No gender-bending. They just changed Terk's gender. They change a lot of things in musicals, or add things - like they did in "Beauty a the Beast" and "The Lion King."

Man I'm so upset that this went off Broadway :( I saw it with my 4th grade class and it was AMAZING i loved it even more than the lion king. I really wished i could see it again. The best things about this musical was that the songs touched my heart <3

@ebutlr66 Actually, Terk was intended to be a male character, but when Rosie O'Donnell got the part they just changed it so Terk was a girl. Either way I don't think its a big deal. Even when I watch the cartoon I still think of Terk as a guy. He doesn't act like a boyish girl, he acts like a boy.

@aca7792 ummm yeah that's near impossible when doing such acrobatically advanced stuff. plus while in the audience, you can barely see anything really. your eyes are so fixed on the visual splendor you don't even notice. And then imagination comes in to play as well :) i mean they did TARZAN on stage.....win

I hope they bring Tarzan 2 the West End so I can see it & in the process of bringing it to London they make some changes to make the show better for example putting Tantor into the Musical like he should have been in the first place he was in the movie & he was a main character not a minor one & if The Lion King musical can have a Elephant & a baby Elephant im sure Tarzan can too lol & hopefully if it lasts long enough in the West End they will do a revival of the West End show onto Broadway

wow i've seen all these disney on broadway previews...when are u guys goin to to do ones of: mulan, lady and the tramp, aladin 2 and 3, lion king 2, tron (u guy could pull it off just get daft punk n the guy who did the 90s disney movie soundtracks), i'm pretty sure its about that time to make that frog movie a musical by now.....or heres a huge one..... kingdom hearts the musical ..like have a huge mashup up of musical numbers from past disney musicals...my two sense..lol overboard.

I wonder if they'll ever try to do a revival of this? despite criticisms from aptly-named critics, it actually looks like this was a great show! was it not well-publicized when it ran?

The only things I have to criticize are that 1) the shipwreck effects in the beginning were AMAZING but slightly ruined by the extremely conspicuous harnesses, so they should have tried to hide those better, and 2) the ape costumes...well, they don't look like apes lol. Other than that I think it looks awesome!

There were some differences between the plot of the movie and the storyline of the musical, which left some loud audience members disgruntled. But you're right; the music was fantastic, the scenery was breathtaking, and the cast members were unbelievably talented (not to mention gravitationally uninhibited; just thinking of doing half of their aerial stunts is making me dizzy)!

I saw the show and honestly, I loved the music and most of the actors were really good. However the guy who played Tarzan, while he could sing very well, could NOT act if his life depended on it. He was trying way to hard. I didn't like that they made Clayton American either or that he had romantic interest in Jane. I think if they got a stronger cast, the show would be brilliant because there's definitely potential there.
