  • if you beat a grandmaster does that make you a grandmaster? How do you become GM?

  • Kasparov RULES!!!!!!!

  • @BachehKhala FM stands for FIDE Master. FIDE is the world chess federation and stands for Federation Internationale Des Echecs.

  • Is it correct that GM means GrandMaster? And what does FM stand for?

  • I would love to fluke beat the worlds best chess player

  • i thought that the FM was anand! he looked like it!

  • So Kasparov beat someone with a 2200 rating. Fantastic.

  • @leifmp Yeah, it's kind of like Tiger Woods beating me(9-handicap) at golf. But there is also the 'Awe factor' - I'm sure Ghannoum was extremely nervous.

  • FM Marc Ghannoum vs. GM Gary Kasparov

  • did karpvo play sicilian defense?unable to make out the moves..

  • playing chess against kasparov is like arguing with a women...you are going to lose.

  • @Ariel1Dominguez lol!!!!!!

  • opening the b-column for kasparov rook was like a suicide

  • Porque no filmaron desde arriba para ver las jugadas....

  • wow. kasparov has still got it :)

  • This makes me feel like playing a game... Logging on ICC now.

  • Why is everything so black?

  • Why hurry ? This game is chess or tenis ?

  • @TheNameTooSexyToShow Because it's a five minute time control, maybe? lol

  • @TheNameTooSexyToShow It's a blitz match.

  • I love how Garry is so expressive with how he thinks about his next move.

  • i cant see.

  • Thanks for posting this video. It is such a pleasure to see GK in action. The greatest chess player of all time.

  • @widebody123 Capablanca is the greatest lololol.

  • Wow, I can only imagine what a pleasure it was to play against GM Kasparov.

  • Announcer = douche.

  • I know GM stands for Grand Master, but what does FM stand for?

  • @warblerab It Stands for FIDE master which is a chess organization

  • @warblerab Fuck Master

  • Du bist der beste!

  • kasparov is thae graet at all time

  • @sharlyon Bobby fischer was the greatest

  • Kasparov beat French super GM Vachier Lagrave a few months ago, although he is away from competitive chess for like 6 years. He still seems to be in great shape.

Also, nobody can criticise the FM for playing on. Of course he will, until a moment when he sees that there is no reasonable move remaining on the board. As most of the people does.

  • worst. chess clock. ever.

  • @wallstreetatheist I agree. It is a pain to press that small button again and again...

  • 2. match where ?

  • Hell yeah! Garry destroyed that guy :D

  • can i watch the game somewhere? i can't see from this angle

  • Pete Sampras is better at chess than I expected...

  • damn, all that gray hair on Kasparov, time really flies.

  • @FeebyYoyo stfu

  • wow, they play really fast

  • i don't understand the purpose of the timer

  • @SplitYoWigBack

The timer is a great machine used to count things, such as cooking devices, fuckin faded, vanish, anything that you can do to reset aggro. "There is no aggro reset"

  • @demerda lolwut

  • wtf am i the only one who has some serious difficulties following the game from this angle?

  • @kouluampuja96 he played the sicilian i think, lol

  • done got stomped

  • Kasparov my Idol !!

  • Kasparov destroyed him really.

  • 6:19 Kasparov put a hex on Ghannoun's rook. :)

  • what an honor for the FM. re: resigning late, i wouldn't resign until i knew i couldn't draw it. you don't get to play the greatest chess player in history every day, you may as well give it your all, no?

  • @jaileroflove He didn't play Fischer loloololl.

  • @varishnakov you just mentioned my 2 favorite players :D Fischer and Capablanca, also from the new generation i like Magnus Carlsen style

  • @jaileroflove :TRUE MAN ANY DAY...I WOULD STILL GO ON PLAYIN EVEN IF I DIDNT HD MY QUEEN ON D BOARD

  • @jaileroflove You don't get to impress the greatest chess player in history with your humbleness every day either.

  • i wish i am good as Kasparov hmmm pls transfer your chess skills to me :) im serious ok

  • @poochpoints thanks for the info. I know about the opposite colored bishops but this is the probably the greatest player ever but then again you cannot win without trying.

  • is a privilege to see kasparov today ... he is arrogant and what you want but it is the best ever .. Best of all is that eventually he explain where you made a mistake

  • This is kind of amazing to watch.

  • Perhaps a few precisions are in order. 1) I'm NOT a grandmaster, just a simple master who got to play his chess idol. 2) Although the result was NEVER in doubt, it was somehow competitive. 3) With only 1 minute to play, it was absolutely justified to continue playing, until I lost the exchange. There are drawing tendencies with bishops of opposite color. To those who think I should have resigned when I knew I was lost, I could have done so on the first move!

  • @MarcoBJJ11 very cool, not many people get this kind of opportunity....good job

  • @MarcoBJJ11

You're in the 2200 league, and as such you did stand your ground pretty well against the "1000 eyes monster", bearer of the best elo rating that never got into a man's grasp.

Kudos to you, and just ignore the haters. They're jealous.

  • @MarcoBJJ11 trolls are a dime a dozen on this site, do not let the haters bother you :)

  • @MarcoBJJ11 No doubt, that's how you have become as good as you are now. A great match.

  • @MarcoBJJ11 You did better than I would have been able to do. Playing kasparov is intimidating as hell

  • @MarcoBJJ11 You Played a great game, I only have a passing interest in Chess! However, I love to watch great minds plotting and planning. Kasparov is the greatest, Magnus Carlsen is now up there with the best..Chess is a wonderful game to be even slightly good at!

  • @MarcoBJJ11 it should have been really cool playing Kasparov. I would also have played until i'd get mated

  • @MarcoBJJ11 I understand... I would sell my soul for a chance to play Kasparov...

  • Jeez, would the lot of you shut up. Just saying you got to play the great Kasparov is an honor in itself, even if you knew you were probably going to lose the game.

  • who is FM Ghannoum??

  • @Jassem1024 Fide Master Marc Ghannoum

  • who is FM Ghannoum??

  • i thanks for the game, it is nice to see Kasparov, and we all thought the other guy would get beat up, but i still would prefer to see the game from a perspective on which i could appreciate the development of the game... other opinion this video is boring boring as .....

  • He's two pawns down late in the game and he is still playing on against the greatest player in history? Show some class and resign.

  • @royplayer In case you didnt know a draw is possible in some instances when the ending is of opposite coloured bishops and two pawns down.

The defending side has to build a fortress.

  • May I ask what chessboard/set this is? Looks like high quality...looks expensive...

  • i beat kasparov in 5 minutes....

  • @jrmagrelis I beat him in 5 seconds

  • @Rueyful

you really faster...LOL, i need 4 minutes to learn his moves, but ok...

  • 3:21 He does this noob really think he can beat Kasparov.

  • Kasparov knew that whole fucking game before it happened. He was just waiting to see which variation took place. What a champ.

  • Kasparov is awesome

  • he looks tired and sad, the talent is still intact but putin took away his panache :-(

  • would like to have watched this from a better camera angle!

  • kasparov good grand master

  • good game

  • I had the unfortunate privilege of playing GK in simul 12 years ago. I lasted 27 moves. He is the ultimate chess player.

  • He's really the GameMaster xD

  • schach-brett.de

  • wow ....

  • ang galing talaga ni kasparov

  • birds eye view would be awesome

  • where's part 2?

  • At 8:31 Marc Ghannoum is probably referring to his play 19. a4 bxa4 20 . Rxa4 Rxb2 :D

  • @Deecee022 yes appears to have given up the 7th rank too easily.

  • isso ai kasparov voce é e sempre sera o melhor enxadrista do da historia!!!!!

  • tipo assim né...que q esse cara ta fazendo aqui na minha frente?!?!?!?

  • In the 1980s, the late english grandmaster tony miles who after having won a series of chess tournaments, played gary kasparov in a 6 game match. The result was 6-0 to gary. When asked the reason for his defeat by his fans, tony miles said "I thought i was going to play a 22 year-old chess world champion, NOT a chess monster with a thousand eyes!!!

  • The announcer is a douchebag.

  • hahaha Garrys face expression at 4:45

  • commentator is annoying.

  • Grand Kasparov, meu idolo!

  • what the fuck is the announcer doing

  • Armenian power

  • lol did u see that , what the hell kind of opening was that? pawn on the far right? Kasparov must be playing him

  • @Apoic123 ... it's called the Sicilian...

  • @Apoic123 I thought it was a weird pawn move too. But looking at the move list posted. It was just pawn to c5, which is the famous scicillian defense

  • @Apoic123 It looked like a Sicilian closed Grand Prix attack

  • @Apoic123 I think it was B23 Sicilian: Closed

  • Why the clock is in the right side of white????

  • Kasparov has the best balance of talent and arrogance. As much as you may try, you just can't dislike this guy. His greatness at chess just overshadows any character flaws.

  • @dovespin1 Do you really think prowess over a board game gives you the right to be a douchebag? Loloolololo.... Anyway he's just really competitive and not necessarily arrogant.

  • @GreasemonkeyCGI i didn't say he was a douchebag, just not the most humble person. As long as he doesn't disrupt his opponent, I guess he can pretty much do what he wants, right?

  • @dovespin1 Also he was just a bit angry because that guy actually played on with only a bishop and a few pawns vs Kasparov's bishop, rook and bunch of pawns. It's a fairly disrespectful thing to do especially for an FM of all people. That's why the arbiters were shaking their head near the end.

  • @GreasemonkeyCGI If Kasparov was annoyed it didn't show much. The FM actually paid for the honor to play the short blitz match. I think he can play it as far as he wants. It's not like it was a classical game that took 5 hours and kept Kasparov from catching a flight. I've played tournament chess, and believe me, I've seen real disrespect, like flying coke cans.

  • @GreasemonkeyCGI He was only down 2 pawns at the end.

  • Kasparov eats FM for breakfast :D

  • what does FM mean?

  • @tweakmeup1 it means FIDE MASTER

  • kasparov apertura polaca

  • i like the way he delayed developing his kingside, in which he was saying "bring it on noob, you won't be able to coordinate a winning attack against me."

i guess his muscle memory for quickly moving pieces of the middle of squares is worse than he brain thinks it is, he probably just plays online chess now.

  • Love watching Kasparov play. And it's nice to see such a recent game.

  • @rmmcclay Absolutely we miss him dearly!!

  • @rmmcclay Agreed. Kasparov tends to be quite animated at the table. Especially when he blunders.

  • hahaahaaaah I agree stupid question sure Kasparov won, FM masters are easily for Kasparov!

  • really Kasparov ask so much???? think Kasparov is very happy now it where easy games for Kasparov :)

  • @msn140 If you think 5000 is too much, how about Michael Jordan's 15000?

If you have the money, It's not too much if you are playing against the greatest of all-time.

How much is a Nike's Jordan brand shoe now? Now that is too much! lol

  • @tweakmeup1 look unfair look the video he wanna analyse the game he not can only 2 games for 5 min grr for 5000

  • @msn140 If you become the greatest chess player of all time, you will know why this is fair.

Anyways you may still play him for free, if you can get listed in one of his simultaneous exhibition games.

  • Am I the only one impressed by the way Kasparov exchanges rooks at 7:35? I tried it myself on a chess set but failed... Maybe my hands are too small lol

  • I love Kasparov's game. He's a great ambassador of chess. My only issue was his chauvinistic treatment of J. Polgar during his playing days. She deserved better as a top-ten player in the world.

  • @dovespin1 What kind of chauvinistic treatment? Do you have an example?

  • who won anybody pleasE?

  • @GsxRaider you're kidding, right?

  • @dovespin1 no im not,i really dunno who won.

  • @GsxRaider Kasparov won.

  • Ghannoum had to pay 5,000$ for this honor..

  • @Tulpenkrem1 5000 to play a game vs kasparov? no way!

  • yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss please game 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks

  • is this a blitz game????

  • Kasparov Rules!! He is the King of Chess!!

  • @jsberson gimme a link 4 a program that can make these codes useful

  • @omer88f Does this mean that you don't know how to read algebraic chess notation?

  • @timpani112 That's not Algebra (the originally Arabian science , if u mean that) and yes I can read them but I want something to decode it quickly I want make it move by move .

  • @omer88f I never said that it was algebra. What I meant was algebraic chess notation, which this type of chess notation is called. And if you can read it I don't understand your original comment at all. Why can't you just use an ordinary chess board?

  • Wow, je suis a un niveau 2 de Kasparov! Félicitation d'avoir eu un match contre Kasparov!!!
