  • what happens if the fibriod is as large as a grapefruit? I've had scans n MIR to figure out what can be done as my stomach is like 8 months pregnant. My doc advised a hysterectomy but I'm hesitant because I'd like to have children. My periods are sometimes heavy but otherwise normal - been eating lots of green vegetables to help shrink it but it doesnt help much.

  • @Susilea35 UAE is safe, effective, and often allows women to preserve their fertility. Give us a call at 866-362-6463 to learn more or visit fibroids.com!

  • how long to be recovered after embolization?

  • @MegaGandes I had this done a few years ago. It went well and if I remember correctly I was fine after 5-7 days or so.

  • @MegaGandes UAE is an out-going procedures and patients are usually back to their daily routines in less than a week.

  • All that saying about using your diet to get rid of it, I don't believe. I believe greens can control it and overall eating right but getting rid of it? I dont think so.

  • I am impress. Thank you for posting this.

What is the chance of getting pregnant after this?

I just had a sonogram and they said I have 4 fibroids.

I have had fibroids for about 23 years.

I can feel one in the entrance of my uterus which cause the uterus to be enlarge.

I would like to get pregnant but I realize the fibroids is also at the entrance so the chance appear to be slim.

  • @brazilianjeansNY

Indeed your chances of having children are very slim.

Not so much because of the fibroids but bacause of your age.

If you have had fibroids for 23 years, as you state, you must be 43 now!

I would strongly suggest a vaginal hysterectomy.

  • @fastandeffective Thanks but I have been following Doctor Oz along with other research and was given the advice not to remove it unless it is affecting my everyday life. The only problem apart from not getting pregnant is the heavy periods. A friend who work in natural remedy recommended eating more greens along with a nourisher for my hormones. I drink a all green juice daily from my health food store and use the nourisher. So far I see about 50% reduction with bleeding so I will stick with it.

  • @brazilianjeansNY Fibroids can sometimes prevent the ability to fertilize. UAE may be an option for you. Please give us a call at 866-362-6463 to learn more or visit fibroids.com!

  • If this procedure effective on large fibroids? Or on what size fibroids is this procedure most effective?

  • @sweetcapa Yes, UFE is effective for fibroids of all sizes. However, becaueUFE is capable of shrinking the size of a fibroid up to 50%, those fibroids which are smaller in size will have a much more visibly pleasing result compared to those fibroids that are bigger in size.

  • @fibroidtreatment thanks for the response

  • Does embolisation cause cancer?

  • @crownbodymargic No, UFE does not cause cancer. To learn more about UFE and UFE related symptoms, please cal 866-362-6463.

  • can someone get pregnant after ufe regardless of age

  • @crownbodymargic

No, age independently diminishes a woman's chances to remain pregnant.

  • does uef cause Cancer

  • @sweetcapa

A vaginal hysterectomy is faster and provides a permanent cure!

  • i just had this done last week and i feel good. the only thing i suggest is staying in the bed for the whole ten days with minimal walking. i had it done on tuesday and was doing laundry saturday and went out friday. sunday my upper thigh where the incisions was made hurt. i stayed in the bed for 2 days and i feel better. the gyn and was pushing for a hysterectomy but i did my research and he finally gave me a referral. this was the best move i am only 32yrs old

  • @carmencats79

OK if you plan to have more children.

But a vaginal hysterectomy would allow you to go home next day!

After this procedure you have been in bed for 10 days.

  • I had min 10 month ago and wondering if could get pregnant .

  • I'm in my mid 20's and have never had kids when the doctor told me I had fibroid's, I was so scared that I wasn't able to have kid's and started looking up sites for different treatments and this one diffidently made me feel a little better knowing that I have a different opinion's beside's major surgery! I sent a RQ today for a consultation and just waiting for them to get back to me. :)

  • I was actually scheduled to have a hysterectomy in July for a fibroid tumor that is in the muscle of my uterus. Today, I spoke with a radiologist who does the embolization procedure as above and he advised that I go with this as opposed to the hysterectomy. It means 10 weeks of healing verses 4 months and will be able to get back to work sooner than later. I was told that the procedure was extremely painful. Are you under general anesthesia for this or is it an epidural?

  • @mellowye1966 The procedure itseld is not painful; however, some women experience cramping after the procedure which can be a bit painful for some. Also, it is a local anesthetic so, no, you do not "go under" like you would with a general anesthetic. Additionally, the doctor will apply an IV sedative. Hope this helps!

  • @mellowye1966

After a vaginal hysterectomy you go home next day, to work after a week, you have satisfactory sex after a month.

I think this doctor has mislead you with false statistics.

Read the relative official statistics on the British Medical Journal!

  • This process requires skill and a high efficiency of the doctor to avoid serious complications such as severe bleeding during surgery may require work to eradicate the whole of the uterus to save the life of the patient

    thanks for this vidio

  • @maam6107

    Very true.

But they keep avoiding to inform patients about these fatal risks!

  • i watched the video and i will be doing this soon in dec 2. i notice the wire was left in the patient. will this be removed later?

  • @cwilliamscorona Yes, the wire is later removed, but the plastic particles used to embolize the fibroid artery will remain.

  • Some fibroids are not easily seen. I spotted for 6-months straight ending up anemic. I have multiple exams and ultrasounds. All the ultrasounds came back normal. This all ended one day when I sat on the toilet and literally passed a fibroid. It looks like if I'm getting another one. This time I'm not playing and I will have my doctor do a uterine scope instead of only relying on an ultrasound.

  • I've had this surgery one year ago. i was awake during the whole thing and nervous as heck. I was in a lot of pain several days after, but the surgery was a success. I don't feel the fibroids anymore.

  • @1967nita

"a lot of pain several days after"

    My God.

After a vaginal hysterectomy you would be active at home next day!

  • I've had this surgery one year ago. i was awake during the whole thing and nervous as heck. I was in a lot of pain several days after, but the surgery was a success. I don't feel the fibroids anymore.

  • Hello,

the advice gven to me by my doctor was to eat lots of dark green leafy vegetables. No acidic stuff like orange, coffee, tomatoes, vinegar, ketchup and yeast.

I was told that yeast and vinegar has fungul effect and helps fibroid to grow. I was eating unlimited amount of colourful vegetables but mostly green colours. Pains did ease but fibroids nevefr shrunk. Hope this helps, feel free to ask further questions.

  • @pineappleringsforeve

Unfortunately, diet does nothing to shrink fibroids.

Read the relative guidelines on the British Medical Journal!

  • How much this would cost ?

  • @HasipriRatnayake

    Same cost as a hysterectomy.

  • My mom is getting this, iam really scared

  • @ClaribelR01 Please do not worry. Not only are the success rates for this procedure quite high, but your mother should be back on her feet and doing her routine activities as early as a week after having the procedure done. Recovery is quick and she should be back to herself in no time. Hope this helps!

  • @fibroidtreatment Wow thanks so much . I cant wait to tell her she's going to be fine

  • Having this done in the morning. Looking forward to it!!! I am thankful to have access to this amazing technology unlike women for thousands of years with my same symptoms who just had to suffer.

  • @thislisa

    How did it go?

  • @thislisa Glad to know that you have chosen to have the procedure done! We are confident you will be satisfied!

    Best,

    FTC

  • @thislisa

How was the surgery? I'm considering it in 2011.

  • @thislisa

How was the surgery? I'm considering it in 2011.

  • @thislisa

Well, the last 200 years women do not suffer any more.

    They have hysterectomies!

  • atw!!

  • This was a great video, though would have liked to see the recovering process as well. I'm having my UFE in 5days and extremely anxious. I have over 30 fibroids as detected by a MRI and was told by my gyno that I look like a 5 month pregnant woman. I've had the Fibroids for over 7 years now (atleast that was when I got diagnosed).

  • @marsimone1

    How did your UFE go?

  • @Silentgenius01 it went well thanks. I have a follow up in 3 months.

  • @marsimone1

That's good to know. Let us know if you see any differences in about a month! Find out your chances of pregnancy. I have heard a couple of things regarding this procedure. Thanks.

  • QUestion: Since it appears that the particles block the two uterine arteries, not just arteries supplying blood only to the fibroids, don't those arteries supply blood to the whole uterus? What are the effects on the whole uterus? Are the ovaries supplied blood by the uterine arteries? If so, are the ovaries affected? I like my ovaries.

Do the particles eventually dissipate and, thereby, restore regular blood flow to the uterus?

  • @paulineprojectlove

Good questions. If you ever get the answers to this, please let me know!

  • @paulineprojectlove No the arteries that are blocked by the particles are not the same arteries that supply blood to the overies. For this reason, ovaries continue to function even after having the procedure done.

  • @paulineprojectlove

    Intelligent questions.

Of course, particles go blocking the blood supply all over the uterus.

They never state that clearly to women though!

Otherwise no one would submit herself to this procedure.

Most plan to have children afterwards...

A poisoned, hypoxic uterus is NOT the best place to host a fetus!

  • I have had fibroids for years and as I am getting older, they are getting bigger. Right now for the past couple days I'm premenstrual and in agony with lower back pain. Over the past couple years my belly has been growing a little (not just fat). A hysterectomy for me is as much of a possibility as a male would consider castration as a cure for pain. I just know my flow will be very heavy this time and I am sooooo happy that there is this procedure that can potentially cure my many fibroids.

  • @paulineprojectlove

    Wrong!

A vaginal hysterectomy will be liberating for you.

Read the relative clinical guidelines on the British Medical Journal.

  • I had this procedure done in feb. 2009 and i do not regret it at all..Everyone will have different results but I can say you probably won't be sorry you did it..I went from having heavy periods with half dollar sized clots to a normal period ( still 6 days though damnit ) lol but only an occasional small clot now and then

  • It's absolutely fascinating to watch videos like this! Thanks for posting!

  • My surgery was nothing like this! I have a huge scar I wish I would have done more research on it but since I was near death I just trusted the doctors

  • @bcrfan79 I hurt like hell the first two days and my doctor told me all the risk and said it would be painful but after years of pain and bleeding it was a much better choice than a hysterectomy. One of my neighbors had a hysterectomy and she hurt not just for six weeks but for years afterwards! You do need an honest doctor no matter what the procedure and you have to do your own research becuz you can not completely trust any doctor, unfortunately!

  • @Animosity4UandU if you dont mind me asking are you able to have babies after the operation? I just had a miscarriage and was told it was because of the fibroids. Thanks

  • @shabbaby50 You can still have children. They say the uterus doesn't need much blood to function but the fibroids need a ton. So the uterus is still viable on peripheral blood.

  • @shabbaby50

The blood supply may not have been the issue. Maybe it was the size of the fibroid and/or where it was located.....

  • @Animosity4UandU

After a vaginal hysterectomy women do not feel pain after 48 hours!

Read the relative research statistics on the British Medical Journal.

Perhaps your neighbour was after some inability State benefits...

  • @bcrfan79

A vaginal hysterectomy is fast, safe, and leaves no scars!

  • i really enjoyed this video..i hope someday i wil be doing exact same precedure...

  • I was very scared!!! I had this done on Monday - the first 24 hours was painful. I am feeling really good today and its only been a few days. Good luck!

  • @rock123917

I keep hearing how it's painful afterwards but don't they prescribe or suggest meds that soothes this pain??

  • Really enjoyed the video. Very helpful Thanks

  • Re: Fibroid Removal - Uterine Fibroid Embrolization Surgery

  • It makes the procedure look simple and easy. At the very end of the video though, it looked like there was still some wire left in the patient. But other than that, I do plan on calling your office tomorrow so I can see if I can have this procedure done. :)

Thanks for sharing and posting this video.

  • @hourglas39

I think what you may have seen was the sealant that they placed in the incision. Don't know.

  • im 3 days post embrolisation.didnt feel a thing even tho awake but sedated.first two days very painful but tramodol very helpful,so far so good, early days yet, will post again in a week let you know of progress,,most of all, dont be scared.its not so bad,,

  • @5167amanda

How are things going for you now? Do you see a change is belly size from the fibroid removal?

  • Bloody Heck you guys, now I can't make up my mind

  • It is refreshing in this hurry up make money and in certain respects- soul-less world that drastically depends on Medicine--to see a Doctor with grace, style and a truly human soul...

  • I had this done a few years ago (2006) and I had great results. It did hurt pretty bad the evening of the procedure, but after that the pain could be managed with Advil. My periods were immediately better (by the next period!) and I only wish I had done it sooner! My periods are still much better! I was 37 when I had it done.

  • dfis700 - You are so right. I had this in Nov 09 and the pain was so bad I had to stay in the hospital extra day. After all that my fibroids still tucked in there looking stronger and bigger than ever. Why I bithered I don't know. One thing for sure it does not work for everyone.

  • @pineappleringsforeve

Did you change your diet after the procedure?

  • @Silentgenius01 Yes, I did ..plenty of iron, and loads of green leaf vegetable....cut out vinegar, yeast, any acid additves...no tomatoes, chillies, coffee and dairy.

Ended up having total abdominal hysterectomy in late April. My fibroids mesured 15 cm 12cm and 9cm. Feel free to ask any questions. :-)

  • @pineappleringsforeve

Aww, sorry to hear that even the change in diet didn't help enough. :( But at least you are ok and got through everything fine. :)

  • @pineappleringsforeve i am having so much pain. i would love to know more about this diet.

  • I had this done in July 09 they told me my periods would get better that was 6 months ago. They don't seem any better.

  • Do any of the injected "particles" travel through-out the arterial system? That would be unfortunate to have them settle in the MCA or Coronary.

  • I don't think I would worry about that. I had this done and I was fine it just has not really helped me with my periods.

  • @tmc515

Good question. And I have read that a small amount of particles can travel to the uterus as well.

  • I am 27 years old. I had a fibriod mass in my uterus. I was 26 when i had mine taken out last year. it was so big that i could fell it on my belly when i pressed down on it. i was never pregnant. the mass was so big that it enlarged my uterus. at the same time i had my appendix taken out. i was in the hospital for a week.

  • @jerseygal82

And how is it now? Do you notice the shrinkage now?

  • cool..... this was nice

  • I had this done and they failed to inform me the bigger the fibroids the more painful recovery. I am very strong for pain and the pain was nothing than I can describe because it was horrible. They were giving me pain medicine that was stronger than morphine. The doctor indicated I could be discharged the next day and I ended up being in the hospital 2days just so they could manage my pain. The fibroids did shrink but not all the way and less than 1 year later the same ones are growing again.

  • @dfis700

Just wondering....How big were they before you went into surgery? The size of an apple? Grapefruit? Also, after you received the procedure, did you try and change your diet?

  • Amazing!

What are the particles deposited in the embelization?

  • Thank you doc for this video, it certainly helps me before i consider having that treatment. i'm 41 and certainly do not want a big incision scarring my stomach.

  • @Susilea35

A vaginal hysterectomy leaves NO scars!

  • My Mom has fibroid tumors and now I'm starting to show a lot of signs of having one but I'm only 18 so we're hoping it's just my..Period being stupid.

  • Hi ManderMurduh: Just a brief comment I read that you said that you are only 18, well, I think that i started growing my fibroids @ age 18. Ask your doctor for an MRI and ultrasound just to confirm because in my aspect age does not matter when it comes to fibroid tumors.

  • Heh. I was thinking exactly what you were thinking. My Mom is more skeptical though. We're scheduling an ultrasound within a couple weeks so hopefully I'll know whether I do or not. ^_^

  • Yeah the scheduled ultrasound sounds good but also have an MRI done if the ultrasound shows any evidence of tumors. The MRI will give exact size and locations of each tumor. I think I had my tumors since age 18 but they were not confirmed until 2003 via ultrasound at age 35. But get yours verified while you are young mainly if you want to have children. I am 40 years of age now and is scheduled to have a UFE on July 13, 2009 because I am still hoping to have children one day in spite of

  • @1ambitious1

How did your UFE go? Have your fibroids shrunk? Have you gotten pregnant since?

  • If u dont mind I advice u good herbal treatment for Fabroids.Avoid milk from cows using oxyticin injections.ur meals should be in time,No negative thinking use aloe juice with honey three times day. After a week u and ur mother will be relieved. If not curse me.thankyou

  • actually there is another way all u hav 2 do is change ur diet eat more acidic foods and whole foods which would dissolve the fibroids naturally..Im bout 2 start my fast june 15 n i will do water 4 1 week straight that wil help n gettin the toxins out of my body then i will start with the acidic fruits like grapefruits, oranges, limes, lemons etc...and then that next week i will do dark leafy vegetables to restore sum of the vitamins and minerals that my body so desperately needs.

  • nadya suleman myometctomyis different they dont take halve theuteru

Myomectomy preserves the uterus while treating fibroids. It is reasonable treatment option if you have:..............

Pain or pressure that is not relieved by treatment with medicine.

A fibroid that has changed the wall of the uterus. This can sometimes cause infertility or repeat miscarriages. Before an in vitro fertilization, myomectomy is often done to improve the chances of pregnancy.

  • I just had this procedure done on Monday. It's Saturday now, and I'm up and typing this. I was scared too, and thought I'd be doubled over, but it wasn't like that at all. If I can keep it real with you ... the worst part about the recovery ain't the uterine cramping ... it's the constipation. (Laugh if you want, but it's the TRUTH). Anyway, get the procedure done ... it's a little cramping for years of relief! And don't be scared, Sweetheart, you'll be okay!

  • I am going to having this procedure done. I am worried to becaue I heard it can be dangerous. I am so scared, but I know I have to do this.

  • my ufe is being done by a Radioligist. Have you heard of that?

  • Mine was done by an Interventional Radiologist. I was just noticing today how, when I look down, my gut is a lot flatter. My periods aren't wild and crazy anymore either (I just had my 2nd since the procedure). There's a lot to gain, and you'll feel SO much better. Try not to be scared ... it DOES need to be done. You'll be in my thoughts. When are you due to go in for the procedure?

  • I am having it done July 14th. I am so worried I heard there is alot of cramping and feeling of being sick to your stomach for a while. Is this true? I think when I made the appointment to have it done they said I would stay one day.

  • I'll be praying for you~

  • I had this procedure done on May 13 2009. There is some cramping, but if you have had painful periods nothing you can't handle and my doctor gave me good drugs after the procedure. And yes I was sick to my stomach for a few days and I took pepcid for that. I stayed over night in the hospital. And I was back to work in 10 days. I am glad that I had the procedure done. My stomach is getting flatter but I had such a large fibroid the size of a nerf football .

  • @anita13502

How long before you saw physical results? And how long does the cramping last? About 2 weeks??

  • @prettyface777

Radiologists who to pretend to be gynaecologists...

    It's all for the money.

  • Thanks for sharing! ...still thinking about it.

  • I just discovered I've this fibroid in my uterus too. It's about 6cm big. Is it a must to go through operation to remove it? No other remedy? I'm scared of operations and worried now :(

  • @melody2205

    Hey, this IS an operation!

  • i am having this done in may and i am scared out of my mind. can someone plase tell me what to expect before and after surgery such as recovering and pain

  • Don't worry I had mine yesterday and I feel ok. Just put yourself in God's hands.

  • thanks

  • I had this procedure done without any complications at all..I have experienced very little pain also..Once in a while a cramp ( dying fibroid) will happen but it's not intense..All in all I think it was worth it

  • @darkangeldawn

So did you notice a dramatic change NOW since before you got the surgery? How are things going with you now? Any issues?

  • thanks for sharing this video my mom is gonna have this done in a few day and I'm scared as well as she is too....but now i know how everything goes am a lil calm now once again thanks

  • i am having this done in 16 days and i am scared to death..it's nice to see exactly what is going to happen..thanks for the video

  • @darkangeldawn How did the surgery go?

  • Ithank this video was a suscess. i defintly need this surgery.

  • Your welcome! We are going to keep spreading the awareness. Stay tuned.

  • @dyell04
