HELP! Im a care worker just outside of norwich, got an extremely athletic 11yr old who is desperate to start Parkour training. Are there any official, risk assesed class in the area? Any help would be great! (Shame theres so many moronic comments, you guys look like ure havin fun!)
Easton College. Check out thegym4u . co . uk (ignore the spaces). None of us guys have been in several months, so I'm not sure if the lesson structure or cost is still the same.
Man, you guys suck way bad, dont keep trying this you will get very badly injured... The people that do this are in the best shape possible for a human being, they make it look easy!
Here is how this goes: the kid slips once during practice, lands on some metal or concrete with his/her face, looses half the front teeth, breaks the jaw. Then they go to the ER, get their jaw wired shot for a few months (if there are enough teeth left to do it), and after the jaw heals about 10k $ in dental reconstruction follows. This is the good version. Bad one: same fall, kid hits his head on a concrete floor and develops a speech imparement for the reast of his/her life> The End
scenario 3: he doesn't do anything, avoids any sports (these injuries are more likely to happen in competitive sports where you're not in control of your surroundings) lives a boring life, never learns what it is to have fun, never gets good at anything, his body goes to waste. so does his life.
what's your point? we're aware injuries can happen, but this is all the stuff that's gone wrong, compared to the hours of footage of stuff going right...
Lol, good point on the third scenario, I agree with the 'wasted life' concept on some level, but it is a childish way to look at it. There are many ways to have fun that dont involve injuries. I ride a motorcycle every day knowing full well what can happen if I crash. On the other hand I wear a helmet and armor to help protect me alittle, and I dont try to ride like Im in a race, I dont push it.
The point I guess is, when people get into something as dangerous as jumping buildings or riding 200mph or skydiving on a competetive level, they very often push themselves to do things they normaly would not try yet (if at all) and in the end only end up hurt.
Sorry to say, but you dont seem know anything about parkour. if you did, youd know that theres a philosophy, in which you train to know your bodys limits. also, parkour has nothing to do with competition- thats totally against the philosophy of parkour as well. go and do a little research, itll make more sense.
I grew up on the streets where parkour got started, there was no philosophy, just a bunch of kids in a third world country pushing each other to do harder jumps/climbs. Many old soviet buildings were abandoned and perfect for climbing all over.
the philosophy has been around since David Belle founded parkour. without the philosophy, its freerunning (i dont have anything against freerunners, just saying its not parkour)
parkour was started in france, in lisses, where david belle tried to find the most effifient way to get fmor a to b. You are horribly wrong, and should try backing up your research.
these people have been doing parkour for 3 = years now, but people get it wrong from time to time...we're only human. Try watching the official norwch parkour videos.
Yay! First comment in a while.
