Oh, WOW! They'd definitely need to keep the same cast; they were all so perfect for their roles in the series. Certainly NOBODY else could play Mr. Darcy but Elliot Cowan!!
They WILL have the same writer, Guy Andrews and he did write Amanda with Jemima Rooper in mind. So hopefully she can make a come back. But I fear they will probably change the story so that an American gets lost, instead of a girl from Hammersmith. That will allow the film to target a wider audience.
Therefore I give a semi-enthusiastic cheer and hope beyond hope.

you're right though, what would change? i mean, amanda already got to swap spit with darcy-- that of which i'm totally jealous of-- so what would be next? he already went into modern day london.... ahh, who the crap cares, it's being made into a MOVIE!!!!! :DDDDDDDD
I don't think it would be as good as the mini series after all the original cast rocked and played their parts so well.. I'm not very excited about this one, this I'll stick to my copy of the mini series dvd ^^
I wouldn't get too excited about this. Current buzz is that Emma Roberts - whose screen triumphs (please add sarcasm here) include "Nancy Drew" and "Hotel for Dogs" - is being considered as Amanda. This suggests to me that they intend to do what they did to the fantasy "The Dark is Rising" - turn the protagonist American and the entire story into a cliche.
I hope I'm wrong, but if this is the road Sony plans to travel it will ruin a miniseries and concept which is already letter-perfect, IMO.
They would have to make it sooo much shorter if it is going to be a film which is a shame because then you dont get to see the same build up of emotion lol. :)
I can't see how a new movie could surpass Lost in Austen. The acting and writing was brilliant. I thought Darcy should win an Oscar. How could he be so sexy and lovable while being so demeaning to Amanda. I love this movie!

I would be happy at least with keeping the original Amanda because she was just perfect - hilarious and a good actress. She fit the part. If she's not cast again they're gonna have a loooooot of work finding someone as good.
I read about it last week and it's going to be set in new york so it's likely that Amanda will be american and obviously the rest of the cast will have to be english but it means a completley different cast. I don't think it'll be as good as the orignal but I'm interested to see what it's going to be like.

Not much news about it - there's absloutely zilch media coverage.
I do know that the cast is still being contemplated... They're taking their sweet time.
I check here and there, but nothing new.

As long as it's good. Kinda 50/50 about it because of the new cast being brought in but I won't stress about it.
Hopefully though, It'll be a new story line. No point in just re-doing what happened in the TV series...:/
