  • Terrible singer 

  • shush guys! lynsey de mole is fabulous! just enjoy the splendid music ;0))

  • Singing live and couple of bum notes perhaps - but I'd rather have a few bum notes from a Babe than a pitch perfect rendition from a rotunda Opera singer.

  • Jackie1957able Thank you for your comment. I HAD HOPED that YOU would have UNDERSTOOD the meaning of the abbreviated word BYE.

I live in the HOPE that you will now DISSAPPEAR PERMANANTLY. GOODBYE and have a good life.

  • Jackie1957able. Tell me what YOU have DONE in your life. Take that back. PLEASE DO NOT. BYE.

  • @justphil101 Your comment is like your taste BAD. LOL.

  • Tell me ALL you commentators. Did you ENJOY this post. LOL. This is MY BRIT GIRL.

  • @justphil101 She is sooooooo boring.

  • I love her and also had a big crush on her since the 1970's. I met her in the mid 1980's and could not say a word to her as I was very shy. She smiled at me. Such is life!

  • Oh dear, this sounds so fucking awful it's unbelievable.

  • @DaveBTHunt So do you.

  • @borgduck Can you be for real? Well, the situation remains unchanged and this is still a tremulous and wavering cacophony, so now what're you gonna do, cry and mumble into your Cornish pasty? GTFO.

  • @DaveBTHunt Nope. Just laugh at a neurotic dickhead such as yourself.

  • @borgduck Haha, I hope that brainless fantasy gives you some comfort for 5 minutes, you helpless jackass, so laugh it up. I'm sure you've had to create one like it to accommodate your daily experience of worthlessness. Meanwhile, you haven't changed the fact that DePaul still sucks so you may want to consider that while you choke down another Ginsters, you poor fucking tone-deaf gimp. Hahaha!

  • @DaveBTHunt You're articulate, however, that doesn't change the fact that you're a sad specimen of a creature with no right to live on this Earth than Hitler on a good day!

  • @borgduck Be silent, you tragic fool - I'm sure violins rise to a plaintive crescendo every time you open your fat pie hole.

  • @DaveBTHunt Actually, I'm quite slim. I didn't eat a thing yesterday, & I rarely eat pies, just the occasional pasty every couple of months. As for you, Quit trying to be a member of the human race!

  • @borgduck I don't give a damn about your diet diary you idiotic clown. It's boring. Shut up you glue-eared dolt, you need to fetch yourself under a tram.

  • @borgduck You should take one final shit into a mug, swallow it - and then open your veins in the bath.

  • @DaveBTHunt It took you TWO MONTHS to come up with that reply?! You really must have a pudding for a brain. Do the World a favour, flush your fat head down the toilet & save oxygen for the rest of us!!

  • @borgduck Of course you're talking nonsense as usual. Did you take that shit into a mug as I suggested? Have a toke and report back I'm keen to know your findings.

  • @DaveBTHunt Nope. Since you're obviously experienced in taking s**ts in mugs, & swallowing it, as you keep bringing it up! I'll leave that to your neurotic self.

  • @borgduck I think you protest a little too much, you idiot fuck-head. Come clean.

  • @DaveBTHunt "Idiot fuck-head?", stop talking to yourself.

  • @borgduck Don't be ashamed - spill the beans, fecal freak.

  • @DaveBTHunt You obviously suck it. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

  • this was the B side of Sugar Me

  • second hand lying (as in fronm a liar)

  • Here's something that says something about something... I first heard this song when I was 11. I fancied her then, I fancy her now - but that's not my point. Ever since hearing Lynsey De Paul sing this song, whenever I heard someone say "Storm in a teacup", I could recall pretty well the entire chorus - note for note, word for word. I'm not saying it's the greatest song in the world, but.....

...could that girl write a hit song? Yep. Star quality? No question!

  • Better than the version by the Fortunes.

  • in the 70s she was never off the TV and her and her mole were a big turn on even for this prepubescent!

  • prick

  • very pretty and writes nice songs but the singing is just awful

  • What a crappy singer and song. BORING !!!!!!

  • @zinesilol88 dick head

  • @lotcas Crappy singer, crappy song.

  • I am wondering what she is seeing at 2:23 as you can see a bit of a reaction on her part.

  • Amazing how standards of beauty have changed over the years. Would anyone with a zit that big be considered beautiful these days?

  • @amylNRG It's a mole you fuckwit.

  • @95Gabe

Hey, fuckwit! You call it a mole, I call it a zit. Either way, it's a fuckin' enormous great indelible blemish, and needs a swift visit to the cosmetic surgeon. And while she's there, she might think about taking a couple of mils off her jaw, and a correction on the nose. Oh, and get some body in that hair. Like I said, standards of beauty have changed. If you're stuck in the past, it's no concern of mine.

  • @amylNRG You superficial piece of shit. It's her fave and if she chooses to accept it then that her choice. Why should anyone change themselves just so garbage like you can find them "acceptable".

Good luck with your nothing life.

  • @amylNRG still wouldn't crawl over her to get to you

  • @lifeson46

Given that I'm a bloke, and you're a (presumably heterosexual) man, I think that's good news for all of us!

  • @amylNRG i rest my case

  • Lynsey can be seen in one of the Tommy Cooper DVD's singing No Honeslty. Shame the BBC wiped the TOTP episodes where she performed the song....but it was the them to an ITV comedy.

  • no Brit girls were having hits with their own songs in those days - Lynsey was the biggest UK female after the 60's Brit Girls and way before the singer/songerwiter girls that are ten a penny today. She's often sorely over looked as a pioneer in the early days of girl music power.

  • @dt44ttfn Shame she wasn't overlooked all together.

  • Lovely woman but I think she was a better songwriter than singer.

  • @tjamassey Well, considering she did sing 100% live without autotune it isn't that bad at all.

  • I have to say that I did like the Eurovision song she did with Mike Moran, called Rock Bottom :-)

  • Did she REALLY write this song? She should have left it in the hands and lips of The Fortunes as this sounds awful.

  • @FishOnTwoWheels Yes , she has to take the credit for writing this but I agree with you , her version here is pretty poor compared to The Fortunes . Still , she had talent as a songwriter so maybe we shouldn't be too harsh on her & I bet she has more money than the rest of us on here put together ! Even though I'm a woman , I can see that she was attractive so I doubt that many men were complaining when she was on TV , however badly she sang !!

  • She was great then and got even better... she's quite talented. And such a beautiful woman

  • De Paul is no great singer but something in her records just makes me tingle all over and that's what makes them great records. Her UK debut album has this wonderful kind of late-night with a hint of sleaze production and is packed full of little gems such a Sleeping Blue Knights.

  • so sweeeeeet!!!!

  • I love this.

I bet zengangster below thinks that The red hot chilli peppers or some other godawful band are the epitome of good taste.

  • The Motown song that never was! It should have been up there with the greats.

  • @ZenGangster PURE RUBBISH !!!!!

  • fab!

  • I remember how I used to listen to this song maybe a million times a day when I was 12 :) One of my all time favs!

  • A nice performance and a double credit to her given it is completely live noting the carefully keyboard work partway through the clip

  • This is the first time I've heard Lynsey sing this song, I didn't know she wrote it either. Thanks for sharing :D

  • Lynsey de Prat !!! ha, ha,

  • @slickwillie1947 Why are you watching then? Who,s the pratt? Can,t even spell!!

  • karentv>>I think before you judge others ,check your own commas all wrong. Ever heard of high commas """"""""She is a pratt .

  • Soo.. very sad the composition after Sugar me...

  • Lynsey dePaul is one of our favourites, her songs are thoughtful, funny, classic and sweet! Love you Lynsey.

  • Thank you for posting this.

    --------Ellen

  • sweeeet :)

  • soo classic and beatiful

  • I think LDP was the resident singer on the Two Ronnies in the same way Barbara Dickson was many years later.

  • lovely - tons of nostalgia from a time when I was a kid and pop music, the charts and TOTP meant everything. she was definitely the top pop girl of the early 70's bar none

  • i still think she,s good.

sod anyone that dont like it.

  • oh lynsey sugar me baby

  • Comment removed

  • I had such a crush on Lynsey when I was 12. At 48 I realise I haven't got over it yet. She's lovely! :-)

Definitely singing live - you can hear her little laugh at 2:37. Sigh.....

  • @atomicdonkey

I REMEMBER THIS IN THE UK CHARTS BY THE FORTUNES I WAS TEN AT THE TIME AND LIKE YOU I ALSO HAD A THING FOR HER LOL....GREAT DECADE FOR MUSIC UNLIKE MOST OF TODAY WITH A FEW EXCEPTIONS...

  • @atomicdonkey

I think the piano part might be live as well.

  • @atomicdonkey I think 99% of lads your age (me included) felt the same.

  • Beautifully sung i must say Lynsey you were and still are a goddess. I think Lynsey was a regular on The Two Ronnie's around 1972.

From a young but obssessed fan.

  • sublime

  • the b side of suger me

  • i'm looking for the song "getting a drag " it had been performed in 72 OR 73 could someone help me?

  • i love this

  • shes good, was lookin4wont sumbody dannce with me.

  • Great composer but the Fortunes sung this one better.

  • On the back of car craft magazine was a coke ad with the fortunes in A mod boutique .

  • A near permanent fixture on BBC entertainment shows at the time, this one comes from The Two Ronnies in 1972 or 1973. Storm was on the B side of her biggest hit Sugar Me. The Two Ronnies helped LDP's career but also helped the Nolans to fame by using them as their resident musical guests when they were little known.

  • Her voice is unique! Some people like, some not, personally, I love it :D

    The song is sweet!

  • What a fantastic song! Lynsey's piano playing is infectious. I love the way she layers instruments on every so many measures. Can be compared to "Love is in the air" by John Paul Young. Lynsey really contributes to the world of music. She sounds great live too. The stereo version from her albums is even better. Thank God for Ebay!

  • It has to be said that she never had a great voice. She's written some fantastic songs though.

  • lovely !never tire of this! live too!

  • i think she has a great voice.... it's original & cutesy

  • I love this song, but it's live - she's not lip-synching.

Does any one know where I might get the original studio recording?

  • er.. how many hits you had? lol!

  • shes great! and shes hot!

  • She is an O.A.P. now, terrible singer.

  • its a beautiful song... not many can sing and play the piano at the same time.

    except you of course bluetit1991....

  • Comment removed

  • She never claimed to be a singer but she is a great songwriter! Don't forget that artists didn't lip-synch as much in those days. Recently I was at a Madonna concert - she did only one song live (is this the minimum necessary to call a concert a live event) and it was awfully off key. Not saying I don't like Madonna but give Lynsey a break - this is 37 years ago and she's no worse than many other singers of the period (or now, I suspect).

  • Amy winehosue is awful.

  • Isn't she just so gorgeous.

  • Early Lyndsey De Paul this one.. She's wasn't that crappy really. "No Honestly" is a great wee song.. She's probably nervous at playing live on what was a top-rated and show at the time on the BBC.

  • girls aloud! in 1!

  • Too right she is

I had the joy of briefly meeting her

    A wonderful girl!

  • She is amazing!

  • too right she is and i had the joy of meeting her once

    A definately happy day!!!!

  • 100% gorgeous and talented! hey! any of you can do better post it!...........

  • yes , i do still love her and seeing this old clip makes me realise why, great song writing and so sexy .

  • It sounds like she's singing live. Not perfecty on-the-note but Yehhh! for Lynsey :)

  • True, she was not the greatest of singers, but it was a catchy tune, and she was so cute that it really didn't matter (pitter patter). Thanks very much, BladeSteve2007, for posting this bit of pop memorabilia.

  • She sings as well? On my! :-)

  • What crap!!!! At least the U.K. can be proud of , Dusty and Elkie....

  • "Atleast" ? and I thought the UK had created some of the worlds most infamous musicians

  • Just Great! And the meaning of the text, just great!

    Great performing!

  • After being used to the Fortunes doing this song it just doesn't do it for me. Sorry. Also, the percussion is too loud in the mix.

  • My heart of ice just melted! Brilliant *sniff*

  • Fabulous!

  • FAB - would love to see her doing No Honestly, or Wont Somebody Dance With Me on the 500th TOTP

  • Guess what! Watched the Two Ronnies today, this song was on and now its stuck in my head! A great song by the way! 10/10!

  • good looking woman, great songwriter, but her singing? to be a bit kind i think the orchestra is playing a bit sharpe.

  • Comment removed

  • Great tune written by Lynsey and Ron Roker, it made the UK charts in spring 1972, a few months before Lynsey's own "Sugar Me". Her version of "Storm in a teacup" was the B-side to Sugar me.

  • i adore this song .........i love her!!!!!!i saw her on come dine with me she has not changed

  • WoW i have never heard Lynsey sing this before i love it thanks.

  • French (Québec) version

Ginette Reno - Dans la vie, tout s'arrange

  • Great song, lovely lady - and yes, it was The Fortunes who had the hit with it (and they're still going strong too)

  • What a beautiful looking lady. Who else was it that covered this - was it The Fortunes?. I have tried searching for this but cannot find it.

  • Search for the video "Summer on Lundy" which has The Fortunes' version.

  • I've been waiting for this clip to come around again on TTR on ITV3 for ages. Thanks for posting. This is a cool track but I think LDP only released it as a B-side. Would anybody know of a clip of LDP performing "The arrival of the Queen of Sheba". I remember this being located on a roof top with maybe drums and bass. She might also have been wearing thigh boots but that might just be me:) I've no idea what TV program this featured in and I think it was late 70's.

  • It was featured in the Ladybirds episode devoted to Lynsey, I think

  • ...or "Won't Somebody Dance with me" or "Getting a Drag"

  • Re No Honestly ... that would be a rare clip indeed if it's out there somewhere...

  • There is a video available and I hope to upload it soon.

  • great song

  • Lynsey will always hold a place in my heart... I Love this, I know she wrote it but never knew she performed it... Anybody got her inging " No Honestly" ? That would send me to heaven.....
