is because I have great hip explosion power so make sure when yall work out to work on explosiveness too.

I have lifted 370 with perfect form and have a video on my facebook of it. I tried 375 but when locking out it got hung up in the rack and I was pushing against the bench its self! pissed me off. I will try it again my next chest workout and film it for youtube. I am also 18 and weigh 237

I agree. I actually graduated from AHS and I hit 355 when I weighed 152, never quite could break it, but then again I stayed flat on the bench and I had no belt or straps. He's right though when he says tricep work is key in improving your bench. I set the record (wrestling, mind you) for full dips at 92.

ok, yea, guess i need to train harder. one thing i'm realizing is this: i havent been doing flat bench ("real bench"), my gym only has the smith machine. then, i also stopped doing dumbbells, so my free weight bench strength dropped dramatically....on top of all that, i NEVER used to bench w/ full range (touch and stop on chest), so i'm workin on that too.
my goal in a year or more/less is to hit 225 lbs. i'm weaker now, due to change in motion and the machine, i hope i get stronger!

@stuylocster actually anybody who could get around 330 on a regular dont-lift-your-ass-off-the-bench type of bench press could get 380 easily if they raised their hips and ass up off the bench. trust me. doing this way is like using extra push from lower body like the hips and legs. bench is strictly upper body, shoulders, tris, chest and back, so this is cheating and would not be counted at a lifting competition

@cpizzle9 your right it would be cheating at a lift competition but where i think he dosent care and he isnt at one... and your wrong power lifters use leg drives all the time.. watch dave tate and you will see.. yah they dont lift there hips but between shirts and or there ridiculous arches its about the same.. either way the kid got the weight give him props.. o and if you do bench right its a full body exercise..

@mylesman99 Yea at my school if you lift your ass off the bench they have big leather blets that strap you to the bench...But I dont really care if any one lifts off the pbench or not...They still puched the weight just with a different style

haha well now im about 20 pounds heavier than in this vid...about 265 pounds and can do about 405...i did 225 pounds 31 times just the other day...but ya i take some supps and work out every other muscles in my body haha
