  • this song brings memories to me.

  • 1985/1986. My parents just bought a Buick Century... I used to love bumpin' this in the drive way... cause I didn't have my license just yet. Just a magical time to be a teenager. 10th grade.

    Nice add.

  • 3X Krazy - Keep it on the Real*

Agerman, Keak da Sneak, BART.....learn about it!

  • HAHAHA So Jay Zzzz Sampled This Classic. What A Joke, Todays Hip-Hop Artist Should Just Stick To Making Crap. Leave These Sweet 80's Jams Alone! 8P

  • Great tune, Diane is a cousin of mine, unfortunatly we have lost contact with each other and I have not seen her for quite some time.

  • Nick Martinelli, producer of Loose Ends, did this cut. I have the album.

  • OMG I love this track, how did music like this get forgotten. Those WERE the days, so many dances :-)

  • Shes A great singer and still is, Never get tired of this and many others that she sang, Easy on the ear and relaxed.

Give her our Love (the Fans) and Respect for a Long lasting career in the music biz.

  • well actually when this came out people thought it was loose ends at bthis time alot of groups was going to england/europe to get this sound(marvin gave, the stylistics, whodini,kashif,odessy,...etc.. just to name a few) this was a tight jam i dont see a jimmy jam influence in this but yes that thelma houston song i did see it and also nona hendricks too why should i cry....says...uzi polo-king of decatur

  • WOOOOOO YEAH IM FEELIN THIS SHYT

  • this was the jam. I did not know who did this song. did the also do "you use to , use to hold me so tight" I really do not know the name of the song, but I remember the chorus.

  • You mean Thelma Houston - You Used To Hold Me So Tight.

  • great song, even though Nick Martinelli obviously stole the Jam & Lewis sound. Terry Lewis was pissed.

  • chei sweet mammy wata....this wan radio rivrs romance am til the romance sowa..when the soul was real.

  • I remember this one.

A classic, played the hell out of it (on cassette tape! ['member those?!]).

Didn't know it was sampled so much?

    Wow!

  • One of the finest bands to emerge from the UK in the 1980s alongside Loose ends, Soul II Soul, Central Line, Linx, Hi Tension,Total Contrast, LW5 & Shokk..

  • Saw them at "The International" in Manchester......Apparently its now an Indian supermarket. Legend!!!!!

  • Wow. One of my all time favorite R&B jams from the 1980's. Got the extended version on my I-pod. Didn't know that there was video for the song.

  • baby makin music

  • this was the jam,i got the 12'version on album!!

  • This vibe was magnetic. I was only a teen when it came out. How cool is it that in the intro, the band was introduced one by one like a movie.

  • It came out in 1985, but I didn't hear it until May or June of 1986. But it fit so well in that musical period.

  • I have the 12 inch version of this song.

  • One of the best smooth R&B songs to come out in mid-1986 the same year that Janet Jackson's Control album was so red hot! I still love that record from 52nd Street--it still give me chills and goose bumps because of its smooth grooves!

  • I TOTALLY Agree!! I've been holding a tape cassette from 1985 with this song I recorded in New York when I was a teen! I am soo happy. Can you find it on iTunes?

  • I don't think so but I have it on a 12 inch. If you want it then hit me up in a private message and I'll be happy to send it to you.

  • oh my god!!!!!thank you british soul was big in the 1980's. for me it started off with junior (mama used to say). listening to urban radio in nyc, 52nd street got mad airplay with this cut. loose ends on the other hand blew them out of the water with (hangin on a string). i dont know how radio could have mixed up the two acts. female vocals from both groups are completely distinct. love both groups anyway. thanks

  • Fall '86 classic!!!!!!

  • I worked in Unversal City at MCA Records pop radio promotion department when this track came out. As hot as it was, there was some confusion at urban radio, programmers mistaking the track for Loose Ends, then the hot UK group with Gonna Make You Mine that was also on MCA. I have most of the full music videos from the MCA's The Reel Thing volumes, will have to dig for the full vid of this great 52nd Street track.

  • Fully love this track!! Brings back the memories.. did they ever have a video for 'smiling eyes'?

  • This was one of my favorite songs in 1986! Thanx

  • mint song my dad is tony henry the guitarist

  • Here's a musical group that were ahead of their time. Oh what a classic! Thanks for the short video!

  • I love this song! Thank you so much for posting this. Sad it isnt the whole song but even then its great just to hear this again! :o) If you get the whole video to this I would love to see it. - Amazing!

  • Very "touchin'" (OMG)

  • great jam. Hope that someone can find the full version

  • this song IS and will always be the shiznit! I play it around company and they are like "whose this?" I get em everytime!!!!

  • This is my SH!T right here. It's great to see actual video footage to this song. I guess it's asking too much for the entire video clip. In any event that song was so smooth. The rythm the groove still hits to this day. Everytime I play it around company the response is the same oh sh!t, I remember this this was the jam this was the SH!T!

  • What video was that with the band walking in the street?

  • An EPK video.(Promo film that record companies use to promo their acts through various media outputs).

  • If anyone was familar with the popular BET program called Video lp, that showcased cheap promo videos for R&B artists that did'nt have the time or the efficent funds (at the period) to make a official video. New Edition, Ready For The World, and Full Force performed singles from that show (host was Shelly Carter) that never had videos. Was it possible that 52nd Street make any promo videos from Video LP (like "Tell Me"??

  • so damn smooth, i love this shit.

  • I love this track. Virgin/MCA was trippin real hard for not making a video to this song. Hell yeah this coulda been a #1 seller. This one is my favorite track from this group, along with "Let's Celebrate."

  • Haven't heard this in years. What a fantastic Manc tune!

  • Is there a 'full version' ??

  • I got the CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT CD from this group from ebay and I've paid over $100 to get it and the whole thing is great.

  • I got goosepimples listening to this man..memories in the clubs and the terraces!!

  • One of my top ten best songs from the classic era of 1985...also one of my best from the 1985-1986 era...Track is sickening and hypnotic.Man, what atrance it puts you in, such a groovy feeling...Too bad cats can't make it like this anymore...Its a crying shame , our music is devoid of substance, relevance and feeling.totally hollow, predictable and bland.Nothing intrigues you..Like my dad said, the music you grow up listening to stays with you forever...True words....

  • Great track i still play it at the end of my sets in the club.

  • Do you mean a promo video or a promo release of the song? The song was promo'd on 12" vinyl and also released on 12" vinyl. Fucking fantastic song.

  • I'd like to say its a damn shame on how Virgin records wouldnt give the band a break on releasing an official video of their biggest hit. They released two other videos from that same lp in 1985-86, but by the time the single was released, they couldnt make a video for it! Its also a damn shame that I havent heard of Jay-Z's version just yet!!

  • I haven't heard this song in only god nows when. I just love it.
