@leifmp Yeah, it's kind of like Tiger Woods beating me(9-handicap) at golf. But there is also the 'Awe factor' - I'm sure Ghannoum was extremely nervous.
Kasparov beat French super GM Vachier Lagrave a few months ago, although he is away from competitive chess for like 6 years. He still seems to be in great shape.
Also, nobody can criticise the FM for playing on. Of course he will, until a moment when he sees that there is no reasonable move remaining on the board. As most of the people does.
The timer is a great machine used to count things, such as cooking devices, fuckin faded, vanish, anything that you can do to reset aggro. "There is no aggro reset"
what an honor for the FM. re: resigning late, i wouldn't resign until i knew i couldn't draw it. you don't get to play the greatest chess player in history every day, you may as well give it your all, no?
@poochpoints thanks for the info. I know about the opposite colored bishops but this is the probably the greatest player ever but then again you cannot win without trying.
is a privilege to see kasparov today ... he is arrogant and what you want but it is the best ever .. Best of all is that eventually he explain where you made a mistake
Perhaps a few precisions are in order. 1) I'm NOT a grandmaster, just a simple master who got to play his chess idol. 2) Although the result was NEVER in doubt, it was somehow competitive. 3) With only 1 minute to play, it was absolutely justified to continue playing, until I lost the exchange. There are drawing tendencies with bishops of opposite color. To those who think I should have resigned when I knew I was lost, I could have done so on the first move!
You're in the 2200 league, and as such you did stand your ground pretty well against the "1000 eyes monster", bearer of the best elo rating that never got into a man's grasp.
Kudos to you, and just ignore the haters. They're jealous.
@MarcoBJJ11 You Played a great game, I only have a passing interest in Chess! However, I love to watch great minds plotting and planning. Kasparov is the greatest, Magnus Carlsen is now up there with the best..Chess is a wonderful game to be even slightly good at!
Jeez, would the lot of you shut up. Just saying you got to play the great Kasparov is an honor in itself, even if you knew you were probably going to lose the game.
i thanks for the game, it is nice to see Kasparov, and we all thought the other guy would get beat up, but i still would prefer to see the game from a perspective on which i could appreciate the development of the game... other opinion this video is boring boring as .....
In the 1980s, the late english grandmaster tony miles who after having won a series of chess tournaments, played gary kasparov in a 6 game match. The result was 6-0 to gary. Kasparov has the best balance of talent and arrogance. As much as you may try, you just can't dislike this guy. His greatness at chess just overshadows any character flaws.
@dovespin1 Do you really think prowess over a board game gives you the right to be a douchebag? Loloolololo.... Anyway he's just really competitive and not necessarily arrogant.
@GreasemonkeyCGI i didn't say he was a douchebag, just not the most humble person. As long as he doesn't disrupt his opponent, I guess he can pretty much do what he wants, right?
@dovespin1 Also he was just a bit angry because that guy actually played on with only a bishop and a few pawns vs Kasparov's bishop, rook and bunch of pawns. It's a fairly disrespectful thing to do especially for an FM of all people. That's why the arbiters were shaking their head near the end.
@GreasemonkeyCGI If Kasparov was annoyed it didn't show much. The FM actually paid for the honor to play the short blitz match. I think he can play it as far as he wants. It's not like it was a classical game that took 5 hours and kept Kasparov from catching a flight. I've played tournament chess, and believe me, I've seen real disrespect, like flying coke cans.
i like the way he delayed developing his kingside, in which he was saying "bring it on noob, you won't be able to coordinate a winning attack against me."
i guess his muscle memory for quickly moving pieces of the middle of squares is worse than he brain thinks it is, he probably just plays online chess now.
Am I the only one impressed by the way Kasparov exchanges rooks at 7:35? I tried it myself on a chess set but failed... Maybe my hands are too small lol
I love Kasparov's game. He's a great ambassador of chess. My only issue was his chauvinistic treatment of J. Polgar during his playing days. She deserved better as a top-ten player in the world.
@timpani112 That's not Algebra (the originally Arabian science , if u mean that) and yes I can read them but I want something to decode it quickly I want make it move by move .
@omer88f I never said that it was algebra. What I meant was algebraic chess notation, which this type of chess notation is called. And if you can read it I don't understand your original comment at all. Why can't you just use an ordinary chess board?
