No, he didnt tell the bowler that he was going to do it.

Yes, you do have to tell the batsman if you are coming over or around the wicket.

But no, you do not have to tell them if you are going to bowl a slow ball or a bouncer or any type of ball you are going to bowl.

i see nothing wrong with this, its iniviative which the game needs, its in line with t20 and pr0 40 games. if it works then brilliant, its runs and a crowd pleaser however if it doesnt come off he looks a muppet and his team mates wont thank him, thats sport...take the good with the bad. if bowlers can bowl wrong'uns and googlys which do other than their standard delivery then batters can try to get the upper hand to. good work KP

I saw him try to play this shot in the recent test series but on that occasion he mis played it got a top edge and was caught behind. So yeah looks like a cricket genius when he plays it but he looked like a complete goose when it doesn't come off.

Ponting a fantastic player, until recently had a great team, so his wins are mostly team effort.

Very rarely does he have to win matches all by himself unlike KP and that's what gives KP the edge. Also, KP is a better bowler.

I don't believe IPL is any sort of an indicator of a player's worth though.

This can lead to problems, as when Pietersen bats left-handed, suddenly all of the slips are behind leg, and if there's more than 2 of them it's always going to be a no-ball.

Probably right to let him play it, but the MCC need to have a good look at the consequences.

I disagree. I think if the batsmen chooses to switch during a bowlers run up then the umpire should recognise that it can't be a no ball if he bowled it to the correct line and the slips are positioned correctly for the start of the bowl.

I applaud KP and his innovative style. It will get him in trouble on some occasions but it really adds a dimension to the game that so few batsmen offer at the moment. And why not? It is great to watch!

No the commentators are wrong .The point of the bowler specifying which side he is bowling is to ensure that the screen is behind the bowler so that the batsman is not unsighted. Anyone capable of playing a shot like this should be encouraged to do so. the bowler should still have to specify which side he is bowling
