  • this is sick! i play drums but this makes me wanna play bass! praise God!

  • Thank you thank you thank you. I'm playing this song next month and you have seriously saved me some time...

  • I'm new at bass and I signed up for the worship group at my church and this is one of the songs i'm playing for my auditions. Any suggestions on how i could get better?

  • This is great man!!!! My dream is to one day play in my church band and things like these tabs are helping me get better :) hopefully soon I can reach my dreams!!!!

  • @overcometheidiots i totally thought this song was in B. The last "sing" ends on a B. I didnt know you could end a song on the 5 chord.

    -Confused

  • good job

  • @bass62player — Do you have a 1962 bass? Are you 62? I wish I could play with my fingers. That would add a whole new sound too! Thanks for your appreciation! I am so fulfilled by your words. I am glad the song worked out better for you! I just posted a new video for the Hillsong United mega-hit, "Salvation Is Here." Check it out. Learn the bridge solo. I always said that learning the solo (at full speed) would evidence that I mastered the bass guitar. It's better in finger-style anyways.

  • Hey, thanks so much for the tab and lesson on playing this one!

We did it at church this past weekend and I felt more comfortable on it than in the past.

I'm playing a 5 string so I changed some of the tab to cheat using the low B and keep some of the findering in the same place.

Wish I could play with a pick, really adds a new sound.

    Thanks again!

  • @smoon3 — I'll take your word for it. Good catch. Duly noted.

  • Keep up the great bass. U got some tabs wrong though. On all your A 7th fret slide downs, u have it on the A 7th fret but it's suppose to be on the E 7th fret. You're playing it right but tabbed it wrong.

  • @smoon3 also your tab @ 1:08 is incorrect for the 6->7. Should be on the A string not D.

  • @trabenfan001 — I can't send you the tab, but you can watch the video and write down the tab as it goes along. Let me know how that works out! Thanks! I hope your church plays the song. It is a very good song!

  • Can you send me the tabs? I'm really trying to get my churc's praise band to do this one but i can't find the bass tabs anywhere

  • @zazazsu — You are correct! ;p Why would you think it was not a Christian song? :p

  • @zazazsu — Tell me if you think it is or not.

  • @overcometheidiots yes it is ;p

  • is it a christian song?

  • @BassIsAwesome16 — I like pop / punk a lot too. Yes. I just posted a new video for the Christmas song, "My Soul Magnifies The Lord," by Chris Tomlin. I just posted it less than an hour ago. Check it out! I also am right now learning an EPIC Christmas song on bass for my last Christmas song of 2010. It'll be a hit in 2011 for next Christmas. Stay tuned for that!

  • @BassIsAwesome16 — I am not technical by any stretch, & that's why I like playing Pop/Rock. Worship, however, operates a lot in the old style, where band's covered each other, and that lets me learn the bass-lines that the masters play. hahaha. It sounds like they are kung fu sensei's! hahahaha. I would love to be in a kung fu movie. Did you know that James Bond actor, George Lazenby, took up Bruce Lee's contracted films after he died? THAT is why GL will always be the BEST Bond! :P (2/2)

  • @overcometheidiots Haha cool I love martial arts :P And I love pop/rock too. But, my favorite styles are pop/punk, screamo, metal and stuff like that. You are right, we need to learn the old stuff in order to fully understand music. :)

  • @BassIsAwesome16 — Thanks! Yes, it was my pleasure. I had to learn them for my church and I figured that since they were new songs they needed to be covered on YT. That's great! :) I am so happy I can help you! "Rise and Sing" is easy. Just play to the video over and over again until you get it. I pretty much memorized that song, because we played it at my church so many times, since it was the kids' favorite song from our Fall Retreat! I love my basses too! They're USA-made. (1/2)

  • Dude, this is an awesome cover and awesome song! Also, thanks for covering this, "Our God Is Greater", and "Say Say". I play bass in a worsip band that is going to play these and two other songs at a concert on New Years Eve. These vids help me alot! I just hope i can learn the fills for "Rise and Sing". And I love your Rick and Jazz Bass (is that an American made btw). When I play, I just keep it simple but lately I have been trying to get more technical (like walk ups/downs and chords)......

  • @mcmi11ions — Thanks and thanks! DUDE! Please do the following two things: Use ALL of the fills (you can do it!); & make someone TAPE you playing that song at your church, because I want to see how it turns out!

  • Great cover and tab! the praise team i play in started using this song and this weekend is the 3rd time we will be playing it. I usually keep it simple and just try to help keep the flow going with it, but i think i might try and use some of these fills this weekend... thanks!

  • @62stratfan — EBMM Sterling basses are meant for finger-style bassists & not pick-players like me. You lose all your tone when using a pick on those. I never learned finger-style, & I think one can keep a more even tempo using a pick instead of fingers. That amp seems pretty punchy & tight-sounding. It probably cuts through in the mix just fine. Your wife is amazing to do that for you! You married well! ;) What state do you hail from? The Brewster songs are OLD! Do you like any newer ones?

  • No, unfortuately I don't have a '62 Strat, just a user name. My wife got me an EBMM Sterling and an M-6 Carbine combo in an effort to keep my interest in music alive. After 45 years on and off of guitar, I burned out. We were attending the local Calvary at the time at it seemed like a natural transition. I'd like to see a couple of L. Brewster songs tabbed, "Love the Lord" and All the Earth Will Sing Your Praises". Not exactly new, but cool non the less.

  • @62stratfan — Do you own a 1962 Fender Stratocaster? Thank you kindly, sir! It is my greatest joy to be of any avail to your pursuit of the bass guitar. Jesus did all he did in three years. I could die now if not a second sooner. Maybe someone just found me dead and decided to finish my comment to you. What got you into playing the bass? Are there any new Praise and Worship songs that you're enjoying as of late? I need suggestions for more tracks to tab and cover. God Bless you!

  • Nice work! I'm almost 3 times your age, but you're almost 3 times the player I am. Got into P&W as I'm much closer to the end than to the begining. Time to make peace, I guess. Are you recording form an amp? If so, what are you using? Great tabbing work, btw, hope to see more.

  • @BeeWiseman — Also, I try to cover new songs, because I know it takes a while for the larger church community to touch on them, so again, I am given more time to develop my channel and audio and video quality before I am inevitably overrun by true (rich people) "professionals." The founder of "The Home Depot" said that THD couldn't be started today, because of restrictive laws making company-starting seed minimums way higher. I need a slow, isolated growth time in order to stay alive on YT.

  • @BeeWiseman — I don't get many views because NO ONE else does video tabs for bass, so no one knows to look for them—yet. I could "spam" people that comment on covers of the same songs telling them to check out my own videos, but I know that will just guarantee me a number of copycats. I want to have 50 videos made before I REALLY put myself out there. I also play every note that the original version covers. That's my biggest point of pride; thorough reproduction.

  • It kinda baffles me at the fact that you don't get many views, seeing as how you not only play the song on bass in the video, but also provide tabs for it. BAFFLING I TELL YOU.

  • @nancenancynance — Thanks! Your voice is legit! What cool, fresh Christian song is stuck in your ears right now?

  • @rodwyr — Worship has changed. My youth pastor, who's also our worship pastor, was chilling with me one day, and we were talking about the future direction of worship music. He showed me something crazy. He played a David Crowder*Band single from a few years ago, and then he played some other band's new P&W song from this year. The BPM (beats per minute) had increased like ten or so! He said that the future is faster. I agree! I also like Drop C for worship! It's easier to sing.

  • Awesome job as usual...but I've noticed a pattern in worship music over the past couple of years...apparently it's against the law to write new music in any other key but B. Next thing you know for a few years they'll write stuff in nothing but F#. Fads get a little old.

  • @rodwyr I have noticed that also!

  • legit.
