Whitney is certainly one of the best ever to do it. She performs almost flawlessly when she was in her sober prime. But that does not take away from the other woman in her era. Whitney was definitely special she just knew how to do it. She doesn't always try to over sing. She sings with the perfect simplicity and understand when to bring to a climax, and then know how to then bring it down to calm the chill that just went up your spine.

She is able to move through many genres of music be it jazz, classical, gospel, r&b, pop etc. She had that ability to toy and play with pitches in songs and make them her own. That's why it's so easy to call her the best. In her prime she was unstopable. Whitney's live performances are what made her the best. I've heard all you've listed and as great as they are, I still come back to Whitney.
